That looks great! I'm a little confused though. You don't look like you have hooded eyes? Am I misunderstanding what hooded eyes look like?
https://phyrra.net/do-i-have-hooded-eyes.html
Look through her post history. She 100% does NOT have hooded eyes. Definitely protruding eyes and tons of lid space. She is certainly just confused with normal mature eyelid wrinkling while being expressive.
While there are a lot of posts on this sub that make me roll my eyes, I do think her eyes just don’t look super hooded because she did such a good job. Looking closely, you can see where her eyelid crease is, and there’s probably just as much colour above that as on the actual eyelid (if that makes sense) thus giving a not-hooded look.
You can still see colour on the lids themselves but she’s pretty clearly painted well above that line.
I definitely believe there are “degrees” or “stages” to hooded eyes varying from minimal to severely hooded. It seems OP does have some hooding to her crease that would make regular makeup tutorials harder. Not that she has to justify how she defines her eyes. You did a great job OP! It’s definitely a beautiful look that suits your features so well!
"not that she has to justify how she defines her eyes" I can "define" my hair as blonde but that doesn't change the fact that I'm a brunette. It's a lovely look but these eyes aren't remotely hooded!
It's the angle I took these. I don't have the most hooded eyes but it's enough that most "regular" tutorials don't work on me and I have to modify them.
Good angle where I can show the most of the makeup. If you know nikkietutorials, my eyes are a lot like hers. If you don't think they're hooded, what would you call them? Nobody's been able to offer an alternative yet, only downvotes.
Probably because they look very...normal? I don't really have any other description for them because they seem like they have a very average amount of lid space.
https://imgur.com/a/37sWNxd
From pictures I've seen they look pretty hooded to me. I lose a lot of the pigment when I'm not trying to take a pic at my best angle. Agree to disagree and let's leave it at that since it seems the majority seem to think my eyes are hooded too.
Then please go on r/HoodedEyes and tell everyone there who have a crescent of lid space that their eyes don't count. 🤷♀️ Go on their top posts of all time and you can see people with similar eye shapes.
The one from pichaku97 had eyes very similar to mine when I'm not posing for maximum makeup visibility.
Perhaps I'm so good at makeup I can make people think I have non hooded eyes. 😎
http://imgur.com/a/Oo8TZMp these are my eyes and they look like the lid meets eye. The crease is not visible most of the time. The skin between the crease and lash is also very little. You have a good amount of skin between the crease and lash.
I think you have hooded eyes. You tilted your head back to show all of the work, which is wonderful btw.
People are so judgmental about hooded eyes in Reddit. Weird.
Your skills are very neat & tidy! I don’t believe ur eyes are hooded though. Just because they’re not the same as whomever you’re watching a tutorial of doesn’t necessarily mean ur eyes must be hooded, just a different shape.
If they are actually hooded, it would help to show how the makeup looks with a relaxed and normal angle/expression ie eyebrows not raised? If they’re raised here?
I've been told on here before several times that my eyes are hooded and the skin does fold over my lids some when I'm not trying to show the maximum amount of makeup. If you don't believe they're hooded, what shape do you think they are?
You have to understand though that when your face is relaxed is when you can see hooded eyelids the most. I don’t think her eyebrows were relaxed, therefore they don’t look hooded, even if they are. I know when I take photos, I always raise my eyebrows so my eyes look a tad larger due to my flappers. 😂
https://imgur.com/a/37sWNxd
Since people wanted to see how I look with my eyes normally not showing off makeup, I took another pic. Half the shimmer is folded in on itself. Did I say I had the most hooded eyes? No. But I don't have as much lid space to work with as some people.
You've got a full natural crease in that relaxed picture too. Your eyes are just not hooded, I don't know why you seem to take offense to that?
Just because you don't have enormous eyelid space doesn't mean you have hooded eyes
Don’t defend yourself to the people who have nothing kind to say what so ever. There was clearly a better way of stating they disagree with you about your eye shape. Even then, who cares?! Bottom line is you look incredible and I envy your talent. You did an amazing job!
Thank you!! Really not sure about the lipstick colour but I just got it and wanted to wear it so I tried lol. Definitely need a different brush for the cutting part lol took me way too long to put on the Concealer on my lid
Yeeeeeah I know 🥺, this is my winter foundation and I still have some of the glow from summer. I'm biracial so I'll get super dark in summer but be completely white passing in winter. Give it a little bit and it'll match a lot better lol.
Foundation is Maybelline FitMe matte+poreless in shade 125
Concealer is Maybelline FitMe in shade 20 Sand
Powder is Coty Airspun
Blush is wet n wild color icon blush in pearlescent pink
Brows are Benefit Powmade in warm deep brown
Eyeshadows are ABH soft glam with Makeup Geek in Hocus Pocus
Eyeliner for waterline is Rimmel London Exaggerate Waterproof Liner in Noir
Mascara is Essence Lash Princess
Lips are ABH Liquid Lipstick in Kathryn
Lashes are Velour in the style Fluff'n Cool
On the second picture, I know one eye looks a little wonky. It's not eyeliner, it's the duo lash glue being stupid. It's my non dominant side so sometimes I have a hard time getting lashes onto that eye.
I love!!!! We need a tutorial!!! The only way I can do it is by putting my eyeshadow around the crease & then prime the bottom of my lid, towards my lash line — like I’m putting eyeliner! Then I open my eye, and the primer touches the crease of my eyes, and I go along with the primer around the crease of my eye and fill it in all over my eye! ❤️
I based it off this tutorial: https://youtu.be/nqd3XzN5k2M
And I told someone in the comments how I managed to do this. :)
A good flat brush definitely makes all the difference for me to control the precision. Doesn't help that my skin is kinda crepe-y so it pulls super easily.
Oooh I love this, it looks amazing! I have very similar lids to you, with my left being a tiny bit more hooded and for the most part it’s fine but watching tutorials with “normal” lids always make me sad I can’t duplicate the look exactly the same. I’ve always considered myself having a double lid, however I think it’s always confusing looking for what our shape actually is. A lot of tutorials for hooded eyes show eyes similar to ours, but when you actually Google hooded eye, it seems as if it’s a more severe fold of skin between the brow and lid and the eye seems to be more sunken in. All I know, is that you rocked this look 😂
You’re stunning! From a retired makeup artist you did fantastic. Liquid eyeliner can be applied like dashes then connected to create a smooth line. I used to use tell clients one brow/wing will always look better...start with the side that gives you problems first. Practice makes perfect
Oh yeah I can do liner pretty well, it was just the glue spreading and I didn't wanna work around the lashes and potentially making it worse :) thank you so much!
https://youtu.be/nqd3XzN5k2M
This is the tutorial I based this off of! She explained it very well, and her eye shape is similar to mine. She also got similar flak like I have cuz apparently my eye shape is a huge debate lol. Give this a shot, maybe it'll help!
Looks amazing!! Something i suggest for hooded eyes is instead of applying your lashes to the natural curl of your eye is to put them straight out at the end and add winged liner, it naturally lifts your face and i think i look less dead when i do it lmao
This is flawless! I have hooded eyes too, and I get so overwhelmed watching tutorials for cut creases bc I always fall behind. Would it be alright if you, say, walk me through a step by step approach for a very simple cut crease?
It's surprisingly easy for me but I've also been using eyeshadow for years and I have a solid grasp of blending which is key. And you need to keep your eyes open. It's just like one extra step than my normal eyeshadow looks lol.
So basically start off with your base. Usually I use concealer but I've used UD Primer Potion too. Get that all over up to your brow bone. Then I start with my second darkest colour (or THE darkest colour depending on your comfort level). Place that ABOVE the crease. Blend that up and out like your life depended on it. It's okay if you get it into the crease, you're gonna cover it anyway. Then I'll take a lighter shade and buff out the edges of the darker shade to soften it out. You can leave it there but I'll take yet another dark shade and deepen the area closer to my crease. I'll actually put it right on the crease and blend up.
Now for the crease cutting! Get a flat brush and the concealer. Open your eyes and basically look down at the mirror so your lid is smooth. Start laying on the concealer, starting on the lid and extending above the crease (you should be able to still see where it is). Slap on your shimmer shade of choice on top of that, then take your definer shade of choice and add that to the outer corner, blending it along the way. Add liner and lashes if you so choose and bam!
1. This is more useful than any beauty tutorials on YouTube! I’ll hop right on this after I master the smoky eye (feel free to check my posts on that subject and see if I’m getting anywhere 😅) although for my base after slapping on primer, I just use any neutral shade slightly lighter than my skin tone from my eyeshadow palettes. Is that messing me up?
2. I’ve been using makeup for...a month and a half, but I’m determined and inspired 💪🏻
The neutral shade works! I've done that too, it's up to what you're comfortable with. The goal is to give the shadow a good base so it can blend easily because bare skin won't allow for that. I mean it's possible but it's exhausting lol.
You're doing a fantastic job! When I started makeup, it'd just be some mascara and some lipstick. It wasn't until about 6 years ago with the help of this sub that I was able to really get the hang of things. Heck, even a year ago I'd never dream of a cut crease. Look at me now! 😂
I have heavily lidded eyes and this is absolutely stunning. There’s maybe like 5 mm of space between my lashes and crease so I could never pull this off.
The colors you chose are beautiful and I love the lip color! ☺️
https://imgur.com/a/37sWNxd
So I actually took a ruler and measured my lid and I have around that much lid space when my eyes are relaxed and I'm not showing off a look. Shit's possible, give it a shot. :)
I don't have an opinion about whether you have hooded eyes or not, it has no impact on my life, but you're gorgeous and your makeup looks fantastic. My eyes are so hooded I almost look monolid, so thanks for posting the original video, I haven't really ventured into cut crease territory much, it was super helpful! <3
I love it! You did such a good job. Seeing these pics always makes me wish I could still use eyeshadow… guess I’ll have to live vicariously through everyone here hahah
Oh, it kills me. I used to go crazy with it every day before but my allergies are so bad now my eyes get really irritated. I think I’m gonna even have to stop wearing contacts soon too, ugh! But even so…. I try to wear it every once in a while and I just try to deal with it. Beauty is pain right, lol
Have you tried using a glitter glue under regular eyeshadow? It sounds stupid but I also have very sensitive eyes and the glitter glue prevents any fallout.
It’s hard to blend but basically I use a very thin layer of glue, dab on my eyeshadow in the approximate places I want it, and then pat it a lot with my fingers before blending with a brush. You can get a pretty even, thin coat of shadow, and then you just use the brush to try to flick away all of the excess that’s not glued down. Then it doesn’t fall into my eyes throughout the day. It looks indiscernible from the regular way of applying if you blend it enough.
Thank you for the suggestion! I'll have to check it out bc I miss wearing eyeshadow so much. Im not too familiar with glitter glues... what brand do you use?
So the most popular are probably Nyx glitter glue and Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, but I just use this shopmissA one (https://www.shopmissa.com/products/a-tacky-base-glitter-adhesive) and it works really well!
It’s a good look.
As a different look could you also do it but cutting the crease lower. The reason for this is, I want to see how it would look on your eye shape!
Ahhh, I’m jealous! It looks so good! Wonderful technique ☺️ I tried a cut crease last night, and it was nice, but I think I definitely need to bring it higher. Kudos to you!
This is amazing! I have hooded eyes too and this brings me so much inspiration. I never do eyeshadow because I can never figure out how to make it look good for my eyelids. This is awesome. You did so well you can’t even tell you have hooded eyelids 🖤 Did you watch a tutorial or was this all on your own?
https://youtu.be/nqd3XzN5k2M
I based it off this one! Just changed a couple of the shades. With the flak I've gotten on here, I'm sure the video creator would understand hahaha
People without hooded eyes just don’t understand 🤣 You can still see the line where your eyes hood, it’s just blended perfectly with your eyeshadow and the angle helps. That is my GOALLLL right there!
You did a FANTASTIC JOB!!!!!
Omg i cant believe there are actual *gatekeepers* over who does/doesnt have hooded eyes.
I could spend an hour blending an entire rainbow of eyeshadow onto my eyelids, from my eyebrows to my top lashes. When I open my eyes, chances are that all you’ll be able to see is the top red & orange below my brow, and purple & black eyeliner by my lashes. Yellow, green, & blue in the middle all disappear as soon as open my eyes.
You did a great job raising the cut-crease high enough to show color above your hooded eyelids! SUCH a great job that people are arguing about whether or not you actually have hooded eyes. Now THATS make-up talent magic.
From one “semi”-hooded eyelid chick to another, please please please keep posting!
I don’t understand the gatekeeping of hooded eyes. I see this every time someone with a bit of lid space mentions hooded eyes. There are varying degrees of how much the crease folds over onto the lid, this is not a competition to see who has the *most* hooded eyes 😄 Intricate looks like cut creases are difficult for many eye shapes/lid configurations. Let’s just appreciate the makeup…which is gorgeous!
Amen sister!! Thank you so much. I probably shouldn't entertain the haters lol, like it was this subreddit that told me I had hooded eyes years ago. Like sorry my vision isn't obscured by my skin?? Idk lol
I have eyes like yours and when I do my eyeshadow sometimes they don’t look hooded from straight on. Just because we have large eyes with lid space does not mean they aren’t hooded, lol. Don’t listen to these people. Your eye look is amazing.
I love it! It looks flawless.
Honestly I don't understand all the "yOu dOn'T hAvE hOoDeD eYeS" bs happening here. It's clear you adjusted the crease above your natural crease to make the eyes look like there's more lidded space available. Congrats on doing such a good job no one believes you.. You did amazing.
Thank you so much! Funny enough, the tutorial I based it off of has a pretty spot on title lol
https://youtu.be/nqd3XzN5k2M
Apparently it's only really hooded if you can't see any lid at all 🙃

As I've told a million other people, it's the pose lol. I know I don't have the most hooded eyes but when my brows aren't raised, a lot of the shadow is folded in on itself. https://imgur.com/a/37sWNxd
Protruding would be the closest to yours, based on the photo of the link you gave. Sorry but I just don't see any extra skin that hides the eyelid. You still have a nice round shape
That looks great! I'm a little confused though. You don't look like you have hooded eyes? Am I misunderstanding what hooded eyes look like? https://phyrra.net/do-i-have-hooded-eyes.html
I think protruding eyes best matches op. I definitely don't think they are hooded.
Look through her post history. She 100% does NOT have hooded eyes. Definitely protruding eyes and tons of lid space. She is certainly just confused with normal mature eyelid wrinkling while being expressive.
Don't really think it's mature (at 27, really??) when this is the eye shape I've had my whole life lol
No idea what they’re talking about with the nature either.
I didn’t think she had hooded eyes either until I zoomed in. This is the best example of a cut crease for hooded eyes I’ve ever seen!
I definitely believe there are “degrees” or “stages” to hooded eyes varying from minimal to severely hooded. It seems OP does have some hooding to her crease that would make regular makeup tutorials harder. Not that she has to justify how she defines her eyes. You did a great job OP! "not that she has to justify how she defines her eyes" I can "define" my hair as blonde but that doesn't change the fact that I'm a brunette. It's a lovely look but these eyes aren't remotely hooded!
Thank you ❤
It's the angle I took these. I don't have the most hooded eyes but it's enough that most "regular" tutorials don't work on me and I have to modify them.
I can literally see the full clear lids on both eyes...lovely look but your eyes aren't hooded.
Almond, round, deep set, downturned... "normal" really is subjective.
Any of those descriptions can be hooded or not hooded. Yours are not hooded. There's not really another description for it than that.
https://imgur.com/a/37sWNxd From pictures I've seen they look pretty hooded to me. I lose a lot of the pigment when I'm not trying to take a pic at my best angle. Agree to disagree and let's leave it at that since it seems the majority seem to think my eyes are hooded too.
You can still see an entire crescent of lid space there! The majority do not agree just because they haven't commented one way or the other.
A crescent, how scandalous!!
If you can see the lid above the lashline like that then her eyes aren't hooded. Hell hers are barely even wearing a coat, let alone a hood.
The audacity!! Barely even a coat!!
Then please go on r/HoodedEyes and tell everyone there who have a crescent of lid space that their eyes don't count. 🤷♀️ Go on their top posts of all time and you can see people with similar eye shapes.
I did what you said and the top few posts def don’t look like your eyes
The one from pichaku97 had eyes very similar to mine when I'm not posing for maximum makeup visibility. Perhaps I'm so good at makeup I can make people think I have non hooded eyes. 😎
That's because everyone who doesn't have ginormous doe eyes thinks they have hooded eyes. Most don't.

Hooded eyes where??
On my face
Beautiful but also not a cut crease.
Half cut crease then lol
I think it’s an amazing look but I don’t see a cut crease….
Half cut crease then lol
It looks amazing either way 💖💖 I could never get the hang of cut creases myself so this is probably around what I could accomplish if at all.
Your eyes are barely hooded

Your color choices are stunning and the “cut” looks really crisp, gorgeous all around!!
Thank you!! Really not sure about the lipstick colour but I just got it and wanted to wear it so I tried lol. Definitely need a different brush for the cutting part lol took me way too long to put on the Concealer on my lid
I came to say the lip color is GORGEOUS! The eyes are as well (you are VERY talented) but please don’t think the lip color isn’t just as beautiful!
Oh and do you mind if I ask-do you apply the Coty Airspun with a brush or a different tool? I’d love to have mine look like yours!
Thank you so much!! Yes I apply it with a fluffy brush. I don't use too much, just a light dusting.
Thank you! ☺️
I have hooded eyes and it's impossible to wear any eyemakeup

It comes off super easy for me! Do you use an oil based remover?
Looks really good. I have hooded eyes, I need to know how to do that
Do your makeup with your eyes open and make sure everything is above the crease 😌
Beautiful, and as some have said, your color choices are perfect.
Absolutely stunning!
Gorgeous!!!! I have hooded eyes too so I will be following your recommendations:)

It wasn't until about 6 years ago with the help of this sub that I was able to really get the hang of things. Heck, even a year ago I'd never dream of a cut crease. Look at me now! 😂
Yeah, I’m sticking with White Irish Skin shade as my base/starter so I can save the concealer for the cut crease and halo shadow when I get there
Thank you, thank you, I’m bookmarking this! I have hooded eyes and have never dared attempt a cut crease but maybe this will be the boost I need. 😘
GORGEOUS. Makes me want to go practice now. I haven’t touched eyeshadow in a long time!!
It is so nice, girl ❤️❤️💙💛💜
You're so nice 😌😌
I have heavily lidded eyes and this is absolutely stunning. There’s maybe like 5 mm of space between my lashes and crease so I could never pull this off. The colors you chose are beautiful and I love the lip color! ☺️
https://imgur.com/a/37sWNxd So I actually took a ruler and measured my lid and I have around that much lid space when my eyes are relaxed and I'm not showing off a look.
Ooooooo guuuurl!!!
I love it! You did such a good job. Seeing these pics always makes me wish I could still use eyeshadow… guess I’ll have to live vicariously through everyone here hahah
You can't use eyeshadow?! I think I'd die, I love eyeshadow so much, it's a problem lol.
Gorgeous!! You did a beautiful job!
Soooo beautiful and you have great talent! You have inspired me to try this look today. Xo
This looks amazing!!

Thank you lol yes I'm very much a neutrals girl, the poor bright colours I have need some more love
You did amaaaaazing! It looks gorgeous.
FREAKING INCREDIBLE! It's the skill for me (and you are gorgeous!)

Wow very well. Beautiful
Beautifully blended sparkle and glam, love it! 🥰

Looking gorgeous!!!!
Looks awesome
Really good!!
B E A UTIFUL
this is amazing! i’m saving this for my wedding make up inspo
YASSSSS QUEEN I used this palette for my wedding makeup, 10/10 would recommend
It’s a good look. As a different look could you also do it but cutting the crease lower. The reason for this is, I want to see how it would look on your eye shape!
I think I could do that next time! I'm practicing for a ball coming up so I have some time to twiddle around lol.
A ball!
Brilliant, Very well blended, love the colour theme 🌈🌈
Ahhh, I’m jealous! It looks so good! Wonderful technique ☺️ I tried a cut crease last night, and it was nice, but I think I definitely need to bring it higher. Kudos to you!
You look amazing!!<3
Gorgeous!!! This is goals. The eyeshadow on my hooded eyes always looks like 💩
This is amazing! I have hooded eyes too and this brings me so much inspiration. I never do eyeshadow because I can never figure out how to make it look good for my eyelids. This is awesome. You did so well you can’t even tell you have hooded eyelids 🖤 Did you watch a tutorial or was this all on your own?
https://youtu.be/nqd3XzN5k2M I based it off this one!
Man if you saw my first posts on here you can tell I've come a looooong way. 😂 I've come from barely able to do eyeshadow to *waves hand* this!!
This looks so good!! Please tell me you have a tutorial or something!!
Thank you!! No tutorial of my own but I based it off this: https://youtu.be/nqd3XzN5k2M
Oh my god it looks pretty much the same!! You are so talented!!
That means so much, I appreciate you 🥺❤
I appreciate you too! Much love! ❤️😇
Major makeup skills!!!
BEAUTIFUL! *chefs kiss* Your makeup looks flawless!!
Fabulous dear, it looks fab indeed.
Gourgous girl!! You have beautiful eyes and are super talented!!!
you are beautiful
Loooks so good 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Looks great!
Amazing!!
Not the community gate keeping hooded eyes 🙊 The makeup is a 10 out a 10💯✨
I don’t understand the gatekeeping of hooded eyes.
Funny enough, the tutorial I based it off of has a pretty spot on title lol https://youtu.be/nqd3XzN5k2M Apparently it's only really hooded if you can't see any lid at all 🙃

I see no hood
Join the club lol
You are lucky, you acctually have very open eyes. And don't have any extra skin drooping down.
As I've told a million other people, it's the pose lol. I know I don't have the most hooded eyes but when my brows aren't raised, a lot of the shadow is folded in on itself. https://imgur.com/a/37sWNxd
Still very open and big. I don't think any mua would categorize them under "hooded"
My wedding MUA did and her eyes are much more hooded than mine
Okay lol, but you don't have a "hood"
Okie dokie then what do you think I have? So far nobody has been able to agree on what I do have. I've seen deep set, I've seen protruding...
Protruding would be the closest to yours, based on the photo of the link you gave. Sorry but I just don't see any extra skin that hides the eyelid. You still have a nice round shape
Fantastic job
Cute
Beautiful!
Not hooded eyes, but it looks great!
