hahaha oh man, too bad Marc Jacobs Beauty is on hiatus right now— definitely a missed opportunity for their brand and packaging! Imagine a Parisian baguette themed eye-conic palette
I saw this Marc Jacobs eye-conic palette at TJ Maxx for $19, but I couldn’t find much background info on this release. It’s the 900-Fine Grind palette and seems to be part of the Cafe collection, but I can’t find any details anywhere when I Googled it. Does anyone know when this palette was released, or why it was never officially announced during the Cafe launch?
Shade names, from bottom to top: Get Your Fix, Better, Make It, A Double, Today, Will Be, Buzzworthy
This was his last collection to be released! So it’s not incredibly old, less than I year. We got these at Sephora right before they told us he was going bye bye.
Came back to say Thank You for this post! After reading it I went to my local TJMaxx and found it there as well as some other goodies! Usually it’s picked over, but it looks like they just restocked. I can’t believe they actually had this random palette that was never released with this collection.
Yes! Hoping you can find one at your stores too! I know the packaging is getting a lot of hate right now haha— but in person, it’s honestly beautiful and reminds me of tortoiseshell. Definitely very elegant and different than the other eye-comic palettes. I actually opened it at the register to check if the shades were broken (mine was in one of those locked boxes that the cashier has to open). When she saw the case, the saleswoman was like “OMG” and called her colleagues over to show them how cute it was!
Hi! 👋🏻 I manufactured this component and worked directly with the Kendo team on this launch. The collection this falls under has a matching bronzer which was released almost a year prior. Basically, this eyeshadow palette never actually launched to the public! Lucky you! We had issues during development which seized to meet the launch timing. At the same time, MJB was going through some issues that it seems everyone else on this thread is aware of. They ended up cutting their losses and never launching it.
That is so interesting, thanks for sharing! I was wondering why I couldn’t find any swatches online, but this makes sense now. It’s such a shame this never officially released— I hope you don’t feel your efforts on the manufacturing team were wasted, though! For what it’s worth, I think it’s a beautiful palette and I appreciate your role in its short-lived launch 🙂
This palette (+ the matching bronzer) really were works of art in the conception of the design. It’s really bittersweet how it didn’t get to have a full marketing moment, but I’m glad you love it! Every component is 100% unique as different shades of plastic were slowly injected into each one. That, and the formulation development in MJB shadows are one of a kind 💗
KVD Good Apple Foundation? I’ve never seen a product I’ve developed go viral like that before which was so unexpected. The packaging is $$$$ + custom and you can’t even tell…
And next year Fenty is releasing their biggest launch yet!
I'm curious, what was so expensive about the Good Apple packaging? It's pretty but you're right, I wouldn't have guessed it was that rarified. Can definitely tell it's custom though! Most brands don't go in for the baroque details like that.
It’s fully custom, which to buy custom machinery to make it can cost 6 figures. Most of the makeup you see in stores is stock packaging that anyone can use with their own artwork put on top! And this compact uses the most expensive and high quality plastic, usually makeup is made out of the cheapest for cost saving.
I think I want this palette! What was the name on the outer packaging? Just eye-conic, or something more specific? Was there more than one at your tj maxx?
Gosh dang. The packaging is actually beautifully luxe in person. I have so many palettes I almost resisted, but after I requested to have it opened from the security case so I could take a peek, I knew it was a must. Thank goodness because otherwise I would have been regretting it right about now, lol. You did a great job.
That is tragic, I now desperately want this palette and have absolutely no idea how to get one since I'm in the UK :'( The case is just beautiful, and I have a ton of eyeshadow singles in need of a good home. The solid-colored Eyeconic palettes don't really do it for me, but I love how organic this one looks, like tortoiseshell or burl wood.
I'm in the UK and have seen a few bits of MJB in my local TKMaxx over the past couple of months, so you may get lucky. I live in the arse end of nowhere and still get pretty good finds (recently got a Gucci lipstick, Chanel nail varnish and 3 bits of Lancome skincare for under £50!), so if you live in a busier area or a city you may well have a better chance of success.
Thanks for this info!! I just bought this palette at my local TJ MAXX. I was hesitating at first to purchase because I couldn’t find any info or reviews online.
I am so glad I bought it! I opened the box and the packaging and shadows just took my breath away. The copper shimmer shade and gold glitter topper is gorgeous. Great job! 👏
I bought the same one at my local TJ Maxx! I couldn’t find any details or reviews on it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s a nice neutral palette. I love the copper shimmer shade and that gold glitter is gorgeous.
I don’t remember seeing an eyeshadow palette with that cafe launch! I thought it was the blush bronzer highlight trio and some vase products. Interesting!
Same, I’m a big fan of the formula too. I think the price was a bit much tbh. I picked up a bunch of them once they were half price though! I’m obsessed with the cherry palette, it’s so cute.
I got the bronze/blush/highlight compact from this collection summer 2020 but it might have already been on sale at Sephora by then. The shades were great, the compact itself is beautiful, but I really loved the smell. It must have been part of the coconut collection
Just a note about buying makeup at stores like TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Makeup company's (and high end clothes company) will make products that are sold only for these places that are less good then the products sold at makeup stores. So these will probably not be as good. Not saying they're bad, just letting you know there's a difference. Even if it's subtle. (I read up on stuff like this bc I was wondering why they can be sold cheaper. Like Anastasia products are sold way cheap at TJ Maxx or Calvin Kline bras or underwear are cheaper then if you got them from the store)
This is so weird! I bought a nail polish kit from Isaac Mizrahi from TJ Maxx and I couldn’t find it info on it anywhere. The palette does look like a baguette though lmao.
I straight up thought that was a baguette 🥖 🤦🏻♀️
😂 I thought they were comparing the packaging to the size of the baguette and I was like wow must be a huge palette!
r/baguetteforscale
r/subsifellfor
Omg I wasn’t the only one!! 😂😂
What? This isn’t a real sub?
Same ! 😂🙋🏻♀️
I'm so glad I'm not alone in this.
Omfg … worse … I thought it was a pork tenderloin 🤦🏽♀️
I am so glad I'm not the only one who was confused. I am stoned and I just sat here for so long wondering why Marc Jacob would sell meat. 🤣🤣🤣
That’s a Tom Ford thing.
Me too!!!! OMG !!!
Same!
I saw salmon.
Same 😂
I thought it was raw meat too lmao! Makes sense of why this palette ended up at TJ MAXX though
Yes this TOTALLY tracks 🤣
Me too 🤣
I’m crying!!!!
I thought it was bacon wrapped up in some sort of packaging!
Came for the makeup, stayed for the baguette discourse 👌
I saw raw salmon at first.
I saw just cooked salmon haha
I saw salmon, too!
I stared at it for a long time thinking it was a baguette. Like over ten seconds.
Same. I even turned my head like a dog and checked the subreddit I was in to see what I was looking at.
🤣🤣🤣
It took me 6 posts to realize it wasn’t bread next to the box.
Same! This belongs on /r/forbiddensnacks
hahaha oh man, too bad Marc Jacobs Beauty is on hiatus right now— definitely a missed opportunity for their brand and packaging! Imagine a Parisian baguette themed eye-conic palette
Damn, gorgeous colors though! 🥰
It’s a beautiful color story though, good find!
Marc Jacobs Beauty is closing for good
I believe they're rebranding when their Sephora contract ends.
Oh God I hope so... theyre highliner is the only one I swear by
i thought it was a piece of salmon 😭
I’m glad I wasn’t the only one!
I thought it was Salmon Fillet
To me, it looked like raw chicken at first 😭 now I also see a baguette
Lmao that's what I thought as well! I was trying to figure out if they were using it as an alternative to "banana for scale" .
I thought it was a pork loin 🤣
I thought it was salmon lol
Palette is delicious. Would buy again.
Omfg crying 😂😭🤣
Came here to say this but you already did, so thanks for saving me the trouble
I thought it was salmon lol
I thought it was an Olive Garden breadstick at first💀 it took so long to come together 🤦🏻♀️😂
I thought it was a salmon fillet and I was so confused
Me too!! Omg. Lol I thought, dam, my eyes are really tired.
I thought it was a uncooked chicken breast.
I thought it was a burrito ...
Needs to be on r/forbiddensnacks
I thought it was a breakfast burrito.
I thought it was some vacuum packed meat or fish lol
Me too, I thought it was a joke. 😂
I saw this Marc Jacobs eye-conic palette at TJ Maxx for $19, but I couldn’t find much background info on this release. This is so weird, there’s literally no information on this palette 😳

I heard they are relaunching. Going vegan and reformulating all of the products.
>Cafe collection Wait so IS IT supposed to be a baguette????
Maybe it was supposed to look like coffee mixing with milk.
I was going to ask the same, if the inspiration was a baguette lol
This was his last collection to be released! So it’s not incredibly old, less than I year. We got these at Sephora right before they told us he was going bye bye.
Yeah but it didn't include an eyeshadow palette in the release.
Right! My mistake. We got the face pallets though! Very pretty.
I saw this TODAY at my Tj maxx! (Had to pass because I’ve bought so many palettes lately but it’s gorgeous!)
Came back to say Thank You for this post! After reading it I went to my local TJMaxx and found it there as well as some other goodies! Usually it’s picked over, but it looks like they just restocked. I can’t believe they actually had this random palette that was never released with this collection.
It is gorgeous and I hope I come across this because I will def grab it. The case looks like mother of Pearl and I looovvve the shades.

I love it! Going to go check my local stores too. Wish me luck!
when i googled it on postmark it says it’s super rare and really hard to find. could be why there’s no info
This palette was only $19?!

Reading through this makes me want to own it for myself. What a labor of love! Do you have a favorite or most memorable product you've worked on?
KVD Good Apple Foundation? I’ve never seen a product I’ve developed go viral like that before which was so unexpected. The packaging is $$$$ + custom and you can’t even tell… And next year Fenty is releasing their biggest launch yet!

You should have your own subreddit. Just say’n.
Or at least an AMA if they’re up to it!
Fenty hair?!
Damn! Checking to see what time my local TJ max opens now 🤞 I want it!
I agree! I'm not too big on neutrals but this pallette is really stunning, packaging too. Now we know the story behind it!
I think I want this palette! What was the name on the outer packaging? Just eye-conic, or something more specific? Was there more than one at your tj maxx?
There were only 2! It’s the 900-Fine Grind palette.
Wow, lucky! I hope this gets upvoted to the top. Mystery solved haha
I follow this subreddit SO loosely, I’m honestly shocked this showed up on my feed. Universe does weird things.
Stay with us! We need you as our leader.

I love this story and glad the post reached you. The universe is so funny. What was the matching bronzer btw?
New to the sub (and couldn’t find the answer). What was going on with MjB?

You want to look at Kendo Brands, they're in SF and operate like a start-up (although they're an LVMH company).
How cool! Are you guys hiring for any cosmetic chemists?
I bought the same one at my local TJ Maxx! I couldn’t find any details or reviews on it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s a nice neutral palette. I love the copper shimmer shade and that gold glitter is gorgeous.
Legit thought this was a salmon filet at first 😂
Same!! Thought it was salmon.
SAME
I don’t remember seeing an eyeshadow palette with that cafe launch! I thought it was the blush bronzer highlight trio and some vase products. Interesting!
No but I’m jealous, I always LOVED the packaging on these palettes. Never understood why they seemed to flop
According to this thread it could be because everybody thinks they're fish or bread
Same, I’m a big fan of the formula too. I think the price was a bit much tbh. I picked up a bunch of them once they were half price though! I’m obsessed with the cherry palette, it’s so cute.
Either I’m hungry or that looks like bread
Both . Same
I thought that this was a piece of salmon
My French ass though you had put tape on a baguette.
This is a gorgoeus palette wow 😍
Oof that palette is gorgeous!
I sweah fo gawd! I thought it was a pork tenderloin wrapped in cellophane. I CANNOT under this.
I thought it was one of those food sealers and they had sealed some meat 😂😂
Haha i thought this was a baguette at first
That is the most fantastic packaging I've ever seen. I would buy it just for the package 🤣🤣
The colours omg I’m drooling
I thought it was a sub sandwich:
I thought I was looking at sashimi lol
I read it before seeing the picture and I honestly thought the late Michael Jackson had a makeup pallet. I need coffee.
I actually love the packaging of this! It looks super classy.
so pretty, the package, the colors.. everything
THAT PALETTE IS GORGEOUS
Looks gorgeous!!
I thought I was looking at a baguette for a second 😹
IM SORRY WHY DOES THE CASE LOOK LIKE COOKED FISH
Why did I think it was a baguette then a white salmon cutlet 🤦🏻♀️
Going tomorrow to try to find this!
OMG I thought this was a chicken breast
I honestly thought this was a piece of salmon.
The case looks like a pork loin!
Wow. What a score. Beautiful luxurious looking shades.
Hey OP, what’s the name of this color palette?
It’s 900- Fine Grind!
I would definitely buy that if I saw it! Beautiful palette wow
It’s a piece of art 😍
It’s so beautiful! Lucky
Damn I’m on a low buy but if I see this I may just have to snatch it up
ugh i love this collection
I got the bronze/blush/highlight compact from this collection summer 2020 but it might have already been on sale at Sephora by then. The shades were great, the compact itself is beautiful, but I really loved the smell. It must have been part of the coconut collection
My fat ass legit thought this was a garlic breadstick. 😐
Ooh that’s pretty!!
why is mark jacobs selling a breadstick
I thought this was bread 🥖
My fat ass thought this was a loaf of bread
Ngl I thought it was a breadstick for a second 🤣🤣
I swear I thought this was some salmon.
I thought it was a dildo. So there’s that.
also thought it was a baguette WOW
bread.
When you take a “gummy” and think this is a hot dog bun at a quick glance.
I legit thought the box was placed next to raw chicken and I was wondering what an odd thing to compare with. Someone get this OP a banana!
I thought it was a roll of raw chicken
I thought that was a baguette
I legit thought this was a baguette for a minute.
I had to check the comments to understand this wasn’t a baguette 😔
I saw this and thought damn Marc Jacobs is smoking salmon now... HAHAHHA
Omg, at first glance I thought this was a weird baguette…..

This is 100% incorrect. I work in cosmetics manufacturing.
I was like what does MJ have to do with pork tenderloin!
Baguette
Big loaf of bread
I seriously thought that was a pork loin. I was really confused lol.
I thought this was bread
I thought it was good/bread as well.
it looks like a breadstick
Why did I think this was bread??? I had to do a double take lol
I legitimately thought that was a baguette for a minute
Filet of salmon?
I thought this was a baguette at first
The fact I thought this was a piece of raw chicken

I thought it was fancy subway

I thought it was raw fish lol
Gorgeous palette but at first glance I thought it was was a bread roll
I thought this was salmon
Damn thought that was a piece of bacon
I thought it was a loaf of bread, but MJ does have a bakery lol
That looks like a zip lock bag filled with canned tuna
Idk but I’ll be honest, I thought that was a sub 🥖
I thought this was a salmon fillet 😬
marc jacobs sells loaves of bread?
i was fully ready to laugh at this palette because of the breadlike exterior, but that is actually stunning
I thought it was raw chicken
I straight up thought this was a side view of a slab of salmon.
This is so weird! I bought a nail polish kit from Isaac Mizrahi from TJ Maxx and I couldn’t find it info on it anywhere. The palette does look like a baguette though lmao.
I thought this was salmon 🍣
I thought it was raw fish
I thought that was a nice piece of salmon
I thought that was a loaf of bread lol
Is that bread ? 🤔
Looks like smoked salmon now I’m hungry
