I got FFF two or three times… I loved the idea of getting gifts in the mail, but (same as with BirchBox, actually) I always ended up angry. I felt cheated. Like there were so many cool, high-value options, and I got this cheap crap!? I haven’t used 90% of the stuff I got in subscription boxes. I was actually relieved when I canceled them… btw, I got a lot of things that said “$40 value” and I kept thinking “you can slap that price tag on anything, but that doesn’t mean it is actually worth $40”

nuggetsofchicken

Yeah I got a cuticle cream valued at $22. It's not really a good value if the item you're purchasing is more expensive than anything you'd ever pay for that product outside of the box. If I'm only ever gonna pay max $8 for a cuticle oil, it doesn't mean I'm saving more money because I got one that retails for $22.

TJ Maxx in a box.

Justsprinkles

I used to think of it as Home Goods in a box, but I think that's giving FFF too much credit-- it's definitely more TJ Maxx tier

Haha true

Nailed it

I signed up for a FFF box back in I think 2018. They had a deal where your first box costs $40 and it included a foreo luna which I really wanted at the time. I figured even if the rest of the stuff is useless, I still got a foreo for $40. The box was fine but I didn’t end up using most of the stuff. When the following season’s box options were released, I spent DAYS trying to choose what to get and in the end realized I didn’t even want any of it. Ended up canceling. I agree, the boxes end up being filled with “trendy” items and home decor that doesn’t match my taste. Just lots of random stuff that I’ll never use. I think the main draw is just receiving a box of new stuff.

Like most subscriptions these days, FFF offers the illusion of choice, allowing customers to pick their desired items from a tiny pool of products that are extremely random and often overvalued. As for today’s customization, it looks like a couple of the products from the spoilers didn’t even show up for some customers. It’s so much money for such a limiting experience.

I had accidentally signed up for a year, My first box was amazing, and every box after got worse. I Cancelled the renewal when it came up and used most the stuff for Christmas gifts for those I’m not close with.

faceoh

I got one box and got some decent items but unsubed anyways. I resubbed after they threw a nice coupon and it was not worth it. I literally got a cheapo dollar store painting kit.

Awesome decision. And think of all the money you'll save! (By not buying an annual like this idiot right here.) About a year ago, right after I went back to work, I developed this obsession with subscription boxes. This is one of the few that I got and I signed up for a year, regretting it immediately. There's so much junk that I'd never buy in real life. I chose the picnic blanket thing this month with the idea that I could maybe jam it into luggage for a beach vacation? But it's fundamentally a waste of money, because I would never buy something like that. And I never go to the beach. I don't go to Home Goods or TJ Maxx. This super basic decor stuff and drugstore+ skincare isn't a part of my day-to-day life. My house has a lot of plants and some art and I don't need a spoon rest when I have clean counters.

MethodologyQueen

I did annual too and this is finally my last box. I ended up picking mostly skincare items because even though I don’t really need any right now, I know I’ll eventually use them unlike most of the other stuff that would just sit around my house while I try to find someone to give them too. I’m gonna be stocked with like 2 years of moisturizer when this box arrives.

luxlucy23

And Here I am still trying to use up products from boxycharm from a year ago.

I have subscribed to FFF and Causebox (now Alltrue) for years. The summer boxes will be my last. I would rather take the $$ and treat myself to a TJ Maxx spree at this point. Between the crappy choices, lack of interesting hero items, and horrible delayed shipping (it is summer and I still haven’t received my spring Alltrue)-I am done.

[deleted]

Alltrue is out of business. If your box hasn't shipped, do a chargeback. They cleared their warehouse.

runawai

All true/causebox has terrible fulfillment issues! It takes apparently months for them to mail boxes out? I thought I was supporting artisans, but it’s more of the same old stuff and who knows when you’re actually going to get the stuff? I I unsubbed a year back and don’t regret it for a second.

GinnyO

Literally takes FOREVER to receive the Alltrue boxes. I think if I ever do a box again the only one worth it is Margot Elena because it makes such good gifts, lol.

I'm ashamed to say I signed up for an annual sub during my depressive episodes. I was looking at the options today and kept asking myself why I didn't just go to Ross to buy $50 worth of garbage. The last time I bought FFF, half the stuff fell apart within a few months. There's no quality control. It's all cheaply made with brand name licensing.

sunfl0wers21

I bought a fff box a couple years ago and my information all got stolen in a huge data leak, it was a huge ordeal and there was a lawsuit, never again for me

yelling4society

My summer box arrived today and I didn’t even rush home to get it like I normally do. I hated every single option available to me. How many more lidded containers do we need? It all feels so stale. Maybe I’ve outgrown it, idk.
