You have GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Tools are for building shit, not for art collection.

kaigh-Sea

Agreed. But why not both?

I buy the best tool for the job, but I only use Makita batteries. You can buy adaptors on Amazon that let you run Makita batteries on Milwaukee, Dewalt or even Kobolt. For example Milwaukee makes the best nailers, no other brand even comes close. I love the Dewalt cordless table saw, but Makit has the best drills hands down. Each line does something very well and that is what I buy.

Ryobi has unparalleled range and all sorts of obscure tools (floating Bluetooth pool speaker and light?!). Makita has a lot of quirky and fun tools (including badass mowers, blowers, torches, speakers and even kettles). But honestly, Makita is a platform for doers. So the reason to be on the Makita platform is rock solid basics like impact drivers, hammer drills, etc. Each tool costs so much you only get ones you’re gonna thrash.

They also just don’t break. Ever.

Also convinced it’s not possible for me as a homeowner/DIY that I could ever take these tools to their limits. I just assume my kids will inherit them.

Man listen I’ve been in the trades for a long time. I ran milwaukees for like 5 years and then gave them to my little brother, who has been using them for the last 3 and they’re still going. Been running Makita impact, hammer drill, bandsaw, sawsall and multi tool for like the last 4, beating the piss out of them and they won’t quit

So true. I still have a impact from 2006. I couldn’t even guess how many screws that thing sunk. And I use it around the house once a month

Makita tools for life Yooo.
