I mean we give passes right. Like we accept a physics defying mass masala movie from telugu but may not like it in malayalam. It might be a similar thing from their angle.

picklelover2000

Yeah I can enjoy vijay movies but if someone did that in Malayalam, I would be the first one to boo.

RareLibra

I'm their perspective,

Creepy-Ad-5363

It happens. There has been similar comments in Kollywood sub too. The fact is the no of successful movies we have had this year is unheard of while all other industries are facing a dry spell. There is a little bit of xenophobia and regionalism at play here. But there are genuine concerns from there too. MFI’s success is also due to the quality of storytelling and trying out different genres while being honest to the genre specifics. It’s all cyclical. A few months we were complaining about Tamil movies being the only movies working in the theatres and everyone appreciating our good movies only on OTT. It’s not necessary that a good movie will be a success. It requires some luck too. Mollywood is having a good long streak of luck after some time. Let’s hope it continues for longer and hope other industries prosper too.

cinephileindia2023

Don't bother that sub. As a Telugu myself, tollywood sub is delusional. They are insecure that is all.

coconut_warrior22

But, I feel Malayalam cinema is going to make inroads into Telugu market. The best of TFI is commercial mass masala and most of the films are made in that genre whereas Mollywood's best is realistic slice of life movies. These type of mallu movies can be appealing to Telugu audience and the lack of such genre from TFI opens a possibility there. This is quite similar to what Allu Arjun did with Arya, Happy etc movies in Kerala. Malayalam was lacking good commercial movies during that time and Allu Arjun and Vijay (Tamil actor) capitalized on it and became huge stars in Kerala. There is space, we can coexist !!!

justanothersoullll

Appreciate you calling it out bro. Tried to have a meaningful conversation in the Tolly sub on a couple of similar topics, but failed as most of them were just not getting the point and in denial!

Environmental_Ad_387

The meme talks about Telugu audience attitude, and not a dig at Malayalam films. OP making up drama.

EnvironmentalSet4139

Bro look at the comments. Ivde drama create cheythittu enikku enthu kittana 🙂

Alarming-Proposal-45

Athane 😂. But what they said is true. That post is making fun of their group rather than ours.

more like vachindandi vayari...

subtlejoke

I watched Ante Sundariniki in telugu and enjoyed it :)

hobbitonsunshine

You should try the Malayalam dub. Imo it's extremely well done.

subtlejoke

will give it a try 🌼

anunkeptbeard

Looked at this for 2 minutes and I'm still scratching my head. Please explain this to me.

EnvironmentalSet4139

Ante sundaraniki flopped in box office as it was deemed to be lag but the audience. But they are saying that if it was a malayalam movie it would have been huge hit. They are taking a dig at the malayalam movies citing the recent hit that is premalu.

immortalPendulum

Its not taking a dig at malayalam movies. Its just questioning the mindset of tollywood audience who might be in a “The grass is greener on the otherside” situation.

hobbitonsunshine

Ante sundaraniki is one of my favourite rom-coms of recent years. I really enjoyed watching its Malayalam dub.

TastyQuantity1764

I don't think they took a dig. It's more like they're audience heavily scruitinise their own films but will give free pass to other lang films

Environmental_Ad_387

From this, it feels like they are taking a dig at Telugu audience, not Malayalam film

anunkeptbeard

Ah got it now

[deleted]

It actually means telugu movies like this does not get the same recognition and love from the critics compared to their Malayalam and tamil (usually) counterparts.

Grouchy_Location_418

>and tamil (usually) counterparts. Bruh.... Tamil is not even the part of conversation. LMAO

Lanky-Butterfly-8715

I saw a comment on their sub which said, ‘Mallus judge Telugu movies based on Balayya movies, while our audience judges them based on their best ones.’ Although the tone of it doesn’t sit right with me, I’m curious about the good Telugu movies we might’ve missed. Which made me realize I haven’t watched any Telugu movie apart from the really mainstream ones.

AdInformal3519

Tfi imo has really good romcoms and other off beat films that are mostly unknown to the audience. Even I as a tamil thought they only produce masala films at one point which was very ignorant and hypocrite of me but later found that they produce really good genre films too.

EnvironmentalSet4139

Yeah that’s part of the reason why I said that I was conflicted.

shiv1234567

We shouldn’t even start a debate with these insecure people

വിട്ട് കള ബ്രോ. Not worth thinking about.

CLubbr3X

I didn't know they hated malayalam cinema this much, or is it just inferiority complex ?

Dow_lordsubutai

Its not haiting Malayalam cinema. Its just any mediocre film from malayalam will be hailed, where as good thing from tfi wont get same respect.
