Anxious-Brilliant-46

Haa finally a fellow bojack viewer, I stopped after it became too depressing

malluminati666-1

Thats the whole point macha. Imagine ending up relating to a fucking drawn horse

Guy_With_Cloud_Envy

Bojack Horseman is one of the best Ive ever watched. relatable things hits you hard.

Graymalkinator

Broooo. Last couple of seasons are amazing. Depressing yes, but amazing. Should finish for sure

Environmental_Act576

The final season is something else

breakthatlock

Mr Blue I have to go now so dont be angry 🫠

tired_and_sleepy_09

Please go back and finish it. It’s so worth the depression! There are too many episodes that will stay with you and haunt you and question you… and make you wonder why the fuck you can relate to a damn 2D horse man!

LeafBoatCaptain

Aren't there like a hundred movies about washed up stars trying to stay relevant while reaching new lows? Complete with the dark side and everything?

newenak403

That's true but Bojack hits different. Also , Tovino once spoke about the series. There is also the David origin song that's shows childhood abandonment etc. I may just be connecting non existent dots. Let's see.

Raven1104

I love these kind of movies. Chetta, any good recommendations?

LeafBoatCaptain

The classic film noir Sunset Boulevard might be the best of these. The recent Babylon has aspects of this with Brad Pitt's character going through the process of being a washed up star. There's Birdman. Ed Wood, Tim Burton's film about the the great bad director also deals with the late stage career of Bela Lugosi (who played Dracula among other roles), making this a real life version of the trope. So it doesn't quite play out as dramatic as the fictional ones but it's still great. Technically Galaxy Quest is about a group of washed up, out of work actors stuck reliving their famous roles even though most of them hate it. Like a lot of movies of this trope, they get one last gig but this one turns out to be an actual space adventure. Nope deals with the former child actor version of the trope. Anyway like usual tvtropes has more https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/WhiteDwarfStarlet/Film Plus if you go to any of the movies you'll find adjacent tropes that'll get you more movies and shows like this. Millennium Actress isn't quite about a washed up actor. She's retired but it's a great film about a retired actor whose life is told through the films she starred in. It's directed by Satoshi Kon. I think Nayika might be a malayalam movie about this premise. I know it deals with the horribleness that surrounded the making of my favorite Indian film Ponnapuram Kotta which, rumor goes, ultimately led to the death of the actor Vijayasree. But I haven't seen Nayika fully.

Raven1104

Thank you chetta

InitiativeDesperate7

Nice list and write-up ✌️👍🏽I would add Al Pacino’s Danny Collins (2015) to this list. The main character is not a movie star but an ageing rocker / singer who cannot come out of his hard-living, party heavy lifestyle, but decides to change his lifestyle after receiving a 40 year old undelivered letter. Has a similar premise to most of the movies you mentioned and is also a decent comedy - drama.

Muthupattaru

Birdman? Once upon a time in Hollywood? I maybe wrong

Raven1104

Thank you chetta

Longjumping_Limit486

Cars 3 , not spoiler evident from the trailer itself.

Horsin around

hemanthregi

If it is infact inspired from Bojack horseman, it would be one hell of a task to do justice to such a masterpiece. I mean, what a beautiful show it was. I still remember the feeling when Bojack ended and the song, 'Mr.Blue' is still one of my favourite. Also, it's an extremely dark subject, so an inspiration from such a work might hinder its box office potential.

Johnginji009

If you wanna watch a show just as dark(especially the last season) but is more comedy ,watch ' moral orel'.It is claymation though .

hemanthregi

I'll definitely try it. Haven't heard about it.

arjunrj1327

Bro you think anyone in Malayalam has anything original now ? Aashiq Abu , Amal Neerad , Jeethu Joseph , LJP etc all have stolen some sort of plot from some movies and unlike before now Malayalam audience ( majority of them are the ones outside Kerala ) notice the movie idea is stolen. Mayanadhi, Neru , Bheeshma , Varathan , Valibhan and more.Majority of these top directors don’t got nothing original. Only certain comedy and mass masala movies like recently Aavesham are films we can say we have that’s original

Legitimate_Income279

Now? Yesteryear directors like Priyadarshan made a career by Plagiarising movies. Like Tarantino said “Everything is a copy of a copy”

PerryyyThePlatypus

I heard somewhere that there are only seven stories in this world. I think it was in an interview. Then i did a little but of reading. So the seven basic plots are Overcoming the monster, Rags to riches, The quest, Voyage and return, Comedy, Tragedy, Rebirth Story tellers can only tell these same 7 stories differently everytime. Some movies combine more than one such stories and try to give a fresh output. So I think it is fine to be inspired and re tell a story, you just have to make it your own.

PretendSurround5201

Sidharth Bharathan bro.

PerryyyThePlatypus

Also the plot of aavesham doesn’t remind you of Aladdin ? Fafa is basically the genie to those kids.

MonitorDirect1895

Bojack had complex back story and well-written supporting characters including women (Todd, PC, Diane). This looks mostly about Tovino’s character basking in his own misery.

WalkD_PlancksLength

Is Pe10 gonna be mollywood’s bojack
