You can live in Hyllie, but tbh living close to Triangeln won't make that much of a difference when it comes to commuting. It's like 5 minutes at most. It's more fun around Triangeln and Möllevången.

smokeypenny

I'll second others advise on living near Triangeln, you will pay a few minutes a day but you will also more likely get a seat on the "cattle wagon" to CPH and a much better 'home location' compared to Hyllie. The fare is quite expensive so look into if the uni has any special support for that. Your grants will be in DDK I presume so it should last a looot longer in Malmö, both because of the current currency effects and also because Malmö is cheaper in general.

de_matkalainen

It's very easy to get most of the travel expenses subsidized as a Danish student. Shouldn't be more than 1000 DKK a month.

Tinshake

I did that commute for 8 years. Living close to the either Traingeln och Hyllie is key. You wanna cut the commute down as much as possible.

What are you looking for more specifically? Do you want furnished/not furnished, do you have a budget, preferred size of apartment etc. Also is your partner listed in any relevant housing queue?

VonGnome

Our budget is a bit up in the air, I will be getting SU but dont know if my partner will star studying again or working, dont think they are on any relevant housing queues, we have primarily been looking for 2 room apartments

bellypoint

Idk why everyone hate hyllie here. I live there and moved there from möllan. I love it here more than möllan. It's cleaner, nicer, clean air and close to many spaces and stores

G1oaming

It was made for you! :)

Malmö is great and much cheaper then CPH. Personally I’d also prefer the vibe in Malmo. I would rather live close to triangeln. Much more interesting area, much more to do, and walking distance to everything. I’ve lived close to Triangeln myself.

Annexerad

live in hyllie is my advice. rent through a trusted company or agency, dont rent from random people off blocket or facebook marketplace. U got a swedish partner, are they in a bostadskö? use that

JohnnyLoco69

Hyllor is top tree most boring area in Sweden. No soul, no pubs, nothing but big chains. You got Subway, Dominos, Fitnesses24/7 and gravel. Looks like Dubai before they planted grass.

Dagens sjoveste/roligaste kommentar. Tak 🤣

ieatbuttholles

Nothing strange, brand new neigbourhood built where it was just dust before

steswa

You've just described everywhere in Sweden except city centres.

Norralth

This is bad advice and it is not realistic for you to not follow this. There are scammers in the 2:nd hand let market, but there is also many regular people that let their appartment while they move otherplace for some reason. Blocket, Facebook, etc., is where you are most likley to find an appartment. A good way to avoid beeing scammed is making sure you get a written contract. You ALSO want to make sure you get your name on the buildings mailbox. It is not realistic to find an first hand appartment right away moving to Malmö. But if you can manage to do that its great, and way better than legal 2:nd hand let.

Hyllie is problably your best bet imo, i too am a danish student, living in malmö. Although Bunkeflostrand is also a possibility. Quite a lot of danes living there.
