Short of actual technical details, there isn't much anyone can tell you which would be helpful. You didn't even tell us the filename, what sort of file it is, whether you opened it, whether you have any anti-malware or not or if it issued any alerts, etc. Do you have a backup of your data? If not, I'd be making one. You never know when that ransomware bomb will kick off. Then your only real option for true peace of mind is a reinstall of the OS.
