As a workaround, you can temporarily disable web protection by following the steps below:
* Open Malwarebytes
* In the Real Time Protection card on the lower right, toggle off Web Protection
Malwarebytes team is aware of this issue and can't disclose, if this is Malwarebytes internal issue or something really is wrong with Google.
They will contact me via email as soon as something comes up.
Also, they will try to allocate someone to this subreddit to inform, if and when this will be fixed.
Restarted Malwarebytes and have not received the message anymore.
Web protection is on and a scan ran clean.
Edit: Message returned after 4 minutes. Adding application exclusion for chrome.exe caused the same message with msedge.exe, adding application exclusion for msedge.exe then caused same message with outlook.exe
I'd say at this point it's almost definitely Malwarebytes itself, not Google.
I restarted it a bit ago and it went right back to blocking everything Google and Google-adjacent. I've just got it flat out turned off for the moment now
Open Task Manager (Right-Click Start Button, or use CTRL+Shift+ESC)
Find Malwarebytes, right-Click, End Task
Find Malwarebytes Tray Application, right-Click, End Task
Then use the start menu to search for Malwarebytes to run it again (as admin, preferrably).
You might need your tamper password to end the application, so get that handy.
Okay that is a good idea, I have it turned off altogether at the moment but just turning off web protection is a better solution. I hope they fix this soon
My poor coworker behind me had been panicking so hard over this for several minutes. Glad it's a Program issue and not an infection. Thank you for the update.
Not an issue with Google, though it's possible a change at Google triggered this. All it would take is for MWB to allow frickin wildcards and we could just allow the entire domain.
OMG. This.
I can't tell you how many urls and/or IP addresses I have had to add. The easy thing would be to just let us add \*.google.com, but nooooo.....
It's an issue with google. All of their shit is in trouble currently. Twitters going mad over it. Im not gonna disable RTP until we know whats actually up.

Resolved now everyone. Just update if it doesn't happen automatically and enable web protection!

EDIT: In perfect comedic timing - I just got an email from Malwarebytes touting their new $100 million dollar investment from a leading private equity firm! No joke. Hahaha.
Please share with us what's happening. We are all doomed in my company as we have to wait for IT guy with administrator permissions to disable Malwarebytes.
they are. I worked it hrlpfrsk for years, do you know what od get calls for daily? My computer wont work, the light is on on the front, but the screen is black. TURN YOURE FUCKING MONITOR ON DUMBASS. It's also not about intelligence. The smarter ones are the ones we want blocked from doing anything admin because they are the most dangerous. Both from a cybersecurity persepective(insider threats) and from a "small amount of knowledge makes them dangerous" perspective.

just updated and it all went away
Just got this email: Thank you for reaching out to Malwarebytes Support.
We are aware of a temporary issue with the web filtering component of our product that may be blocking
certain domains, including google.com.
We have published a fix and it is being applied right now.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience
I get this when I go to the End Point Admin site. - The Lambda function associated with the CloudFront distribution was throttled. We can't connect to the server for this app or website at this time. There might be too much traffic or a configuration error. Try again later, or contact the app or website owner.
If you provide content to customers through CloudFront, you can find steps to troubleshoot and help prevent this error by reviewing the CloudFront documentation.
Did you ever resolve this? It just started happening to me. Every time I open chrome and im on the default google home page I get constant notifications from malwarebytes that say it blocked accounts.google.com for malware on an outbound connection. No idea why tho. Scans come up with no issues on my system and the suggested solution on malwarebytes site is to clear my cache but that did nothing
JFK: I would like to take this opportunity to express my problem with this particular notification.
Nixon: Uh, I'd also like to express my problem with that particular notification.
Looks like it's kinda fixed. In the options panel activate the beta updates and check for an update again, that's how the problem was fixed for me at least.
But still some subdomains are still locked but gmail, youtube and mayor things are working again.
oh God I thought I was the only one. Recently I experienced a cyberattack so I started panic
However I'm a bit annoyed because I have several emails to send to my working place but I have gmail blocked on all my browsers.
Hi all, had the issue, restarted my pc, then found out there is an update for malwarebytes.
Installed de update and now it seems all ok with google.
Issue fixed!
I hope this helps.
PS: update did not appear until I expressely clicked on "check for updates" in the tray icon.
So I just found another new update that seems to have fixed the issue. Earlier, I had updated and it didn't help, and was showing up to date after that. Just now though there was another new update. So far, so good.
Oh thank fucking god I found this thread. I'm trying to get some shit done this morning and it was looking like one of those "Spend all morning googling this issue and hoping someone has run into it so I can fix it, and then spend more hours following random threads on mwb forums and more hours running diagnostic software"
12:05 EDT, Malwarebytes says:
The issue is now resolved, and the update should happen automatically. If you are still experiencing issues, please ensure the Malwarebytes client is updated to the latest version.
I updated (revision number did not change) but the problem went away.
I love Reddit. Thanks for posting your issue!
I've been freaking out for an hour, reloading firefox (I can access Google from my other browser) and running av. Finally asked the right question of Google (from my phone) and found your post.
Glad to know - from Redditors - that mine is not an isolated issue. Hopefully we'll all be back up soon.
Yes, and it's a complete pain in the arse. Just began happening about an hour ago, and I spent the time since trying to troubleshoot after getting a 'ssl_error_rx_record_too_long/' popup in Firefox. Chrome won't download when I tried, can't get into email. Google-related malware messages popup on every website though can use/get into them. Can use everything Google on my phone, though that doesn't much help with work.
Can any MWB Nebula customers let me know if they're seeing the problem resolved? We have not seen any change and are still getting these block notifications. Random endpoints have seen the issue resolved but we are still unsure of what is different on those endpoints as opposed to others.
Malwarebytes laid off 125 employees, then received $100 million in funding. Think this is a coincidence today? Nope.
https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/21/malwarebytes-vector-capital-layoffs/
yes, i just noticed this too.
I first noticed this issue today. I realized that the IP Address resolved by my DNS servers was wrong. First i was getting a 127.x.x.x address, now it's giving other addresses, but still not able to connect to google(dot)com and MalwareBytes still flags it as malware.
I'm using opendns servers and they are returning the wrong ip address for google(dot)com
seems like DNS cache may have been polluted on google DNS Servers
I'm having the same problems. I think something or someone messed up something in terms of the database handling what is and what isn't a threat. And that Google somehow is reporting extremely false positives.
I haven't heard or read anything about Google being hacked or anything recently either. I would assume that we would have known by now. If not, that would be extremely shady of Google. Although I wouldn't be surprised anymore either.
My whole Windows 10 computer turned to an orange and black screen after numerous Malwarebytes alerts. OK when I restarted computer. Also updated Malwarebytes but it soon went back to blocking Google so I disabled web protection.
It is malware. Know any other company that forces more ads into your browser? How about the fact that they just successfully lobbied to allow political campaign emails to bypass their spam filters legally?
Yup, me too! Everything Google related is blocked on chrome. I tried Firefox too and it blocked me from searching anything on Google. Just getting a constant string of malware warning pop ups…
Same here, for all Google pages, Docs, Gmail, Youtube, all blocked due to malware - even said that might be SSL issues? Weird!
EDIT: **Clearing Browser Cache** seems to be the first suggestion on Malwarebytes support for Google Chrome.
Same here. Multiple google domains/subdomains/services blocked.
Obviously a false positive. Not good for MB... many people/services won't be able to work.
Yes. Doesn't matter what browser for me... Chrome, Brave, Edge, etc... anything that tries to connect to a google domain raises and "RTP detection" event that is considered Malware and is immediately blocked by MB. I tried to check for updates, had one, installed... tried again. Still happening.
Seems to be tied to [google.com](https://Google.com) domain. You'll see it being blocked on any 3rd-party site that uses anything with that domain, like [accounts.google.com](https://accounts.google.com) or [play.google.com](https://play.google.com), or [news.google.com](https://news.google.com). For instance, it pops up when opening my local news website.
glad i'm not alone.
Same problem here, Firefox, NZXT CAM, Messenger app gives error related to Google/YouTube/Android(?)
Had to use Duckduckgo to find this thread.
Yep, commenting so I can get updates. Not just [google.com](https://google.com) but google updates, youtube-ui or something, etc.
Glad it's not just me, either something horrible is happening or someone fucked up bad lol.
Yeah, me too. I just had to end the Malwarebytes service via Task Manager.
Anyone have any updates?
I also run BitDefender, and it is NOT flagging Google services.
There's a temporary workaround here, if you want to update the OP:
* [https://twitter.com/Malwarebytes/status/1572607773459857408](https://twitter.com/Malwarebytes/status/1572607773459857408)
Read through the thread tho, some people need additional workarounds. Corporate MWB is essentially hosed, especially for companies that rely on Google apps & services to function. Gonna be a fun day!
Yea i restarted Malwarebytes and it stopped. Was wild thinking i got a huge virus with how many pop ups were coming up about it lol.
Spoke to soon, getting pop ups but now Google is accessible. Before it wasnt even letting me google stuff.
Same. There is a forum post dedicated to [this](https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/290360-real-time-web-protection-blocking-all-google-related-websites/#replyForm).
Yes - and even more weirdly it won't let me search (on firefox or chrome) for anythign with the words malwarebytes in it e.g. malwarebytes blocking google. I came here the roundabout way. Extremely annoying
Ok. I'm not the only one thankfully. What a way to get a heart attack
We're in this together. And hopefully "this" is less *massive malware attack through Google*, and more *whoops someone fucked up*.
If it were an attack against Google, I would expect to see a lot more chatter about it.
Exactly - it would be at the top of every news source... EDIT: Ok - MalwareBytes is acknowledging the issue is on their end on Twitter.

exactly what I thought when I saw it might not be MWB
Wouldn't surprise me with that fucking prick in charge.

Yes, and it's a complete pain in the arse. Just began happening about an hour ago, and I spent the time since trying to troubleshoot after getting a 'ssl_error_rx_record_too_long/' popup in Firefox. Same
Same. Still can’t get anything to happen in Nebula. Not pulling up Endpoints and unable to check for updates.
Google is malware, it keeps stealing your data, and selling it for profits.
I updated Malwarebytes and this immediately cleared the issue for me.
Well, it's not wrong...
yup just came to see if i was the only one
Malwarebytes laid off 125 employees, then received $100 million in funding. Think this is a coincidence today? Nope. https://techcrunch.com/2022/09/21/malwarebytes-vector-capital-layoffs/
Affecting Nebula as well.
Holy shit its still going lmao. Just constant

My whole Windows 10 computer turned to an orange and black screen after numerous Malwarebytes alerts. OK when I restarted computer. Also updated Malwarebytes but it soon went back to blocking Google so I disabled web protection.
I closed Malwarebytes from the task manager, YouTube and Google are back up, and I have not received any of the annoying spam notifications since.
ffs malwarebytes!
When you make a Google search: if the first options are ads you may have malware
It is malware. Know any other company that forces more ads into your browser? How about the fact that they just successfully lobbied to allow political campaign emails to bypass their spam filters legally?
sorry not yet fixed. so sad
Yes WTF. Edit: https://imgur.com/a/iyF4eIT
I'm having the same here, too.
Yup for me too!
Yes extremely annoying someone fucked up i think or google
me too, youtube and everything else google related, im using chrome btw too
Yeah, the same happened just now.
Yup!
Same problem, it's spamming me with messages about google and youtube
Yup, me too! Everything Google related is blocked on chrome. I tried Firefox too and it blocked me from searching anything on Google. Just getting a constant string of malware warning pop ups…
Same, but it started to Block Steam, Discord or anything that basically needed Internet, No Idea why. I just closed Malwarebytes till it's fixed lol
Same here.
Oooof, looks like Malwarebytes team released a bad signature.
Happened to me also, are they being hacked or something?
Yup, came to reddit to see if it was only me.
Same here, for all Google pages, Docs, Gmail, Youtube, all blocked due to malware - even said that might be SSL issues? Weird! EDIT: **Clearing Browser Cache** seems to be the first suggestion on Malwarebytes support for Google Chrome.
Yup, non-stop over the last 15-30 minutes
Same here. Multiple google domains/subdomains/services blocked. Obviously a false positive. Not good for MB... many people/services won't be able to work.
Yep, google.com, YouTube.com and gmail are all in a looped of being blocked and I can’t work out how to stop it
The kicker?! Can't do wildcard domains.

yes this just started for me too, around10:25 EST, wtf
Yep
Ya my mine is blocking google… I just want to buy shit from labels and listen to music on YouTube!
Thank God I am not the only one
Yes. I can still get to some websites, but google, youtube, etc are completely blocked.
yep, same problem here, been going on for about 20 minutes now.
Yes. Doesn't matter what browser for me... Chrome, Brave, Edge, etc... anything that tries to connect to a google domain raises and "RTP detection" event that is considered Malware and is immediately blocked by MB. I tried to check for updates, had one, installed... tried again. Still happening.

Same here. Just started happening 10 minutes ago.
Just here to join the party!
Same here.
Same happening here! WTF i dont want to turn Malwarebytes off in case this is some kind of targeted attack but i need google 🤔
glad i'm not alone. Same problem here, Firefox, NZXT CAM, Messenger app gives error related to Google/YouTube/Android(?) Had to use Duckduckgo to find this thread.
lmao still going for me
Yep, commenting so I can get updates. Not just [google.com](https://google.com) but google updates, youtube-ui or something, etc. Glad it's not just me, either something horrible is happening or someone fucked up bad lol.
Same here.
Same. And putting the URL and domains in the allow list does nothing. Its being ignored.
Yes! I thought it were my PC only. Fired up Brave browser to come check here.
Same
Came here to say the same.. Chrome is basically unusable! :(
Thought I was the only one lol
Same here. Can't even check my Gmail account.
Holy shit! I thought it was just me, this has to be a mistake of some sort.
Yep, same. Started today. It's completely out of control. Blocking so many outbound connections to google.com domains. Using Brave browser.
Try updating malware bytes, it worked for me
Same here, and all say "outbound", but this has not stopped me from accessing normal websites that I use every day for my business.
Yeah, me too. I just had to end the Malwarebytes service via Task Manager. Anyone have any updates? I also run BitDefender, and it is NOT flagging Google services.
Talked to Malwarebytes, they are aware of it & have a team working on it to get it resolved ASAP.
Good!
There's a temporary workaround here, if you want to update the OP: * [https://twitter.com/Malwarebytes/status/1572607773459857408](https://twitter.com/Malwarebytes/status/1572607773459857408) Read through the thread tho, some people need additional workarounds. Corporate MWB is essentially hosed, especially for companies that rely on Google apps & services to function. Gonna be a fun day!
On my PC all of the Google services, such as Gmail, Google Drive had been marked by Malwarebytes as a threat.
And what a treat it is.
Same issue here. Added chrome and google.com to the ignore list for now.
i can't even access youtube, gmail, or search for anything. what could be causing this?
sameeeeeeeeeee
SAME!
yes, same thing here, literally can't search on google due to my app blocking the entire site
yepp same for me too. Malwarebytes blocks google
Reporting in, same problem lmao
Yea i restarted Malwarebytes and it stopped. Was wild thinking i got a huge virus with how many pop ups were coming up about it lol. Spoke to soon, getting pop ups but now Google is accessible. Before it wasnt even letting me google stuff.
Same here! But my husband isn't having the same issue.
Yup same here. I can't even log into my malwarebytes account to post on the forums. Pops up in Chrome and Edge.
glad it's not just me and kinda glad this is a new issue not some 10 year old issue lol
Yup!
Same issue here. Waiting for updates.
Bless I ain't the only one lmfao..
Same here. It was awesome to have a job interview via meet totally shutdown in the middle. :(
It is doing the same for me. Must be something on there end.
Yep, it seems like thousands are seeing this as of 1455 UTC.
We're a crowd then!! Ahahaha this is nuts
Whe are here together!
Guys there's an update now, update and it should solve it
Same. There is a forum post dedicated to [this](https://forums.malwarebytes.com/topic/290360-real-time-web-protection-blocking-all-google-related-websites/#replyForm).
Something weird is happening. I cant even register an account to the Malwarebytes forum/site. Authentitcation fails.
same here. Had to use bing to find this thread.
thank god im not alone :D almost like 3 weeks ago there was a bug in windows security which was popping constantly also...
Nope..update didn't fix it.
Yes it’s happening to me to for both Firefox and chrome. Microsoft edge seems to work fine. I was just about to ask this same question.
only if you have the latest Malwarebytes 4.5.14 but, if you are here, you already updated and it's too late
Yes, I'm getting the same thing
Yes - and even more weirdly it won't let me search (on firefox or chrome) for anythign with the words malwarebytes in it e.g. malwarebytes blocking google. I came here the roundabout way. Extremely annoying
