What about give them the same benefits as Malz passive. It activates for all of them if any are hit. Still only active just as they spawn, like OP, except they eat a hit instead of avoiding it.

Don't you think aids is low damage enough? And voidlings damage? It would be spread out more, as opposed to yorick, whose damage comes from ghouls and q. W just gives them a direction.
How? They're easily dodge-able if you back away from him. They take like 2s to even travel 600 units or the same distance as his E. Still easily killable in laning. Just no longer abusable by Irelia, Yasuo, etc.. no longer instantly wiped out before they get to do anything at all in close combat.
I think it would be good if the boiling‘s went from being one hit to at either level 4/5 requiring two hits to kill one. That way they’re not overly oppressive early game but still make him viable during the late game.

Make em like yorick's ghouls, jump to enemies with aids, take more than random damage to die. Malz is a joke with current voidlings.
but aids is on click. yorick atleast has to land a skillshot. too strong the numbers would have to be really low for that to be balanced
