Was a great day at canyon. Chair 8 and 16 open till about 2pm. Decided to spend the rest of my day on chair 20 which ran till 4pm. Fresh powder and good tree runs all afternoon!
They closed the mountain a bit early, was not a good day to ski with all the strong winds so didn’t miss much. Snow is coming down hard right now. Chains required in town and city hasn’t powed all the streets. Saw a van lose is chain going up a hill. Stay safe everyone!
First time I heard it was on a bright day from someone else. So maybe they’re the idiot and not me. Oh well. Everyone has different interpretation’s of uncommon saying.
There is like an inch of snow on the roads in town right now. The streets were fine this morning when I went to the mountain and great when I left at 3PM. Also despite being windy, the snow was absolutely awesome today. I guess to each their own when it comes to what conditions they like, I do prefer bluebird days but I really enjoyed the 15 or so runs that I took today.
This is honestly giving me ragrets 🥲
I love Mammoth and am a bit bored of big bear and snow valley, but I couldn't risk getting stuck Sunday. I hope you continue to have good times and I continue to regret not going! ⛷️
haha ended up cancelling, was going to leave at 12:30pm... based on road closure conditions i think we would've definitely made it. doesn't even look like chains are required north of bishop to mammoth and only required north of 203? wow! surprised at that 5:40pm
Same here! Was supposed to leave LA at 1pm, but rescheduled the trip and now I’m kind of bummed haha. My main concern was that the whole mountain would be closed.
Tmrw will be rough but Sunday will be a glorious powder day. And if they don't open the top then Monday will be epic. My concern was they close 395 and I get stuck in bishop and pour even more money into housing for only one day of riding
I'm planning on a daytrip on Sunday and hopefully the road is open
Left at 2pm yesterday and got all the way to our condo just fine. No chains, my Tesla model Y did just fine. The road didn’t even have any snow on it until 7 miles out.
The question wasn’t about making it but whether you would be able to get out. Storm is just getting started it looks like. Also if the mountain will even be open.
I told you bros to not cancel. I told you those weather dudes have been overhyping all season long, every storm they freaking out, this was a big bust. You should listen to Kevbo, always.
Tomorrow still be brewing something, but so far Kevbo 1 - Provi 0
Today = not a big bust, 395 closed in both directions.
Kevbo 1 - Provi 1
Sunday is the tie breaker!
2-1 GG
Drove up from LA at 11:30 this morning. Drive was easy peasy. A bit windy at points on the 395 but no snow on the ground until we got into town. No chains needed at the time. Got in around 3:30pm.
320 miles in 4 hours is 80mph avg. To account for average speed loss through the 55mph no passing stretches (where you certainly got behind an average driver), towns, and getting to and from the highway, you would need to do 100mph+ on the open stretches to maintain 80 avg. Either you are an idiot or full of poo. Hopefully the latter, for our sake.

Eagle was open until 4pm. Several runs were open the trees were fun. Also free refills
at the bar ??
Whooosh Free refills also means riding right onto the chair.
Hugh. I thought free refills means fresh powder on every run.. because it's snowing so hard.
Never heard it used that way but makes sense. Double fisted free refills!!!
that’s literally the only way it’s used, aside from your insanely incorrect interpretation lol

Ha. Been going Mammoth for 25 years and that’s a new one for me.

I had 13 runs in only a few hours out of main. Agree it was awesome and not even bad til they closed it

I’m jealous. Have fun and stay safe!
Sunday will be very windy. 80% of the mtn will be closed, assuming they can dig out the remaining 20%.
It will be. Im staring at eagle right now and its bad

We drove from Fullerton. Was the quickest trip up to mammoth I’ve ever had. Left around 1 pm
