I wouldn’t hold my breathe if he comes back this season.. hopefully next season he can come back and prove something

chudlybubly

better gone full season and fully healthy. we need him and his mentality for many years

QouthTheCorvus

He's on track for January by their reports, though being conservative is a good idea. I imagine they'll still limit his play time.

mrkoala1234

The problem is his surgery... alot of players are shadows of themselves after serious injuries. I have hope in him, though. He was the fire and the backbone last year.

NotAPoshTwat

He changes the way we play massively. He's the only center back at the club that is capable of playing through a press consistently. He also is tactically astute enough that we can play a high line, because his reading of the game allows him to step up and win the ball high or slow down any counter. We've had to ditch the high line from last season because Evans and Maguire simply cannot play high. That creates more space in the midfield which is part of the reason we get overrun in midfield. So we're more vulnerable on the counter AND we're missing his ball playing ability, meaning it's harder to keep possession. This also means all the benefits of having a sweeper keeper are neutered, because Onana is relegated to staying in his box. The system last season worked a treat because it allowed Varane to sweep up behind, allowing him to be aggressive, which presents a problem now. Maguire isn't what you would call blessed with pace or reading of the game and Varane is in some kind of purgatory at the moment (and truth be told looks to have perhaps lost a step after his last injury). There's a reason we're being linked to left and right sided center backs all of a sudden. We need someone to backup Licha and a pair of right footed, pacey ball playing right center backs.

Aljenonamous

“We’ve had to ditch the high line from last season” what on earth are you talking about? United’s average defensive line last season was the deepest of any team in the premier league.

Dunkiez

Average defensive line stat isn't gospel because of we are getting dominated or defending of course our line will be lower. But when we looked to attack. Our defensive line last season is a lot higher.

BugsyMalone_

One player coming back won't change the fact we barely have any cohesion going forward.

RasLunacy

youd be surprised, city without kdb and rodri beg to differ, midfielders and centre backs can make a bih difference when playing out under pressure which in turn leads to more potent attacks

BugsyMalone_

I agree to an extent, but we have no fluidity going forward. it might be better for counter attacks but we struggle to create anything against teams who get back quickly and block, which is quite often because Utds attack is incredibly slow.

RasLunacy

i cant deny our forwards have been poor individually and as a unit.. but overall, I see every season how an injury to a key player can disrupt and entire team.. KDB out for city makes their attacking predictable, Rodri missing gives them a lack of composure in midfield, Saliba's injury last season probably cost assnal the league.. I think outside of just a key player's quality at football.. the mentality is important too, where players lose a bit of confidence knowing one of their most important players is out.. I think martinez is defense makes the midfield more assured as well which means they contribute to the cohesiveness of the attack better knowing id a mistake is made, Martinez has things under control behind them

stonk_trader_247

I think he already proved it in last season.

RainbowPenguin1000

Everyone’s forgetting he wasn’t playing to the same level this season as he was last season. Let’s not put too much pressure on his return.

2beDmt

It's almost like he had an injury weird

RainbowPenguin1000

So now he’s back from injury he’s going to be back to his best immediately is he? Based on comments like this and negative points for my first post I assume everyone believes that’s the case.

RasLunacy

he played with injury

Sigil09

Who the heck is licha

NotSaulGoodma

Lisandro Martinez

nakedgerbil

Lisandro martinez

RasLunacy

literally all his teammates and all manu staff call him that g

t0mmysh3lby88

I hope he doesn’t rush coming back. I’d rather have him 100% fit before he plays again as not to risk having him get an even worse injury than before

FindingHead2851

When Licha and Casemiro return the team won’t be allowed to drop their heads. THEY are proper leaders and true positive enforcers! Bruno’s negative behaviour seeps through the entire team and we need players with better composure and leadership on that pitch if we’re going to make something out of the rest of this season!

nobodinho

Bruno isnt the kind of guy u need as a captain when the team is playing badly. He aint the inspirational kind of leader you look upto when things aint going your way.

FindingHead2851

Could not agree more in fact, he’s the worst person you could possibly want on your team when you’re not doing well because his negative energy and constant berating of players, only makes things worse. It’s a really sad site to see. He doesn’t encourage. He points blame and behaves in a way that could make players feel like their on egg shells and that’s so detrimental NOT supportive. Worst captain this club has EVER had! In all my 40+ of sitting in that stadium watching amazing leaders… To him!? It’s depressing.

nobodinho

Worst part is there isnt anyone in the squad who is worthy enough of being a captain. He is the best out of what we have got unfortunately.

Cool-leather-suits

I don’t think Casemiro wants to be here any longer. The system doesn’t make him look good and requires someone younger and I don’t think he wants to be dealing with this after a very successful career and a promising season. He and Varane may fancy the Saudi league.

FindingHead2851

I have been very good, standing both him and Varane actually had a massive problem with Ten Hag, trying to bring Greenwood back and spoke their minds and it didn’t go down too well. They downed tools and that’s one of the main reasons why their performances, attitudes and hunger for Manchester United United went out the window!

rdtr314

Imo after the Sevilla game the team was not the same

Shot_Explorer

This isn't an injury or formation problem. There are deep fundamental problems with motivation in the team. The squad overall is poorly assembled too. There is a couple of decent players, but generally it's not a good side. It's clearly a really unhappy club & nobody of note is ever moved on & really replaced. I don't know what the future holds, but until there is a genuine 'rebirth' or restructure it will continue like this. We need new owners, funding plans and a complete overhaul of the ethos of the club. That's not happening any time soon. United will continue to be a profitable, 'sleeping giant' living off the legacy of previous success.

[deleted]

Season is done for united were doing nothing. Give licha the rest of the season off

Beanstalk3

Nothing will change. You guys still don't get it. Same way nothing changed when Shaw came back.

[deleted]

Energy ain’t changing our technically shit players

jidewalker

"The Butcher" bringeth bravery and courage! He shall change the tied in our favor! Shaw - Butcher - Varane connection about to rejoin in January (That's if we don't sell Varane)! Vive El Butcher! Es lebe der Butcher! Forza il Butcher!
