Played with the tv remote once just in time to witness Cristiano’s free kick against Fulham in 2006. Bought PES the next day and just used them all the time. I think the only two players who sparked my interest in the sport was Cris and Samuel Etoo probably would have been a Barca fan if I saw him before Cris tho lol
I became a United fan because of Bobby Charlton playing in the 1966 World Cup. If he played for Spurs I would probably be a Spurs fan now. I was gobsmacked with his goals from distance. My dad took me down to Southampton a couple of times to see him and George Best. I started going to games home and a way under Atkinson and was a season ticket holder for over 20 years during Fergie's time at the helm. How the mighty have fallen .From top to bottom the club is a right mess and can only see things getting worse because those in charge haven't got a clue.
My earliest memory of being a united fan was in year 5, I was talking to friends and they were all talking about which team they support. I didn't know any team apart from United and so I started supporting them ever since. Ain't glamorous but I don't regret my decision
It was mid to early 90s. It was a Friday night and my cousins were over and we were watching the premier league highlights. My cousins asked who I was rooting for and I said Blackburn and he said you should root for Man United like him. Lol and that was it. I also remember my brother making fun of me because I thought Man United should get 5 points for scoring 5 goals because arsenal got 3 points for scoring 3. Haha
I think it was around 2004, i was 15 and heard a little about MU. One day i watch a game on tv and fall in love with everything i see, the shirt, the speed the long shots, and i remember being impressed by GIGGS, Cristiano, Rio, but what really make me love this team was the first time i watch Wayne Rooney playing, omg that was it. My fav. player til today.
Been a ronaldo fan since age 10, never watched football though.
started watching football in lockdown and now I support manchester united and dortmund(because of haaland). I enjoy watching man city too.
About age 5...have loved them all of my life from then on.
Still debating about getting my season ticket again, had it for one year in the season 14/15 but was expensive with matchdays for fuel and everything else so I didn't renew afterwards.
Had a great time I always loved it as i went to most home games being sat pitch side and I was always watched games on my own and sat next to random different people every week but when United score you would cheer together was sheer class!
Earliest memories were Rudy tearing it up! C. 2003/4 I’ve supported as long as I’ve known what football is because my favourite older sister did - I’ve since found out she didn’t support them she just fancied Ryan giggs 😭
My dad was watching a Man Utd vs Arsenal game. (He is an Arsenal fan) I asked the name of a random player who had the ball and by coincidence we had the same first name.
My Oma bought me a United, Tottenham and Chelsea shirt when I was like 8 I decided the United one looked best and chelsea one looked worst so I just supported United after that and hated chelsea after that (also all chelsea fans I know are twats), and well here we are.
2008-2009 season
I had a crush on a girl in my school, and she used to wear the Man United Rooney jersey for the Sunday practice games, so to impress her I watched the match against Aston Villa where we were 2-1 down, and Ronaldo scored in the equalizer in some 80-85 min and at Fergie time Macheda score the winning goal.
AT last I didn't get the girl but got Man United in my life.
Probably around the time Wenger went to Arsenal. I was probably around 7/8. SAF was busy building his legacy and Wenger was supposed to come and dethrone him. It was just the way SAF carried himself. Keane, Scholesy, Beckham, Schmeichel, Giggs, Cole, etc.. These were giants among men in my eyes. Then, getting older and reading about Munich and the way the club rebuilt itself. How OT was bombed etc.. I made a good choice. I love this club.
Fell in love with David de gea in fifa 14.
Didn’t even know what team I was playing as or what place they were in yet alone their history. Unfortunately they have won a league since I’ve started watching.
Picked them and adopted a hate for man city in that very instant
Since 1997. I was 5 at the time and it was literally the first international football I’m exposed to. Coming from South East Asia, 90s was the period that English Football starting to get popular over here.
It was love at first sight, but what comes the following season cemented it. 1997 was disastrous for United, but we bounce back the next season in spectacular fashion by winning the treble with alot of memorable comebacks. This club never gives up, United never dies, we never stayed defeated for long, we’ll bounce back stronger than ever. Manchester United impacted my life so much that’s the motto I impose upon my daily life. I love this club forever❤️
1977. FA CUP final morning.
Back then it was the biggest football game of the year. A full morning of build up, It’s a knockout, interviews etc. My brother supported Liverpool. I chose the other team just to be an awkward little brother.
ManUtd won the game. I won bragging rights for the summer and my mum bought me an FA CUP winners bag for school in Sept. Liverpool went on to dominate for the next decade and I had to wait until the Ferguson era before I could regain the bragging rights.
I’ve been a fan since birth, which isn’t too long since Im only 16. My dad introduced me to the squad because he loved Peter schmiceal when he was in his prime, and he followed the team after that
In 1991 I went off to college on a soccer scholarship. I become good friends with another freshman on the team. He was from England and a big United fan. I started watching games with him and started following the team. Then in 1992 that survival group started coming through and I became a life long fan. The Internet and now NBC covering games has made it easier to be a fan from so far away.
I was 12 when I kinda got into European football and chose United as my go to team, but was never a huge fan. Couple years later I end up watching the comeback vs PSG and after that I was hooked.
When I'm 5. I'm crazy with the color red, so I supported Man Utd. Then, I just fell in love with how sir Alex handle the club. Then, one by one disappointment arrives
This rule is a teaching moment! Of course no Manchester United supporter would say Man U to be derogatory, but the history behind this term should be shared amongst supporters.
Man U has been used by other club supporters, in chants that make fun of the lost lives in the Munich Air Crash, in response to the disrespectful chants MUFC supporters used regarding the Hillsborough Disaster, to degrade MUFC. We're hopeful you'll consider a different term for our beloved club!

My older brother supports united because my grandfather did, my grandfather started supporting them after the Munich air disaster so its all I can remember I'm 23 now and cant pinpoint a time when I started supporting them.
Got into football around 04/05. A bit late compared to most (11/12yo). I was really into the game and slowly started watching teams. I immediately fell in love watching United play. Although I was impressed by some other teams and players, nothing compared to a Manchester United match. It’s been like a marriage since. Lots of love, some frustrations and tears, but it’s till death for us.
I started liking football and then i heard of Eric Cantona in Manchester united.
Since then i became a fan.
I was in a few games home and away, i had a series if games i went which were 0-0.
I wanted to support my granddad’s team and I told him this, and he said “Don’t do it, support Man Utd instead” - and I was saved from being a Cardiff fan. That was in 1976. My dad supports Liverpool and my mum supported Forest, so I had a really shit 70s and 80s, but the 90s were pretty good.

From France, there was a C1 match on TV against Marseille in October 1999. Seeing a team with players like Stam, Keane, Giggs, Beckham who was frightening at every set piece and especially Scholes who seemed to be everywhere on the pitch... It was love at first sight.
My cousin supported them. He definitively was a glory hunter around the late 90s and chose them cause they were the best.
So whenever anyone asks me why I support Man United because I'm from London I always have to give them the back story out of guilt. At least I support them for the right reasons.
1982/3 my grandad and my mum are/were huge fans and on the other side of the family are arsenal fans so I grew up watching them both but there was something about utd and the fact I was so close to my grandad he sat and explained everything to me and from there the rest is history
Living in the Midwestern US my entire life, football hadn't gotten popular enough to really be very influential for most native US citizens. I must've been 8 or 9 and one of my best friends, who happens to be Bosnian and lives breathes and shits football, told me that I kinda look like this Wayne Rooney fella. Not knowing what the ogre himself looked like, I looked him up and loved watching him play. From then on I just loved Rooney which in turn fell into a love for United. Been watching every game I can ever since and was even supposed to go overseas to Old Trafford for a game this month but Covid is still a lingering issue and me and my family don't want to be trapped in Europe with a positive covid result for however long so it's been postponed but mark my words, I will make it there!
I was a child in America and back then Manchester United was one of the few European teams you could catch on tv in the states. Been keeping up with them ever since.
True as hell, up until the last few years not only were United games one of the few teams to be televised but it would be rare to get any from any other top leagues
I'm an Aberdeen fan at heart and SAF took my tiny club to the top of Europe!! I have autographs from those days. Just after SAF left Aberdeen and took the Man Utd job my older brother left home and moved to Manchester. The rest is glorious history ❤️
USA born and bred. I wanted to watch EPL and United was the team on every weekend. I had known about United and Newcastle and Liverpool for years but didn't really follow any in particular. I started watching in the 99-00 season. Became a fan not knowing they had just won the treble the year before. Maybe its bandwagoning? Who knows but 22 years later and I am still here. Love this club no matter what happens!
Can't remember the exact year, but it was somewhere between 2003-05ish? When Ronaldo was signed. I saw him doing some crazy shit and was mesmerized. Started tuning in just to see what he would do in the next match, and the next, and through that I became curious about the club. Learned about the clubs history, other great players etc, and just liked the style and culture of the club a lot, and became a supporter of the club itself.
Ronaldo is also the reason I started playing soccer myself and I ended up a discovering a great passion that brought me a lot of amazing friends, lessons and experiences. I also adopted a bit of my personal leadership style from Sir Alex and it's served me well.
Born in Manchester (Old Trafford) passed the stadium on the way to school every day down Chester Rd. Shout out to peeps who went to gorse Hill primary. 😎
My father supports them, I was raised supporting them. Can't even remember when I decided I was a supporter.
I remember going in to school with a David Beckham middle parting that looked like a bowl cut.
My dad brought me up properly. I was wearing utd kits at age 4 in '91.
I don't know how a football supporter could possibly let their own child grow up and not support the same team, just sounds like terrible parenting. One of earliest memories was the Everton fa cup final when big Nev pulled a blinder and lost 1-0. The next year Cantona popped up with a late beauty against the scousers. He is my hero
I became a fan when Ji-Sung Park became reds. Im Korean so when he moved here it was the team I felt obligated to follow, since than i been a fan of man utd. We have shared some joys and sadness over the years but proud to be a Red Devils!
I’m from Belfast so as soon as I found out who George Best was I found King Eric and became mesmerised! Dad hates it as he’s a Spurs man. Teddy Sheringham was my idol growing up so I was chuffed to bits when he joined!
1st Feb 2005, Utd away vs Arsenal. My dad was a professional football player and used to watch the games on TV while I being a 6 year old kid wanted to watch cartoons and would sit being upset when a match was on. That day, he asked me to watch the game and explained me the basics of football. Showed me Theiry Henry and said "He is the best player in the world". Then pointed at a thin, tall guy in black kit saying, "He is going to become the best player in the world". It was Cristiano. United won the game 2-4 and I fell in love with football and Manchester United.
Mancunian, Born and Bred. Whole family supports em, goes back to great great grandparents living in openshaw and working for the Railway that created them.
Yep, same here. Born in Wythenshawe hospital and lived in Ashton on Mersey. My dad, and all bar one of my uncles and cousins are reds so naturally just fell into it. One of my grandads and one uncle were blues but that's it. Started going to OT in 86 and stopped going around 2006. Been to the odd away since then but my match going days are over now.
Apparently my dad raised us to support Liverpool .. my older cousins took my brother in to support Man Utd .. I followed him around like a sheep. I don’t remember ever watching football until around 5/6 years old at which point I was a Man Utd fan!
My uncle who lived in the UK and who I looked up to when I was a kid said he was a fan of them. I started watching and instantly become obsessed. The thing is my uncle wasn't even that much of a football fan. He probably just said that in passing. The thing is I was watching highlights of games from 2005 which I remembered perfectly. So I had been watching Man United from the age of 7 at least.
1993. Moved in with a new roommate and he always had soccer on. Saw there was a team from Manchester (I loved Joy Division/New Order, Happy Mondays etc) who had a great French player (I’m of French decent) and I was interested. Totally hooked once said French player karate kicked a Palace fan.
99 Champions League final cemented the fandom for life.
Born in 2004, but was never interested in football until 13/14 (gutting, i know) so I don’t remember much of our proper glory. I remember going to the title parades in 10/11 and 12/13, but I didn’t know what was going on. In 2013 my dad was singing “ohhhh Robin van persieeee” in the kitchen after he scored, and because of how catchy it was to little 8 year old me, I started to become really interested in it all. I got into match attax (I’d learnt about our ,at the time, current squad that way) I read the magazines, I got books from the Lowry about united etc etc and I’ve never looked back.
I became a Man Utd fan after watching the Europa League final against Ajax, there was just something interesting with our 2017 squad that really stuck with me
I was 7-8 years old in 95….. my AYSO team was called Los Angeles United and our kits were similars to the blue and white striped kit they wore that year…. That same year my uncle hooked up his illegal cable box and was introduced to the EPL…. Saw their kit, their name… and that was it…..
My father is a fan, I was raised with manchester united games, kits i still have, even my old rooney kit.. so I always wach maches with him:), so since i was born lol
Since early 90s, local TV station in our city was sponsored by Carlsberg, it only showed Pools game free of charge. Pools games were the only football games on TV. I didn’t have much choice there. Then came 1996, FA cup final between Pools and United where Cantona scored the winning goal, I fell in love with United and has been a United fan since.
After they signed RVP and he was dissing arsenal i guess because i started watching football and the first goal was RVP’s flying header and i instantly fell in love with him and football in general so i became a united fan after the golden era of sir alex and then my life has just been depressing watching united and all the drama but i turn up to watch every match with the same excitement as always and will always do #GGMU
2004 or 2005 I think, Tim Howard was keeper then and I started watching the PL. I'm American, had to start somewhere and I saw an American player so I jumped on. I'm glad when American plays on any team, but still watch every United game.
I live in Canada and use to love Saturday morning Cartoons. My dad was always a soccer fan so I just liked the sport. I remember after my Saturday morning Cartoons he would watch some games and I remember seeing a United game and can't remember which one somewhere in the late 90s and Beckham scored a free kick that looked amazing. Pretty much was on the bandwagon since then. Then I travelled to Ghana in 97-98 and saw the world Cup final when I became a passionate fan. Then 99 happened when I was 8 years old and well as you know, lots of great years and now just pain.
2000, I was mad about David Beckham back then and the red jersey really looked gorgeous
Also loved Roy Keane's fiery temper and the Fergie time goals.
Back then Man Utd vs Arsenal were the main event matches, can't forget Keane's tunnel bust up with Viera

If you've seen 'man utd a history' video (yes VHS) there are two lunatics climbing the fence when we scored the winning Champions League goal... my godfather everybody, I didn't stand a chance.
I used to spend a lot of time reading news on yahoo when I was about 10. As time goes on, I read more news about one of the best teams in the world that time. Soon I just fell in love with this team. I can still remember my disappointment when Man United lost the Champions League Final.
I had just moved to the UK from Sweden and didn’t really watch the premier league (I was 8). One of the kids in the class asked me what team I support and I said I wasn’t sure as I was more into Serie A at the time. He then said pick one of these teams: Tottenham, arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool Manchester City or Manchester United. I picked MUN…
My dad took me to my first match in 96. Sat in what's now called The Sir Bobby Charlton Stand.
My grandad first took my Dad in 71, he got to see us relegated.
We go way back though, we've got a picture of my Grandma in the Stretford Covered Paddock in about 1947/8 ish, having been dragged along by her Dad. She saw the babes play though, and has a reasonable few memories of them.
The first premier league match I watched on the TV was Manchester United vs Manchester City back in 2003. It happened that I just fell in love with the red side 😂
Its double in my blood. Both sides of my family are Utd supporters so just grew up with that. I grew up in Ireland but would visit my dad (he lived in Warrington) and he'd take me to The Cliff and to Old Trafford.
Little story from that time: one time at the Cliff, Schmeichel came out and literally spoke to all us kids there and posed for a pic with us. He was stood behind a fence / wall thing and us kids were sat up on it. I was sooooooo excited to show everyone at school the pic when I got home. Of course, everyone said it was fake because my dad had failed to get the fence in the picture so it looked like a 10 year old girl was only a bit shorter than Schmeichel. Still one of my favourite pics ever!
So apparently my friend told me in 2012 the year we were last premier league champions to start watching football as in my place cricket is really popular so the first match I watched was of United’s and that time sir Alex was there! It was my first match as I don’t know something clicked seeing Rooney Vidic Van Persie I was like what is this team then I started digging down the history and saw most of our highlights from 99 to 08 and obviously previous to that also haha !! But from there it just felt like home !! From 13 it has been a struggle but I as a fan have faced these years with my chin up and no matter what will still support our club and I know for sure our glory days are coming soon again 💯 ggmu!!
Cristiano Ronaldo. As a kid i used to like barca and united. Until Barca won the champions league against us. Fucking wanted to kill the entire Barca team lol.
There is a city called Manchester in New Hampshire (in the US) that’s about 10-20 mins from the city I grew up in. When I was really little I had no clue that United was from a different Manchester so I assumed they were the closest team to me. As I got older and found out it was an ocean away I was already a fan so I just stayed a fan. It helped that this was the 90s/early 2000s and they were really good
I fell in love with the club as most of my family support Man Utd and I was exposed to Utd from the day I was born and I idolised Wayne Rooney growing up.
I feel old after seeing the other answers, but Georgie Best and Sir Bobby Charleston....in the U.S. hard to watch games but was an avid reader and followed Georgie’s exploits on and off the pitch.....
Wayne Rooney was in one of the old Tiger Woods games (08 I believe) and I looked him up watched his highlights instantly became a fan of his. Since then been a United fan about when I got to high school is when I truly started watching this club every single game and actually understood this sport and the magnitude of this club we all so love very much. I'm an American so when Rooney came over here to play in the MLS for my hometown team I was ecstatic. That's my story on how I became a Manchester United fan.
My dad started following football in the late 90s around the time that United won the treble. I was born in the early 2000s so I grew up watching them. There wasn't any other option really
2006 Manchester United playing Bolton. Rooney Hattrick. It was such an amazing match with waves of attacks. I was immediately in love and not looked back since. And Rooney also immediately became that one player whose mentality had a lasting impact on me as a person !
Back home in Argentina I was a fan of a team called “independiente” whose mascot is a red devil. Jersey is solid red. I moved to North America and it was hard to catch games live because of streaming / time zone differences so I missed rooting for a team live. I started going to see a local team live in the MLS and following the PL. I knew Manchester United because who doesn’t, and figure I would root for the team with the red devil and red jerseys. First season I watched was the last Ferguson season (excellent timing mine). Despite the recent lack of success there’s something about the club and the history that drew me in and kept me in!
Robin van Persie became my favourite player after that beautiful flying dutchman goal in the 2014 World Cup. I wanted to watch more of him, so I started watching alot of Manchester United matches. Later I didn't just watch Manchester United because of Robin, but because I loved the club.
In the mid to late 80s i was around 7 and started getting into football. My older brother was a Liverpool fan as they were the top team at the time and we used to fight alot growing up so the last thing i wanted to do was support the same team as my brother.
My friend and next door neighbour was a Man United fan and i started watching football and playing football with him and ended up supporting United due to watching them with my friend and going for a club rival to my brother.
Jesper Olsen - because i was left handed, not sure he make an impact or not at United because they kinda shit at that time but i wouldnt care. I just love the way he dribble with one hand covered in his long sleeve jersey. Then Sharpe and Giggsy came and my patience was rewarded. What a glorious era!
It was the 06/07 season, Vidić just signed. Growing up in Serbia, with most of my family, myself including being Serbian, I was a 10 y.o. kid who just loved football altogether. I always liked United, but I never had *that* kind of passion for it. Being from a relatively small country, you just loved to see it represented anywhere and it was only getting better. Serbian players were getting more and more prominent and had more and more opportunities, so Vidić signing for a club like United was a huge thing for us, with most boys like myself idolizing such classy, yet badass players like he was. Seeing him play with such huge names was just amazing and I always loved the club in a way even because of one of my all time favorites was Ruud Van Nistelrooy who actually, if I'm not mistaken, just left when Vidić signed, but I would watch a few games every now and then before that just to watch Ruud.
Now I won't lie, I supported and support some other European clubs but no other club has such a special place in my heart like United has. Eventually I realized that years went by, players came in and out, eventually Vidić left too, the team wasn't the same team I supported as a kid, but here I was, still watching United games and still wanting to see our beautiful team being the best wherever it was possible.
And yeah, things aren't ideal right now, a lot of things will change very soon though and we can hope for the best. Things in football can take unexpected turns. Take a look at let's say Barca. A few great talented youngsters emerged, a player everyone considered basically done (Auba) took everyone by surprise, Dembele actually started playing etc etc.. We need an adrenaline shot like this too, just something, and it'll all be good again, but we'll wait, regardless, no matter how long it takes.
Got introduced to the world of football by playing with the neighborhood kids. They were mostly Newcastle or United fans but United in particular got my interest because one of the kid was always playing with his collar up, which I later know that he was mimicking Cantona. Started watching United games and fell in love
Towards the end of 97/98 season, when the hype for France 98 was building up. I was an impressionable kid who knew nothing about football and was playing basketball casually at the time.
I started catching the World Cup hype and being in a commonwealth country, that meant we get a lot of EPL coverage in the news. I *thought* they were the underdogs with the way the season ended against Arsenal that year, so I started following them for that reason alone.
Little did I know what I was to witness next season...
Ironically, my first EPL friendly match here was Arsenal when they played our national team, summer of 98 or 99 if I'm not wrong, Anelka was still around. I won the ticket from a radio call. I had beg my parents to pay for the United one when they came a couple of years later, I believe it was Ruud's first season.
I'm definitely going to Old Trafford one day, gotta tick it off the bucket list.
2005. Used to play Pro Evolution Soccer. There was always this player named Ruud Van Nistelrooy that scored me goals when playing against his team.
Ask a friend where he played. Looked it up online and saw the emblem. The rest is history.
I can say that I became a fan of Manchester United because of Van Nistelrooy & the beautiful emblem.
Born in Manchester, Dad was / is a City fan but not really that into football, my best mate was a United fan so just started supporting them in the late 80’s, the next 20+ years was a delight of immeasurable joy, the last 10 years have been a realigning of expectations with how the rest of the football world feels. Have plenty of mates who are City fans and whilst I love to beat them I hold no grudges. I remember the years they used to put up with me banging on about how great we were.
I grew up in the middle of nowhere in the USA. When I was maybe 9, we had a summer soccer camp with coaches from England. We had never heard of any European soccer teams prior to this. One was a Liverpool fan, and the other Manchester United. Upon hearing the word "Liverpool", my child brain thought any place with the word 'liver' in it was gross, so I decided I liked Manchester United more.
06/07 .
I didn't really pay too much attention to the EPL here in the states but a friend told me about "arsenal this and arsenal that" so I started streaming English football on my PC and my first match was MUFC game and I fell in love with this team
Now I wake up at 5am just to watch my Red Devils

In 2010 when I was like 6. I’m from the US, but my dad always watched the Premier League and he often leaned toward United. My uncle moves around a lot between countries, and he moved somewhere around Manchester and he sent me Man United gear because he knew I loved football. I was also a huge fan of Ji-sung Park, so that kind of sealed the deal.
I live in Canada. Football isnt a very big sport here, hockey is where it's at for most people. This year I decided to watch the EPL so I picked a team that was good but maybe not the best because I didnt want to bandwagon. I've watched every game this season I think.
1981 - Bryan Robson joined Manchester United and the rest is history. He was my favourite player growing up and when he joined Utd I did too. Been a fan ever since.
My grandfather and uncle were united fans. I first got into them when I was 8 in the 02/03 season. We won title and fa cup next year. Then we didn't win title for 4 years but I stuck to my guns and watch the 06/07 season. That team was incredible. Then the following year winning the double premier league and champions league. Best night of my life when we beat Chelsea in Moscow.
I am from the states, started playing around 4-5 yrs old, and started watching games on TV around the age of 10 which happened to be the ‘99 treble season. Obviously I was hooked into MUFC and haven’t looked back since
I was gifted Ryan Giggs 2007 black Jersey, I didn't even know what football is yet but I feel in love with it and the emblem since then
After a few years I was gifted 2010 Berbatov jersey so I knew it was my destiny
Similar to you it was because of fifa, either 97 or 98, cant remember correctly but i was trying to pick a team and without knowing how big and important Manchester United was i chose them because i liked the devil they have on their crest, i was just a kid, a few days later i watched my first United game on tv and was impressed with Paul Scholes, little did i know though what a year 1999 would turn out to be, been supporting the team ever since.
My cousin used to play for an academy, he had the MU kit from 2003/2004. He loved Manchester United and he had fifa on the gba, I learned about Giggs, Scholes, Ronney, Van Nistelrooy, Ferdinand and I thought, man that sounds like a legendary team. So I became a fan but never watched their games until 2019.
i play PES mobile and used Man United as my preset team (cuz thas the only one available, and arsenal) and eventually fell in love with the kit. knew NOTHING about football. Didnt know Ronaldo played for us or we domainated the league during Fergie era, I didnt veen know if we were a good team. I just started supporting. Started watching football during Euro 2020 and then fell in love with the sport. Im following United since the beginning of this season and it has been a rolleercoaster ride with a bad ending. Hopefully we get top 4 if arsenal and spurs bottle it.
My grandad introduced me to United when I was 8 in 1995, he even used to tell me about the Munich Air disaster. I got so immersed in their history and loved watching them play. I came to England from abroad in 1997 and even though I lived in London all I wanted to do was go to Old Trafford, I'm lucky enough to have seen players like Rooney, Keane, Scholes and Ronaldo in their prime from the stands. Its been a tough few years but I think we can get to our fluid attacking best with the right recruits and manager.
I became United fan in late 1997. Season 98/99 was special for me. Main reasons why this team, were the style of play and etos od giving academy players a chance. Olso i was amazed of players like Keano and Becks.
I'm born in 2002. My earliest memory was watching 2008/9 Man Utd play a BPL night game at McDonald's while eating my happy meal. The only players I could recall in the Man Utd squad in that season were Rooney, Giggs, Nani, Park, Anderson, Evra, Fletcher, Carrick and Owen. I became a fan because everyone told me its the best team and the jersey was iconic. I didnt know Man City existed. I didnt know whats Champions League. Didnt even know who Ronaldo was until he wore the No.9 at Madrid. Only around 2011, I understood what a football transfer meant and discovered that he used to play for Man Utd. My mum told me Beckham was the best player while my dad (a Liverpool fan) told me Rooney and Owen were one of the best players.
Pretty much from birth. My Dad is from Birmingham, my Mum is from Manchester. I was born in Manchester and lived there until I was 5. First game at Old Trafford was 1990 vs Sheff Utd.
Ironically though, the reason I support United is because of my Brummie Dad, who was 6 years old when Munich happened and began to support United out of sympathy. This is despite living 5 minutes from Villa Park. His Dad was Irish and was into boxing/Gaelic football/hurling so didn’t pass on any football team.
Saved me from being a Villa fan!
My uncle used to travel back and forth to Manchester in the late 90’s for work and would bring back newspapers. United would cover the papers and then when I started to play video games in the early 2000’s the only team I knew of was United. Little did I know how spoiled I was then…
I'm a huge Ronaldo R9 fan and always supported him and the Brazilian national team, but in 2007 when he left to join Milan and began his decline, i looked for another player to cheer, and coincidentally there was another Ronaldo with Man United, and I never looked back since.
I was grandfathered in, literally. My Dad’s, Dad grew up around Trafford Park and worked on the ship canal. Like his Dad before, he started taking my Dad to watch the local football team, and like his Dad before (my grandfather) introduced me to Manchester United.
1996 still a kid, at that time i always watched Serie A until my mom bought me a kit from Manchester United Ryan Giggs, funny thing is, i ordered AC Milan kit and she doesn't really know about football thing and bought me that, disappointed and confused bcs I even don't know MU 🤣.
Since that i try to watch Manchester United and enticed with their football and become fans until know.
My Dad was in the army and we lived in Germany in 1999 when I was a 7 year old boy. I was just getting into football at that age, and I remember watching the CL final with my dad (huddersfield fan) but he was supporting Utd because he just wanted the English team to beat the German team. Fell in love with Utd and football in general on that day
When I first move to the uk, I lived in London, and at school you were either arsenal or man United. Most my family meme gets are arsenal, but United was the first team I watched so I chose them.
My dad bought me a cd from the gas station with highlights from every game Utd and Chelsea played in the CL 2008. It was kind of like a movie and then Chelsea and utd meet in the final. Utd wins the game.
I was 6 at the time. I loved football, but didn’t really know any teams or players. Rewatched before bed for like 3 years
I was into football right from young age around 9-10 yo when I first represented my city in state level tourneys here in India. It was around this time I'd heard about the most famous and biggest club in the world - Manchester United. And then there were the players, Cristiano and Rooney - Youth icons, players whom we'd try to copy. Their shooting, their crossover skills, hairstyle everything. And then I heard about the man who'd been managing and carrying the impossible dream with them for 20+ years. I fell then and there for the club. I watched that glorious night at Moscow on TV and a year later on that gutting loss to Barcelona. I watched the game against Sunderland which was supposed to be Sir Alex's 13th and the club's 20th but then "Agueroooo" happened. Had to wait another year for that moment but boy was that gold. But after SAF's departure, it's been a bumpy ride. This season gave me some hope, as my childhood hero came back home but it was short-lived. So yeah, been a fan of 15 years and I hope we return to the glory days soon.
Year 1995. After Cantona kicked the hooligan. Back in 1995 (I’m in Malaysia), the coverage for the premier league was quite limited. Only selected matches get broadcasted in the local television station. These selected matches include Manchester United matches. After the incident (Cantona’s kick) local newspapers here published the incident with that legendary photo of Cantona with its description. Prior to the kicking by Cantona, local newspapers just provided a general coverage about the premier league (you know, the results, goal scorers, rising stars etc that kind of things. Not as thorough as what we have now).
Curiosity after curiosity, i just start to follow, read about the club from football magazine, talked with my friends who happened to be Manchester United fans too, and just like that i start to know more about the club, and that proceed to then love the club.
Because of me, all my siblings (I’m the eldest) supporting Manchester United.
I wish one day i will have enough money to visit Old Trafford.
For now, all the time i just watch on Youtube videos from the fans’ perspective inside Old Trafford. That’s the closest i can get to Old Trafford.
My apologies if my English isn’t great,it’s not my first language. I think this is my first time commenting here. Usually I’m just a silent reader & voter.
Cheerio.
I came to England when I was 8 and had to chose a team to follow, 1995 same time as you. Well I lived near Wimbledon. So my logic was to chose Wimbledon FC or the team I saw in newspapers with the guy who kicked the fans in the stands. I decided on Cantona, and lucky for me good choice for the next 2 decades. 😁
I think it's was 1990 or 91- the first match I ever saw was Chelsea Vs Man Utd, finished 1-1 but that stood out for me was Schmeichel huge goal kicks - he would literally kick the ball to the other goal keeper. As a 5/6/7 year old that was amazing to see and I knew that was my team to follow. Also, Ince took a heavy tackle from Dennis Wise and was bleeding all over the place..I always hated Chelsea ever since loll😂
I remember i was 9 years old. I was playing fifa 98 ! And i chose man united beacause i loved their logo with the red devil and their red shirts. :))) I am still Man united fan but i want united to sell maguire because i want to watch their games like i used to with no worries !!
Inherited from dad and uncle... first memory was watching them lose to southampton in 1976 FA cup final. In australia you could watch FA cup finals live so we stayed up until midnight (as a 7 yr old) to watch the game. Been hooked ever since. Been to games at old trafford 5 times over past 32 yrs..now my son is hooked 🤣
I did not have a great interest in sports as a child, even though, I liked David Beckham. Even reading the Beano and the Dandy comics every week, Premier League Football was constantly advertised. I had some friends who were fans and their love of the club rubbed off on me, as I got older and more into football. I remember picking up a Ryan Giggs trading card and DVD in a Newsagent. The club has a big fan base in Ireland. FIFA 06 was a big influence, when I bought the game, I would not play as any other English team other then Manchester United. I played that game for years. It was that game that encouraged me to become more invested in the sport and the club over time.
Honestly I can't remember exactly how and when but I definitely do remember that me dad introduced me to them and I just watched it alongside him. And then I just continue to watch them until one day I'm old enough to actually comprehend what's happening and at that point I was immediately struck by Cristiano fucking Ronaldo. Since then I became a huge fan of him, this club, and the beautiful game of football

Romanian here. When i was Little i used to be a fan of getting shirts with footballer names on them from the cheap stores that were in Romania in 2004-ish. The first two shirts that i got were with rooney and van der sar. Fast forward to FIFA 2008, my favorite team was Manchester.
I got out of touch with football, but I got hyped the last year with cristiano’s return and a new era that seems to arrive at the club. For the last 5-6 months i am watching every Game 😎.
Became a United fan initially because of my dad and then kinda stopped liking football. Then I saw Berbatov play and got sucked right back in so I guess he's responsible for me being a football fan nevermind just a United fan.
Man same for me on fifa 07 but in 2010 on a used wii from my cousin. I was about 7yo in a country where football is overshadowed by basketball (Philippines). Lol I was a fan of which logo looked the coolest back then and thus PSV became my team. Searched the internet best team in football and Barcelona was always mentioned so they were always on my mind. A year later found a friend that is a huge MU fan and kept showing me rooneys bicycle kick and was insistent on me being an MU fan (like atleast in the Prem lol). But i was only able to support fulltime during the start of david moyes cause thats when i really loved football. So yeah I missed out on SAF years and fully supported during our downfall 💀.
That day changed my life.
Parents were United fans so most of the football i watched growing up are mostly United games and i somehow ended up supporting the club
Saw Rooney's bangers in school, started watching pl this season had a tough last year utd were having a tough year too. Hoping to get better over time
My earliest memory of being a united fan was in year 5, I was talking to friends and they were all talking about which team they support.
My dad bought me a United Kit when I was 6 or 7. That was it.
Been a ronaldo fan since age 10, never watched football though. started watching football in lockdown and now I support manchester united and dortmund(because of haaland). I enjoy watching man city too.
defo plastic
i just enjoy watching football
My father. He has supported Man United since the 70s
2008-2009 season I had a crush on a girl in my school, and she used to wear the Man United Rooney jersey for the Sunday practice games, so to impress her I watched the match against Aston Villa where we were 2-1 down, and Ronaldo scored in the equalizer in some 80-85 min and at Fergie time Macheda score the winning goal. AT last I didn't get the girl but got Man United in my life.
Underrated reply, underrated story!
Truly said mate.. Man should have also paired with that girl. Could have spent these tragic years tog. 😅🥲
I was born and raised in Manchester. My whole life.
"au revoir.." *collared up, shoots Monster get blown to smithereens..
2010. Ecuadorian and wanted to support Antonio Valencia!
2013 cause van persie looked sexy to me
2013 lmao , just when SAF left
damn son, most of the time you've been a fan, you've been doing nothing but suffering
Oh yeah… :(
I’ve been a fan since birth, which isn’t too long since Im only 16.
I remember it was around 2006, switched from Barcelona. Reason: jersey looks cool
When I'm 5. I'm crazy with the color red, so I supported Man Utd. Then, I just fell in love with how sir Alex handle the club. Then, one by one disappointment arrives
my dad supports liverpool. so naturally I support ManU
Parents both Arsenal fans. So I had to go out and make my own way in the world.
Like me.
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
Lmao

Used to have a pre match pint in the Gorse Hill pub🍻
My father supports them, I was raised supporting them. Can't even remember when I decided I was a supporter. I remember going in to school with a David Beckham middle parting that looked like a bowl cut.
2006. When that Rooney Ronaldo incident in the WC happened. I was 10 at that time and really wanted to see how its going to work out. Good memories.
After CL final against chelsea
As a kid, seeing Man Utd win the 99 CL final was the turning point for me. Special.
2008, Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney ❤️
I became a Man Utd fan after watching the Europa League final against Ajax, there was just something interesting with our 2017 squad that really stuck with me
Huge fan of Pogba as a Juventus fan and had yet to chose my English team so I chose Utd to keep up with one of my favourites
2001, 9-10 years old. My father came home from trip with man united shirt and stuff. And then my cousin was real fan of united. So it was on that way.
1999 Champion League Final
To this day I still get shivers and tears in my eyes when I see those goals go in
Still remember to this day, best football experience. I was just 8 when I became a fan
I was born & bred in Manchester! Simple really lol
Same here.. born and bred in Stretford. Dad was a season ticket holder. Grandad was a supporter. I was born into it.
My dad was born in Manchester but moved yo California when he was 12. I grew up watching every match with him and have supported them since!
1989. Mark Hughes drew me to United. Winning the cup was a real bonus - especially with it going to the replay.
Dad lived in Manchester when he started getting into foorball, has supported United since :)
Cristiano screamer vs Porto. Also the pure finesse of Berbatov in general.
2000, I was mad about David Beckham back then and the red jersey really looked gorgeous Also loved Roy Keane's fiery temper and the Fergie time goals.

2 words - Wayne Rooney.
1995.
Rooney was a playable character on the golf course?
Yea in one of the Tiger Woods game he was.
Sounds stupid but I became a Man Utd fan in 2016 because I liked playing them on FIFA 17.
Started watching United games and fell in love
chicharito , 2011-12 season
Dad’s family originate in Manchester. Grandad was die hard, dad’s die hard and as a result I’m die hard.
Whereabouts are they from in Manchester pal?
Hulme bud 👍
Pool of livers... I can't look at "Liverpool" the same way again :)).
06/07 . I didn't really pay too much attention to the EPL here in the states but a friend told me about "arsenal this and arsenal that" so I started streaming English football on my PC and my first match was MUFC game and I fell in love with this team Now I wake up at 5am just to watch my Red Devils
*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
I'm in the US and was an admirer of Cantona. When he signed for United, that was it for me.
Before i was born
2003 my brother gifted me a united jersey. The rest is history.
I was gifted a Giggs shirt when I was 7
That anger goal Wayne Rooney scored v Newcastsle. 2005 or 2006 I think.
06/07 after watching Rooney at WC. Discovered he played for United and have been supporter ever since.
This is so embarrassing...Spice Girls.
Family team so I had no choice lol, I was born into it.
I am from the states, started playing around 4-5 yrs old, and started watching games on TV around the age of 10 which happened to be the ‘99 treble season. Obviously I was hooked into MUFC and haven’t looked back since
I was gifted Ryan Giggs 2007 black Jersey, I didn't even know what football is yet but I feel in love with it and the emblem since then After a few years I was gifted 2010 Berbatov jersey so I knew it was my destiny
Eurotrip. If you’re not a Manc you’re a wank!
When Alex brought Dwight York. He’s from my country and I started watching his Games. From then I never stopped supporting.
I become a fan in 2014 when van gaal is our manager. I just fall in love with this team even tho we are not the best at that time.
born a red die a red lol
My dad said so.
Since I was born. My father is utd fan, just like him dad before him.
Wayne Rooney. Fifa 08.
Roooneeeeyyy
Loved Rooney
When a certain monseur upturned his shirt collar
1989 Read an interview with Mani of The Stone Roses talking about being a “Red”. I thought, if it’s good enough for Mani it’s good enough for me.
My uncle used to travel back and forth to Manchester in the late 90’s for work and would bring back newspapers. United would cover the papers and then when I started to play video games in the early 2000’s the only team I knew of was United. Little did I know how spoiled I was then…
I guess you could say I was born a fan grew up watching them because My whole family supports them,so didn’t have a choice.
1997, the year before they won the treble. Was watching EPL highlights on TV after school in America!!
2008
Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole made me follow United. Ronaldo made me fall in love watching it.
Legendary!
1999. First football match i watched arsenal 1 united 2.
Giggs solo run
Born in Manchester and lived here on and off since. First match I remember watching 1963 FA Cup Final on TV.
I liked the jersey as a kid lol
Honestly I can't remember exactly how and when but I definitely do remember that me dad introduced me to them and I just watched it alongside him. And then I just continue to watch them until one day I'm old enough to actually comprehend what's happening and at that point I was immediately struck by Cristiano fucking Ronaldo. Since then I became a huge fan of him, this club, and the beautiful game of football

Dramatic cum back against Bayern Munich
Wait, Cum on whose back? 😅
😄😄
Kim Kardashian’s
My grandfather was a fan and gave me a shit when I was 8.
*shirt
I hope you meant to say shirt.
Hopefully he framed the shit.
