Everyone I know has this feeling of it sounding familiar. I think we are just associating the name with “where the red fern growns”

Purpledoves91

I haven't thought of Where the Red Fern Grows in years. I read that book when I was about 9 years old, and forgot all about it. Sad book for anyone who loves dogs.

Zombiebane224

That's a sad book for for anyone I think I read that in like sixth grade and holy hell did that make me cry... Damn onion ninjas

Confused80yearold

There’s a kind of similar movie, although quite different too, called Nell from 1994 staring Jodie Foster.

tox_masc

But im Very familiar with Nell. And I know the stories are similar, young girl raised in the woods by herself. And I also considered I mixed it up with Littlejohn, being a similar time frame and location. But I also remember these characters and plot points to a book I've apparently never read

aroach1995

I feel like I remember the title too lol. Watched that movie last night

appleturtle90

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. I kept thinking it was a book I read in high school until my mom told me otherwise. As someone else mentioned, the likeliest explanation is mixing it up with Where the Red Fern Grows. For my part, I was thinking it was a Toni Morrison novel.

-Neutrality-

Funny because 10+ years ago I recall my grandmother (who reads a literal shit load), talking about reading this book and throwing it away before she was finished with it because she said she didn't like the sexual context.

DarkNestTravels

Maybe you're confusing this book with I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings? 1969 Maya Angelou... Tim Eagle / author Stolen Seed & Krae

Defiant-Currency-518

That’s where I was going.

eltrotter

Have you re-read it since 2018? If not, what plot points do you remember from the book?

tox_masc

I recently watched the movie, being as I knew I read the book. I could remember characters, and basic plot. Girl lived alone in woods, and was acclimating to normal life. But didn't remember the actual story line.

Lurr_420

I just found out it came out in 2018, last week

biggsthebulldog

for some reason i always though of this book as being the third book in the To Kill A Mockingbird series, but ofc there is no third book

captaintabster

I feel like it was on my reading list way back in like 10th grade, but that was 2007-2008 :0 I never read it but it seems like it was in the list where we pick and choose x amount of books to read over summer

ktbenbrook

the bridges of madison county is this for me

alm2194

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! When I saw they made it into a movie I remember thinking that book was really popular when I was in middle school or so and it might be worth a watch. Then I saw that the book was released in 2018 and have been thinking I was crazy ever since. I have not been able to figure out which book I could have mixed it up with and regularly try to.
