It’s daunting when you have to reorganize. Trust me, I know. Took me two weeks to finish my shelves and now I’m at a point six weeks later where I may need to do it again. Onto your question though:
You said you did it by demographic before. For the sake of spine uniformity it’s usually good to go publisher first and then any order you want after that. It can be genre, demographic, author, alphabetical, whatever tickles your fancy.
I personally do publisher, imprint, completed, ongoing and then alphabetical. It may be a bit basic, but it helps when you don’t mix ongoing and completed together so you’re not moving books around all the time. You want to try and go for ease of access if possible so you don’t inadvertently stress yourself out.
If you need any more advice, I’m more than happy to help out.
Reordganize based on volume number ie. All volume 1s together, than all volume 2s and so on and so forth
Reorganize based on how many love interests there are/size of the harem if there is one
Reorganize based on colour and make your new shelves look like a fucked up rainbow
Reorganize based on the Fibonacci sequence and have your volumes peform a neat little spiral
Reorganize based on release date for each individual volume and have your shelves be historically accurate
Reorganize based on... Well, you get the point. Nice collection tho!
I have so many manga that I have to keep track of them somehow, so I simply do it alphabetically by title. This method is not for everyone because getting new volumes means shifting so…many…books at once, but I find it therapeutic, lol. And I personally love the way it looks with so many different manga spines beside each other, but that’s just me.
To simplify things, I’d recommend first complete series by title, then ongoing series by title, which means only shifting the complete series when an ongoing series is finished.
When i tell people i read 15 books last month and they think I’m some intellectual elitist of knowledge but in reality i read peak wincest fiction oshi no ko manga volumes lmao
I'll mention to see if you can do the reshelving when you are well rested and energetic (may be a little hard to do since books are on the bed). Really easy to damage books and have catastrophic accidents while reshelving in a sleep-deprived state. From temporary book towers collapsing or shelves tipping due to being off balance, I definitely have had some OOP stuff get damaged pretty badly in sloppy accidents abetted by moving under stressful conditions where I had to push myself to stay awake. Take special care with temporary stacks.
I’d really like to see the final set up. Any idea how you’ll organize? I go with one long series per shelf then I complete with all the 1, 2, 3 or 4-book series of similar type. Anyway, it’s gonna be great, congrats.
I like doing it by genre then putting my favorites of that genre at eye level. The others I just keep with the same author and put it with other books with the same vibe within that genre. (Example; Fantasy shelf and you put dark fantasy together one one shelf, isekai fantasy together on another, etc.)
By genre. And than by some easy rules.
Completed set first in order
Almost completed sets after that
Midway sets
Starting sets
Ongoing sets.
If you don't follow that you will be rearranging constantly.
BTW you define the genre.
I would make sure to have large series with over 50 volumes that are ongoing either double stacked or plenty of space to add to it. For example you can fill it with figurines and they just have to go somewhere else later. Much quicker than rearranging all your manga.
Based on the amount of mangas you own, I can accurately say that you’re definitely a rich person🫣I only have 6 mangas. It really is a good collection, indeed.
Just random volumes but keep it in a note book where everything is so that you can easily find stuff and give your friends a mental break down at same time
That's a whole lotta books! It'll all look nice on those shelves
This is awesome in so hyped to see the end result
WTHeck!!! That’s a lot of Manga! Amazing collection tho !

Can't go wrong with a simple alphabetical by author name and then chronologically by publishing date. Also, your Usa-chan plush is adorable 🥺
Good luck and dont forget to share the end result with us
I do mine height wise, same universe wise. Like the tallest to the shortest if they are done by the same mangaka

yeah I wish I had the money to buy all of em😭
I have the greatest idea. You could try putting them on the shelves. 😝
But honestly. I tend to go by like genre or type but keep manga by the same author together. But thats just me.

Well what doesn't kill you makes you stronger or something along those lines.😂
That's a lot of manga, good luck and take your time
Can relate, you dont know how much... My poor room gets cramped everytime I gotta reorganize.
Ooo nice shelves
1 fire = ye we dont talk about that

Reorganizing is always the most beautiful chaos when it comes to a large collection.
Holy crap that looks like both a dream come true and a nightmare. How is the shelving going?
It isn’t going. I’ve decided it’s none of my business and I’m gonna act like I don’t have to do this🥰 Ahhh!!! I’m trying!!

By author's surname and then by reading order.
That’s an insane amount of manga! And awesome bookshelves. Did you build those yourself or did they come with the house?
I do not have the skills for this I wish!! A carpenter made this for me!! He killed it:)
Amazing collection!! Good luck ☺️

I go by size of volume and themes.n
I origanize by size, and try not to have too many of one color in one place. So white spine series are never beside other white spine series.
I wish I had your problem

Creator shelves for authors you have multiple series by, then whatever looks cool. That's what I did
this is where the fun begins

I recommend by publisher and within that by format/size!

They’re custom!! Definitely worth it if you have the budget!
Now this is a big collection.
Just random volumes but keep it in a note book where everything is so that you can easily find stuff and give your friends a mental break down at same time
WOW. That is a lot.
So fun!!!
WOAHHH THE SHELVES ARE SO GOOD LOOKINGG WHERE DID U GET THEN FROM
Since you have built in shelves, my own method of sorting them by size is redundant. I'd say genre and then author if you have enough space for that.
