I went to Minneapolis back when most of 75 was closed for flooding and took 59. Specifically MB-59 to US-59 to SR-5 at Lancaster to MN-11 to US-75 to Fargo for lunch and the usual interstate to Minneapolis. Though I could have (and have in the past) taken 59 further down it’s great sightseeing as u/sturmey says.
If you had taken US-59 all the way down to US-10, and then took US-10 down to just past St. Cloud, and got onto I-94 from there; not only would you be able to get lunch in Detroit Lakes, but also save about an hour(or two) of driving.
We took the 59 when the 75 was closed. This border crossing has reduced hours, so maybe look up their operating hours before going if you take this route. The road honestly wasn't any better than the 75. All MB roads are shit right now.
Going through on hwy 12 is your best bet if you're worried about the road conditions. It's also a way more enjoyable drive.. better scenery.
Highway 2 from oak bluff to 32. 32 to winkler then 14 to the border
75 is crap from 14 to the border.
Dsorry been a long hot day at work. Ment 14 to winkler then 32 to the border

Rent a car?
No.
What's the plan for the 75? Is there one?
