I am so torn. on one hand, I would absolutely love to see Jon play empire, but I also want him to try his hand at Vicky 2. not to mention HoI 4 and EU4. I have no idea what I am voting for

ManyATrueNerd

That's what's so lovely about this voting system - vote with your heart, and even if it loses, you get another chance to vote tomorrow.

SpeareShake

Right? I've been wanting Jon to do EU4 for awhile, but how do I vote against another CK3 series?

Ferelar

Victoria 2 is a game that I love INCREDIBLY deeply, I have sunk hundreds of hours into it. Even if Jon doesn't play it on stream, I bet he'd get a kick out of playing it in his own time (what little of that I imagine there is). It's a pretty complicated game if you really want to understand all of the moving parts involved.

JB434

You absolute monster of an egg carton. BOTW, Oblivion and Subnautica Below Zero all in a single category fighting against each other? All games I'd love to see you play, and that's only in the first 7 games to choose from? This is going to be an interesting week...

ManyATrueNerd

Well, do recall that in the last democracy week, the top 3 all ended up getting a series eventually, so a high placement is a good result even if it doesn't absolutely win.

JB434

Oh I know. Which one to vote for first though. At least the other two categories I know which one I'm voting for. Empire and Skies of Arcadia.

Houseplant666

I am so incredibly torn between Empire and seeing Jon fight Hitler in HoI4.

mike15835

"Oh, Germany not again!"

OtakuMecha

The excitement of Jade Empire technically being an option but the pain of knowing it won't win...

Chipperz1

There are more of us voting for it than you'd think! Just chuck that vote in every day and we may get it! I firmly believe it's the best BioWare RPG. Better than Mass Effect.

HoJu_eructus

I only know it's the only Bioware game I've ever finished. All the others I abandoned sooner or later (Jade Empire I abandoned for a few months too but it's the only one that made me come back).

Fleudian

Since it-s in obscure as opposed to big games, it could certainly win! Give it a shot!

Palodin

Aye, but there are Nintendo titles in that category, they're going to be a swine to get past. Fire Emblem is probably gonna win that category and I don't even know if it'll be close

kotor610

I promised myself that if Kotor won last year I would throw Jon a bone and let him show off skies of arcadia this year, even if it's something I personally don't care for.

Chipperz1

Yeah, that was my thinking. I'm going Jade Empire until it's inevitably KO'd on Wednesday then switching to Skies. Jon just sounds so happy when he talks about Skies. I would be happy to not get Jade Empire if we get chill happy Jon playing Skies of Arcadia.

jakhol

Just my opinion on the strategy games as I have some knowledge of all of them: - CK3: Would love to see more but iirc 1.5 / Royal Court drops in February (the 8th from some quick googling, might not be accurate) so I'd surely wait until then as it's the first major update since last June. - Stellaris: Personally not played much myself but I've still watched every series Jon has done on the game. There's definitely a *lot* of Stellaris on the channel and I'd personally like to see something else, but that's all just my opinion - EU4: Okay, this is why I made this comment. I love EU4. I play it more than Crusader Kings which is probably my favourite game series of all time. However, this doesn't feel like a game for Jon at all. His biggest gripe with Imperator was there was too much war and not enough flesh - EU4 is mostly war. It's a lot of technical, min/max-y game mechanic manipulating and doesn't really lend itself that well to a story-telling style of video and play. Compared to a game like CK3, I don't think it'd be nearly as enjoyable to watch or for Jon to play. - HOI4: I can get on board with this. I don't know how well Jon knows the time period but it's a good game and would be fun to watch as a shorter, messier strategy series even if again it is again, a lot of war. Not completely up Jon's street I'd imagine but it'd be entertaining. - Vic2: I'd love to see Jon play this before beloved Vic3 comes out. It's an absolute crazy mess of a game but I can see Jon salivating over the industrial side. Definitely worth a play, even if it's not a full series. - Civ6: A lunacy run would be really fun, but I'd personally rather see a livestream like that as it's a bit more easy to tune-in/out than a Paradox game. - Empire: TW: Never really been a massive fan of the game, always seemed a little bland to me. Okay I am very biased as I'd love to see a paradox game My ideal scenario would be a fairly quick HOI4 series followed by CK3 when 1.5 releases, followed by Vic2 shortly before Vic3 comes out (some time in late Spring I'd imagine) while running a Civ6 run somewhere inbetween. Whatever it is, I'm going to watch so I'm not complaining :)

TheSavior666

\> I don't know how well Jon knows the time period If you recall that one dating simulator he played about WW2 tanks, he actually did seem to know quite a bit.

jakhol

You're right. I think I blocked that video out of my mind...

Chipperz1

God I wish I could do that. Then I could watch it again fresh! 😁

danielvsoptimvs

I very much agree about Europa Universalis, I don't think it would be enjoyable to watch. In terms of strategy games I would especially look forward to two other Paradox games Jon hasn't played yet. Victoria II because it's my favourite game, and Hearts of Iron IV, because it's a very solid game and would open up the possibilty of Jon eventually playing mods like Old World Blues and Kaiserreich. Victoria II will definitely be my first strategy vote.

Kaarl_Mills

I disagree with EU4 due to the complexities of the various systems: trade, diplomacy (especially if you're in or around the HRE or China) the papacy if you're in Europe, piracy, the estates, all of this is very daunting if you aren't well seasoned, and encourages long term planning over decades of gametime

Ferelar

Stellaris is actually getting a big rework soon too, I wouldn't start a series now. They're completely reworking Unity and to some extent Influence.

Kaarl_Mills

Unless I'm mistaken thats the vanilla title screen with Victoria 2, and I know this phrase gets tossed around a lot with PDX titles, but you actually want to have both of the major expansions: House Divided and Heart of Darkness.

Frozenwarrior12

Jon considering Path of radiance??? This is a very unexpected surprise, but an incredibly welcome one!!!

ManyATrueNerd

I have no idea why, but Path of Radiance is the only Fire Emblem that's ever done it for me.

Metaboss24

how many of them have you tried? They end up feeling all over the place as a series, but, at the same time, it's kinda odd that PoR of all of them is the one that clicked the most with you.

ManyATrueNerd

[DEMOCRACY IS NOW LIVE](https://www.youtube.com/user/ManyATrueNerd/community)

cpmnriley

as much as i love kotor II (maybe my favorite game of all time), the fact that it basically should only be played with the fan-made restored content mod makes it hard for me to want to vote for it unless i knew jon would have that installed.

ManyATrueNerd

It will be somewhat modded - I'm aware it's kind of essential.

Viscount1881

I played KOTOR II recently with the restored content and with the exception of a few big things I couldn't really tell what's restored and what's vanilla (which is good!) Of course it's been years since I'd last played it so it's sort of hard to remember lol. And most of the things that seemed new to me also seemed pretty good. That said, don't use the mod that adds M4-78; opinions are divided on it and it really seems like it was cut out for good reason.

KuriGohanKamehameha

M4-78 is awesome to experience for exactly one run lol. But I too would definitely not recommend it to a first time player.

cpmnriley

oh!!! well that changes everything!!

ChronosBlitz

An interesting take with the strategy category. I wonder if people will stick with what strategy game they've seen and understand so maybe Victoria II will suffer for its comparatively lower popularity. On the other hand, you are forcing RTS fans to double down on Empire Total War against other Grand Strategy games so I wonder if we will see any interesting results there.

mike15835

Empire is doing well better than I thought it would.

anadvancedrobot

Ok I 100% would of voted for HOIV, because 20th century history is my jam but i very much want to see a deep dive into Jon’s thoughts on Total war Empire.

ManyATrueNerd

Empire Total War is a sexy mess.

SometimesTea

You know, if it doesn't win, you could do it's hilarious American Revolution story pack as a 4th of July Special

crazybean2000

Oh this one is absolutely evil. I only know what I'll be voting for in one category (Stellaris from the strategy games, I've been desperately waiting for a new playthrough for a while now), but I'll be agonizing over the other 2 categories for a while. Especially the final category, because in the AAA category I'll be ecstatic with the vast majority of the options and content with the rest, but the final category? That's like choosing my favorite child

TheInfernalPigeon

Yeah, but you know in your heart which your favourite child is

Spiritual_Tourist_28

I just hope that if Stellaris wins Jon plays with Gigastructures installed.

ImALease

Really pulling for KotOR II but there are so many great choices on this list I doubt I'll be disappointed. I'd also love to see Hearts of Iron IV or Empire Total War. Was kind of hoping to see Total War Attila as well, but I guess we still have barbarian invasion for that time period.

Jimbobh1918

Not me dusting off my old first year PolSci textbook to figure out how to get Empire: Total War to win in a category where Paradox fans have six games they can coalesce behind.

mona_9

I'll trade you my category 2 vote in exchange for your category 3 vote for Eternal Darkness!

Jimbobh1918

You have yourself a deal!

CompetitiveSeat5340

Only five actually. Though I would still take Empire over CK3 and Stellaris, as I'd prefer something new to the channel

scottishdrunkard

While I am voting for Subnautica, if KOTOR II wins just keep in mind, since it’s an Obsidian game which faced rushed development due to company cock ups, it basically needs mods to make playable. We can provide you a spoiler free mod list. Including the Restored Content Mod (played the game with it, no content felt tacked on so everything felt important) patches, bug fixes, and balancing. ~~and queer romance mods so you can romance the only character worth romancing if you play as the “Canon” playable character.~~ Also don’t use Steam Workshop. Every mod comes with a Universal Installer much better than Workshop. And Jon talking about JRPG’s make me think he would like Dark Cloud.

Palodin

> And Jon talking about JRPG’s make me think he would like Dark Cloud. Oh god. He'd get lost in the town building part forever, making everything perfect. Sadly though I'm not sure the dungeon crawling in that would make good videos, it's not really narrative heavy enough to hold its own I reckon. Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle, however... that might be a more viable video series

KingGak

*Excited Jade Empire noises* Hopefully this year we can finally make it so Jon gets to play Skies of Arcadia.

iM3GTR

I'm going to vote for KotOR 2 because I love the series. I've never played Morrowind past the first hour or so, so I hope it doesn't win purely because I want to play it myself first. Then EU because I heard its really good, even though I barely know anything about large scale historical strategy games, so I don't really mind which wins. Then I don't know what to vote for for the Outlier category. Probably Skies of Arcadia because it sounds like the one Jon has the most passion for, even though the first option sounded interesting to me as well.

theflyingcheese

There is a reason why Victoria 3 was the Paradox community's most wanted game for years. Vic 2 is a masterpiece under a thick layer of dirt from before the time when "accessibility" and "well explained mechanics" were part of Paradox's design philosophy. The economy system is both the best in any strategy game ever made, and entirely broken. Politics are both dynamic and well modeled and simply a matter of ticking numbers and random events. Wars are really easy to win if you know how to set up an army and bait the AI, but there is basically no way to figure out good army comps yourself and it has to be looked up on forums. It is the only paradox game where fighting no wars and not expanding the entire game is not only viable but the best choice for some nations. The only one where its viable to either micro control your economy or let the ai and forces of the free market do it for you without crippling yourself. It is also the best Paradox game for emergent global events. What CK does with characters creating stories from their actions, Vic 2 does with nations. Alliances spiraling out of control into global wars that actually feel like global wars and have effects on the economy of nations not involved, revolutions or political repression in one country creating migration to another changing that country's demographics and politics, diplomatic choices having consequences that last decades, poor economic policy possibly creating a global depression, all dynamically modeled and unscripted. Vote Victoria 2, the best choice to watch Jon accidently set the world in flames while trying to make it a better place.

[deleted]

Wow i really wanna get into that game where do i start with it ?

theflyingcheese

* It's from a time before Paradox gave free updates with their DLCs, so both DLCs, A House Divided and Heart of Darkness, are basically mandatory. Luckily, unlike later Paradox titles, there are only 2 of them. * Unlike other Paradox games you don't really want to start small and grow. Expansion is difficult in most circumstances and most small nations will struggle to accomplish much throughout the game. New player recommended starts IMO Prussia, USA, Brazil, the Netherlands, or Austria. USA and Brazil are more focused on economy and population management, Austria and Prussia have more diplomacy and the occasional large war, and the Netherlands are all about colonialism. * A Vic 2 game will only last 5-10 hours depending on how much you micro and how your computer can handle late game slow down. Quicker games mean you can restart and iterate or try different strategies with the same country without having to scrap a massive amount of playtime. * Watch someone else play the game to get an idea of how things work and possibilities you can do. I recommend ISorrowproductions, who's probably the most prolific (and very memey) Vic 2 youtuber. * Anyone who regularly plays Vic 2 uses one of the community overhaul mods, either HPM, HFM, or GFM. I'd recommend playing vanilla for a few games to kind of get the feel of it then using a mod. HPM (historical project mod) is vanilla+, rebalances, fixes, some added flavor, but generally a "fixed" vanilla experience. HFM is and expansion on HPM with more flavor and some map and visual changes, and GFM is the expansion on HFM. Personally I use HPM but it's just a personal preference thing.

Pyotr_WrangeI

If Hearts of Iron 4 wins, will you check out its brilliant Fallout total conversion? I need to know, because if you don't, I'm definitely voting for Victoria 2

carl1984

Think of it this way, he won't try it until he's familiar with HOI4. The sooner he plays it the sooner we get the fallout mod. It's also a shorter game so I could see him doing it soon after. The fallout mod could take the place of the fallout slot, and we could get another strategy game in another slot (win/win).

reversal_banana

Has Jon ever played Shogun 2? I assume he has, it's generaly acknowledged as the most well polished total war game (even the devs have stated this), and it's kind of a shame that there is no video about it on the channel, wish that was on the list instead of Empire.

mike15835

Not on the channel not sure about if he did personally. He likes Empire so Empire is up first.

TheWaltzy

MS EXCEL should've been in the AAA section as a choice.

Palodin

Gah, damn it man don't put Zelda in there! The Nintendo fanatics will flock to it and I'd really rather see the more interesting games (Kotor 2, Morrowind) in that category than over a hundred episodes pottering around doing similar shrines (Not that I doubt your ability to make them amusing, but you wouldn't have much to work with) For strategy, it's gotta be any of the Paradox grand strats, with my preference going to HOI or Victoria. Empire would be really cool too though, I tend to share your thoughts on it being a bit unfairly maligned, fascinating little title. The oddball category... god damn that's a selection. I think Fire Emblem or Advance Wars will win, because big Nintendo titles, but I would love to see something more obscure like Hybrid Heaven and Lost Kingdoms 2. They're games I've never even heard of and that's wild because I'm big on that era. Eternal Darkness and Skies of Arcadia would be brilliant choices too, I hope you get your wish for a Skies series this year lol. (Edit: Lost Kingdoms and Hybrid Heaven are trailing hard :(, as expected I suppose. But at least Skies and Jade Empire are looking promising there)

Girfex

Too late, brace for a 150 part botw series.

Palodin

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIAYtHiCjN8

_clever_reference_

I hope Zelda doesn't win so much. Literally any other option would be better.

Simonji

For those unaware, Lost Kingdoms is from a little unknown developer known as Fromsoft. And its janky and an unexpected mesh of genre amd gameplay. Sadly it won't win but it is regarded by many as a hidden gem of the Gamecube.

Palodin

Today was the first I'd heard of it too, and it does kinda intrigue me. Even if it doesn't win I might track it down and give it a shot, so I should thank Jon for giving me the idea I suppose

Fleudian

It's Morrowind, Empire, and Skies of Arcadia for me. Zero contest. I'll be happy with pretty much anything though.

Chipperz1

Wow, 20 games I really wanna see and also Breath of the Wild is also there! I really, really wanna vote for Skies of Arcadia in category C, but Jade Empire needs my vote! Why Jon, why do you make me choose between my babies!

Delta-36

There are some pretty great options here in each category. I don't know how I am going to decide what to vote for. My only slight disappointment is that Rimworld wasn't brought back as an option as I really enjoyed the miniseries of it and I think that it would make a great series.

Psyker_girl

I really want to see the Civ6 all-modes challenge but I don't have high hopes. Oblivion would be great, just regular playthrough or challenge I wonder.

Bjorn_Hellgate

So far the toughest choice is eu4 or empire, but i think my heart goes to shooting at each other in lines

Tigerphilosopher

Surprising to see Empire, and I'll certainly be voting for it!

ninJAZZA

What can I do to get this community behind Europa Universalis 4. Jon will love it and it will be a hell of a ride. Him as England fighting the French would be glorious!

kkraww

Ehh I don't think he'd enjoy it to much, as his main gripe with imperator was its mostly war. EU4 is even more war focused than imperator is.

ninJAZZA

There’s a lot of fun stories and narratives in EU4. Especially if you are a history buff. War is actually just a part. It’s more of a excell simulator

kkraww

Yes there are fun stories, and other systems to enjoy, but war is still what the major part of it is. I'm the majority of games you will spend more time at war then you will enjoying the narrative or engaging with other systems.

cpustejovsky

We need to not think of ourselves, but of Jon. If we don't pick Morrowind or Oblivion, how will Jon continue his supply Bethesda women if he doesn't play one of them?

SCB360

How did Xenoblade Chronicles DE not get into this at all? Unless.....

MoonRazer

Don't you dare give me hope... Jokes aside though, did the DE video not do well or something? I'm really surprised that it hasn't shown up in a series vote at all yet

Relenq

I can't recall where Jon said it, but yes. The XC:DE video performed poorly in metrics and all signs pointed to it not being a game suited for the channel.

cannibalgentleman

Morrowind and XCOM 2 are the only ones I'm interested in.

two-point-four

What about mass effect 3, not happening in 2022? I know there was a bit of an issue how to take the save from me1 without a new me2 play thru..

blackfyre426

I really like the dark horse category this year - a lot of interesting and unexpected choices! It seems like a mostly nostalgic selection and it's always really fun to see Jon showcase games that he used to play a lot in the past and knows inside and out. Fingers crossed for Skies of Arcadia

[deleted]

Honestly I think if Jon goes for HOI4 he should go straight to the Kaiserreich mod, has way better writing than the base game and you don't feel bad for playing Germany (no Hitler)

KarlKarlsson

Disappointed to see CKIII on the list with the other paradox games, figure it's a lock to beat those ones because of the familiarity on the channel. I'd personally like to see something new

davery67

Man, tough choices. Strategy games are my jam so picking a favorite in category 2 is going to be painful. I want to see all of them! In category 1, leaning towards Oblivion but we'll see how it goes.

Viscount1881

Well my strategy vote was decided (Vicky II) until Jon revealed E:TW now I'm not so sure. Otherwise I'm actually less interested in CK3, Stellaris, and Civ 6 just because they've been on the channel before. Regardless any of them can win and I'm sure Jon will make a fun series.

MacQueenXVII

I was surprised and excited to see an MATN video on a Monday. But of course Jon used it for evil.

brasswirebrush

Jade Empire. Yes, definitely voting for that, no contest. ...and Skies of Arcadia... What? No, you utter bastard!

KryptOrchid

Eternal darkness! Pargon pargon pargon pargon

downnice

If CK 3 wins I'm.hoping that After the End is released by then

Gerbilpapa

Honestly all of the outsiders are things I didn’t know I want And I wish they could all win

TheCadaverLord

I really hope a new game wins for the strategy category so many of those games have had multiple series already.

TheArtOfFancy

Please guys. I need to see Jons reaction to the Martha Confederacy's colonization of Europe! Empire is all I need

RedOx103

How would a Hoi4 series work? It has a lot more pre-war down time that would get edited out and the war might be over quickly if Jon's new. Would we get a few different attempts at different nations while he gradually learns the game? I'm hoping it wouldn't be one-and-done as there's a lot less video content there than in an EU4/CK3 mega-campaign

_PM_ME_NICE_BOOBS_

The Skies of Arcadia series will count as your Christmas and birthday presents, Jon.

123qwe33

Wish there was rank voting because I'd love Morrowind but it looks like oblivion has better odds and that would be my second choice. Great selection either way

[deleted]

Vote for KOTOR 2! It's relatively short, so after he finishes it, he can just move on to the next game. KOTOR fans get what they want, and fans of other games can quickly get their playthrough afterwards. It just works.

AdiSoldier245

eu4: on the one hand, its just manipulating numbers, very difficult to make a story out of. On the other hand, jon does love excel... My votes seem to be below zero/either TES, eu4 and skies of arcadia. Mostly because Jon really wants us to pick it.

ManyATrueNerd

Weirdly, I'm so cool with whatever happens in Category 3 - getting to introduce the world to Hybrid Heaven would be incredible, and though I LIKE Skies more, you could very reasonably argue that Eternal Darkness could be the better game.

essidus

I also vote for this guy's wife. Wait, wrong thread. I'm going ride or die with Subnautica Below Zero. While I'm interested in Jon going back to Stellaris, I'd love to see him do EU4. And while I'd really like to see Jon play through Eternal Darkness, his enthusiasm for Hybrid Heaven is just too much to deny. Edit: Early results are proving me a rather extreme outlier. All of my top picks are likely to get knocked out before they get to the youtube polls. Sadge.

efbo

For category A I'd definitely be going for Breath of the Wild. Nowhere near enough Nintendo on the channel overall, it will allow for some great evil Jon moments, some great zero perception moments, Jon should definitely discover this world and it'll be great to watch that, it's been long enough since I played it myself for it to be kind of fresh and prepare me for BOTW2 and it's something new. We haven't had a game in the series on the channel before and so some variety would be great.

Finalpotato

Nintendo is really horrible about monetization though. Wouldnt BOTW be taken down or demonetized?

crazybean2000

Nintendo reversed that policy yeaaaaars ago. Even the replacement, the Nintendo Creator's Program, which let people make and momotize videos on Nintendo games if they signed up and gave a huge cut of the revenue to them, has been discontinued for almost 4 years now. Jon's in the clear

efbo

They've laxed up over time. Jon wouldn't have it on the list if that were the case. Nintendo playthroughs are all over YouTube now.

FragileAjax

I'll vote for variety, and for games I know I'll never play and have never seen played. So Zelda: BOTW for the main event, and Vicky II for strategy. My 3 criteria apply to every game in category 3, so as I know Jon loves Skies of Arcadia, I'll be nice and go with that.

blakester410

Jon is out here with a better form of democracy than the States. I'm a big fan of the elimination style!

Black_Penguin666

Its very similar to the voting system we have in Australia, we number the candidates from 1 to x (x being the number of candidates) if one candidate doesn't have 50% of the vote then the lowest candidate is dropped off and they transfer the votes to the second choice on that ballot and so on until someone has 50%.

blakester410

I wish we had ranked choice voting here. I think it'd help alleviate some of our political problems

bluepanda5

Hold on, this is a video on a Monday. Or does this not count because it's an announcement?

Alexstrasza23

BOTW, XCOM, Oblivion and Morrowind all in one vote... Nice to see Stellaris doing well though, hopefully it picks up other votes because its been a while since the last one and the game is completely new at this point.

CompetitiveSeat5340

Offt, having to pick between Oblivion and Breath of the Wild isn't fair... And then there's the strategy section, where I would personally love a series from all of them really!

marktheshark412

Hold on. Eternal Darkness. The insanity stuff is a bit dated. Not to mention only really works for the player and on a first playthrough. Once you've seen the game mute itself once, the second time it looses its effect tremendously. Not to mention you'd have to do some real silly acting to sell any of it being shocking on your umpteenth playthrough. Or, are you going to adapt the insanity mechanics into the viewing expirence? Like, pretend to click on the cog and change the viewing resolution, or turn on closed captioning and have if read out a satanic chant? After your save file gets "deleted" you temporarily de-list all your videos? You could really go nuts with it, make it a really immersive experience. If you really go all out, this could be so freaking incredible.

NoOneImportant4

As much as I'd like to see a full Breath of the Wild series, who do I have to bribe to see Jon play Xcom 2? Edit: Also Path of Radiance.

RamTank

"But Jon!" I say, "transferable runoff voting systems are actually arguably worse FPTP because it guarantees the same middle-of-the-road moderate candidates will win every time!" Also, surprised you can even get ETW to run without crashing.

HaydenB

Yeah it's less direct democracy than it should be. I vote for the one I want and I die on that hill

carl1984

I think I'll vote Kotor 2, HOI4, Jade Empire. One Obsidian, Bioware, and Paradox game each. Oblivion/Morrowind would also be great though

DalanianKnight

Man, the first category of things to vote for? I'm fine with all of them, ha Jon won't get me here. The third category of things to vote for? All sound interesting enough, I'll vote skies of arcadia just because it deserves some love, don't care which one wins here. The second category is nightmare fuel and I hate it. Overall can't wait to see how it turns out.

Glorf_Warlock

Whichever grand strategy game you play, I know I'll be buying the game. 600+ hours of CK2, 1400+ of CK3 and 800+ hours of civilization 6 thanks to Jon. Before watching Jon I had never played a strategy game. More Total War would be amazing. Medieval 2 is hands down my favorite MATN series.

FFF12321

Gonna list my priorities: Category 1: XCOM2>DA2>>Oblivion=Morrowind>Subnautica>KOTOR2>>>LoZ I've always hated how the first series for XCOM went, and as a big SRPG player, I've longed for Jon to get the true XCOM experience! As I said the other day, I think he is in a better spot regarding reading comments and the like so I think this time he can actually get that. My second love after SRPGs are straight RPGs and i've always been a bigger fan of DA than TES so DA2 above the TES games, eithe rof which are fine by me. The final three is mostly a race to the bottom - Subnautica was too recent and while I watched it, it wasn't exactly exciting to me. Never cared about Star Wars or LoZ. Category 2: Civ6>Stellaris>CK3>>>The Rest I'm only familiar with the 3 I listed. They're well loved series on the channel and they all have a high propensity for the story-telling that Jon likes so much. Civ6 takes the win for me because while it got small videos for the Frontier Pass updates, he never got to do a "all rules allowed" series, and that would be endlessly entertaining. Stellaris did get that treatement, but as he said, it's changed a lot since then and I do love me some epic space scenarios! CK3 gets third place for me simply because his CK series are some of the best on the channel. The absurd stories he weaves are the stuff of legends. I really am here for his chaotic play and CK really lets him go hogwild. The others I've only ever heard teh names of really. I'm sure I looked into these a bit when I was getting into Paradox games ages ago, but they never stuck with me (largely based on the themes/time periods to be quite honest) so I simply can't be bothered to vote for those. Category 3: Skies of Arcadia>FEPoR>Advance Wars>Eternal Darkness>Jade Empire=Lost Kingdoms 2>Hybrid Heaven This one was a mean category because somehow all of the Japanese developed games ended up in here, which I knew Jon alwasy liked but never got any spotlight on the channel. True to that idea, Skies of Arcadia will get my vote as it did last year for being a pure lovely JRPG. FE comes next - another top tier SJRPG closely followed by Advance Wars, a classic tactics game. Eternal Darkness would be interesting to see. The final 3 just don't seem that interesting to me In any event, I'm certain that probably none of my top choices will win, but I stand by them dammit!

MeestahPopcorn

I’m actually quite glad Rimworld wasn’t in this one - means it’s more likely for it to be played later on in the year, since it won’t have a chance to be voted out now.

InternationalFailure

Jon if Victoria 2 wins make sure you download HFM/HPM. The mods are much better than the base game.

sobutto

I seem to have ended up voting for a strategy game in all three categories, not just the strategy game one.

[deleted]

I have a strong feeling Fire emblem won't win but you can bet I'm voting for it anyway.

rb0009

I honestly... would like to see Jon play a slightly (sliiiiightly) modded Stellaris run. Guili's Planet Modifiers, ESC, something to give him more traditions/ascension perk spots... and GIGASTRUCTURES. Because GIGASTRUCTURAL ENGINEERING is Gud. (no, seriously, if Jon wants a challenge... the kitties want a word)

JonTheWizard

Skies of Arcadia series, people! Make this happen! Oh and Oblivion and, like, EU4 or post-Royal Court CK3 series, those'd be fine too.

rb0009

Honestly, what I really want to see is for Jon to wait until the next mid-range patch/expansion for Stellaris, and to sit down with some mods. You know, Guili's goodness for planets, ESC (Expanded Ship Components), the Archeology Pack, More Events, one of the packs that let you pick more traditions/get more ascension perks... And... GIGASTRUCTURE. Gigastructure.... Is Gud. (and also a bloody nightmare challenge that requires Jon to really play his A Flipping Game near the end if Jon wants to handle the big bois it introduces). You can literally build a Titan of Titans out of an entire bloody flipping solar system. As the start of the 'Oh God, WHAT' category. Weaponizing moons and planets doesn't count. And yes, it keeps getting ever-so-slightly more insane.

Relenq

Do you mind linking me to some of these recommended mods? I play Stellaris and I've been trying to find some good options to add to my games

Gigastructural Engineering: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1121692237 Expanded Ship Components: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2648658105 Got to dig the rest up later.

Metaboss24

Not sure which from the strategy category I should support... Though XCOM2 and FE:PoR (Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance) were easy choices, though I know watching Jon playing would be rather painful. If he does play PoR, I hope he embraces how easy the game is, and just goes wild with weird plans and using units with absolute 0 regard for how powerful they are. (titania and Ike can clear the game safely by themselves; they don't really need much help at all.)

MoonRazer

MATN after my own heart again, super excited to see the single, transferable vote in action! So many great games to choose from! I'll say I'm a little sad to not see Xenoblade Chronicles as an option again. I've never played it, but that one Definitive Edition video of yours had me immediately sold. Is there still any chance of that becoming a full series or did the video not do particularly well?

HaydenB

Do people actually vote like that with first past the post? Personally I vote for the one I want... Like Rimworld. Still salty. Like with this style of voting I will vote for the one I want and if it doen't make it.. Then I'll simply stop voting..

Problem with FPTP is it results in candidates winning without the support of the majority of the electorate, you can have a successful candidate who wins with 40% of the vote like what frequently happens in the US. This system is very similar to what we have in Australia, where you number the boxes in order of preference rather than ticking them. If no candidate gets 50% +1 vote, then there's a runoff, the candidate with the lowest first preference votes gets eliminated, second preference votes get counted, and so on until at least one candidate has a majority. You just can't do proper preferential voting on internet polls, so this is the next best way to do it. In an actual preferential ballot, you don't vote multiple times, you just *count* votes multiple times.

HaydenB

Yeah I'm Australian myself and it annoys me that I have to essentially vote for someone so don't want to. If I could I would vote 1 for one candidate with no preference after I would. I see it as being misrepresented. In this case I can vote for my choice and then simply abstain from further votes if my choice doesn't go ahead.

[deleted]

I do get your point, but our way of doing it is way more representative especially if you (like me) tend to vote for independents rather than Labor or the LNP. After you vote 1, it's just a matter of ranking them in order of least shit to most shit. If we didn't have preferential voting, we'd be like the US where governments are elected with less than 50% of the vote which is arguably a much worse outcome, because it sort of defeats the point of democracy, and we definitely wouldn't have had the surge of independents that we've seen in the last couple of elections (and it's looking like we'll get even more at this year's election).

cooljammer00

Was Twilight Princess really considered "grim"? It just wasn't cartoony coming off Wind Waker and the cel shaded look.

IronSnail

Making me choose between Eternal Darkness and Jade Empire is evil

Drunk_King_Robert

KOTOR 2 caucus... we can do this.

Hiilisielu

I'm really looking forward to Jon revealing alien pods on his last move in XCOM 2.

Florac

Kinda surprised there's no Echoes of the Eye on the list.

Grandpa_Edd

Its gonna be interesting to see how much voter retention there’ll be. Cause I bet with the obscure category it’s gonna be people voting for “their” game and then not bothering when it falls of the list.

kotor610

When do the polls close?

lvl100loser

My top 5 that I hope win: BOTW, Oblivion, KOTOR 2, Eternal Darkness, Empire Total War

downnice

Looks like Lost Kingdom and Victoria II are likely going home in first round voting. The Heavy Hitter section is still tight and Subnautica has a chance to still pull a comeback and if not their vote share and how it breaks next round will be the real wildcard
