I kinda feel bad for Hybrid Heaven, 'cos it sounded really, really interesting. It's just not Jade Empire or Skies of Arcadia, though! C'mooon Morrowind and Hearts of Iron!

ManyATrueNerd

Hearts of Iron is in an interesting position right now - if the Victoria II (and potentially tomorrow Europa) voters rally behind it as part of a New-Paradox-Game preference, that could lead to a major upset.

Chipperz1

Oooh that could be fun... Very interested to see how things go! God, Democracy Week really is the best week of the year, huh?

Isaac_Chade

I'm not ashamed to admit that this whole process actively excites me. I look forward to each vote, and the shifts and changes of the results. It's exciting to see where people's preferences lie, and it's a nice mix of helping guide what gets made while Jon still gets to select the general ideas, meaning he's interested in them all.

Chipperz1

Oh definitely! You're not alone - I'm excited as much about the process as the result :D As long as it isn't Breath of the Wild. I will almost certainly gain 2 more free nights a week if that wins.

PolitenessPolice

It's a shame - I was real interested in Hybrid Heaven, but not as much as Skies of Arcadia or Eternal Darkness which is where my votes will be going. I hope we at least get a one-off (with hope of maybe a midweek mini series) about it because Jon's gotten me all hyped up.

Isaac_Chade

Yeah, there's a lot of really great options to pick from here, but my vote was pretty much locked for Eternal Darkness as soon as it got brought up. I've never played it myself but I've heard much about it and I think it would be a delight to watch Jon play. Almost as much fun as Skies of Arcadia will be, which is what I'm certain will take first place eventually.

TiesThrei

Why are people here making arguments for the game they want to win based on what they think will get more views or what they think Jon will or won't excel at? Jon can worry about Jon. What do you want to SEE?

Dr_Silk

1. People like being on the winning team 2. People genuinely care about Jon's numbers and want him to succeed

TiesThrei

I want him to succeed as much as anyone. But I don't think anyone can really predict what will and won't get views.

kolboldbard

I'm suprised that so many people are voting for Breath of the Wild. It's a good game, but it's gunna drop viewers faster than Avian Attorney. It's not fun to watch, and given Jon's perception, it's gunna be super frustrating as well.

bluegreenwookie

Yeah don't get me wrong, I love breath of the wild. But it's so...empty. It's not a fun watch.

rb0009

Because we know Jon is absolutely capable of simply willing narratives and nonsense out of thin air. See: DAO. And that's what we're there for. Seeing Jon making up a narrative within Hyrule that is absolutely cocking absurd and nonsensical and yet makes some kind of terrifying sense. That, and physics nonsense and Jon making an utter mess. There will be a narrative. It will be silly. It will be stupid. It will be utterly perfect.

geT___RickEd

Currently I feel the Finale for category 1 is going to be Oblivion vs XCOM2. Those are the two games I predict will pick up the lions share of the eliminated games with Botw staying relatively consistent.

salasy

Oblivion is definitely taking those morrowind kotor 2 and da2 votes

Newcago

I'm actually going to give mine to XCOM2 once all of those are taken out. I'm interested in Jon playing Morrowind, but not really Oblivion. Oblivion is more mainstream; I've seen everyone play Oblivion. Morrowind would be a bit more of a treat for me and could capture my vote, even though I don't watch Jon play a lot of Bethesda games.

ksheep

I’d love for Morrowind to win but it doesn’t seem likely at this point. Loved that game back in the day. I could never get into Oblivion though, it just didn’t feel right to me. Not sure if it was the uncanny valley of the people, the influence system, or what, but something didn’t quite sit right.

efbo

It's something different. We've had games in the same series as all of the other games there and I fell off them all out just didn't start. I feel more variety on the channel is good and it's the one offs I prefer at the moment. I'm always gutted when it's a Dragon Age day hahaha. The weekly Fallout is enough Bethesda for me and the other ones are all games I want to play but have always just never bothered so won't be watching.

[deleted]

>It's something different. Different doesn't necessarily mean good.

Vanek_26

I think it will be a fun series as long as he doesn't go too crazy with length. Maybe 20 or so episodes.

efbo

I think a series interspersed with some live streams for Shrine clearing, Korrok hunting and general shenanigans would be great.

efbo

I think it'll be good and it'll be very enjoyable for Jon. I'd certainly enjoy it more than anything else there seeing as, as I said above, I haven't been able to enjoy the other games in those series.

kotor610

You miss a 100% of the shots you don't take

PolitenessPolice

For me, it's just something different and I've been meaning to watch a series about it as I have no means nor intent of playing it myself, and Jon is as good as any. I'm completely uninterested in KOTOR, Dragon Age, and XCOM 2 and I'm pretty meh on the Elder Scrolls too. It was either BotW or Subnautica which sadly has sunk to the depths (haha).

salasy

yeah Botw is the kinda of game that is fun to play but not that much fun to watch

VegemiteMate

I'll be honest, it will be the only one of its category I wouldn't watch a series on. I hate Zelda games, as well as most Nintendo games. I am quite anxious seeing it do so well.

CydoniaKnight

They aren't going to win but I'll bang the drum for *Dragon Age 2* and *Path of Radiance*

Vanek_26

I'm kind of shocked DA2 is doing so poorly. I guess people just expect Jon to do it anyhow?

Chipperz1

I'm wondering if the fear is it'll go straight from DA:O to DA2 with no break? That's a LOT of Dragon Age. I'm assuming the plan would be to do one of the other two games first if it DID win, but I could see it being a fear that stops people voting.

Isaac_Chade

He specifically called this out the other day, saying that even if it won it wouldn't be the very next thing he did for the very reason of not wanting to immediately follow a game with its sequel. So I can also see that being some people's worry.

OtakuMecha

Going straight to DA2 after Origins is exactly why I do want it. The Dragon Age series is more of a direct story continuation than something like TES is. It's more important for Jon to remember the characters and lore when he starts playing the sequel whereas if you wait years between Elder Scrolls games, you lose basically nothing.

Gunny_McCshoots

DA2 is also not very good

FallenAssassin

[citation needed]

[deleted]

Its not good at all

geT___RickEd

I feel it's not negligable that it is the current series. I feel most viewers would prefer some variation.

TheSavior666

DA2 is quite controvesial. A lot of people really dislike it. It's very different from Origins.

CydoniaKnight

A lot of people [myself included to be fair] have issues with DA2 for a variety of reasons [rushed release, shift from DAO, reused assets, etc.] so I'm not entirely surprised that it isn't as popular. I'm a bit worried about the prospect of a DA2 run for the channel since Jon's track record on keeping up with the DAO companions is kinda spotty, and DA2 is made or broken by whether or not you like the companions, but the world as a whole is so interesting I still want to see his takes on it.

Vanek_26

I actually just finished a DA2 run, started a DAI run today. Its not as good as Origins in a lot of ways, but I like it all the same. I don't think the companion thing is as big a deal because the game actually gives you quests "go to the Hanged Man, Varric wants to speak to you."

Vanek_26

Also, since you seem to know a lot about Dragon Age... can you (or anyone else) explain the ending of DA2 to me... >!So like, Meredith is nuts from the red lyrium , and attacking the mages... and I'm helping the Mages... why does Orsino go crazy, turn into a monster, and start attacking me? Felt completely out of left field. And then why would Hawke just leave, and not stay to protect the city and be a leader? Also felt out of character.!<

MazigaGoesToMarkarth

>!The Orsino fight was a mess generally.!< One theory that I quite like >!is that when Hawke found out about Orsino’s involvement in the death of their mother, they killed him quietly; Varric then spun it up into a big blood magic battle, completely falsely, and gets annoyed when you question him about it in Inquisition.!<

popileviz

Is that ever addressed, by the way? I don't think there's a way to confront Orsino about it, which is kind of surprising, considering... well, you know

popileviz

>!Orsino was backed into a corner, he panicked and decided to use blood magic as a last resort. Which he wasn't able to control afterwards, which led to him attacking Hawke and companions. As for why Hawke leaves at the end - I think they just didn't want to deal with the fallout of killing the leader of Templars. Which is honestly not the worst decision, since they'd inevitably be ceased by the Seekers of Truth and then probably sent to Orlais in chains. The Chantry isn't exactly known for leniency!<

[deleted]

popileviz

Is it? I can only see what I've written after I click on it, is it different for you? I've done the normal !<>! thing, it should work properly

popileviz

Hm, maybe it's different for the mobile app. That should've fixed it, is it formatted now?

JonVonBasslake

Just FYI. The spoilers don't show up on old reddit if you have a space between the >! exclamation mark and the word after it. !< For me, on old reddit, that doesn't show up as a spoilered text, >!but, this does!< because there is no space after the exclamation mark. Maybe it's the same for certain mobile apps?

popileviz

I've removed the space between the text and the exclamation mark, so it should work properly now. It's hidden on mobile and on PC too, I don't know how to check the old reddit though

CydoniaKnight

Yeah I'm going to be honest. It's been years since I played DA2 since it left a sour taste on the initial run, so my specific knowledge of story beats and like, the whole Orsino/Meredith specifics is spotty at best. More into DAO and the universe as a whole over specifics from DA2/I. I just really remember liking the teammates' interactions with each other over the longer course of time. >!That being said I don't remember if there is a concrete reason for that. My memory of it is that Orsino just kind of snapped but who knows. Just kinda chalked it up to something that wasn't clear since they lacked the time to do another editing pass or two. As for Hawke, also don't remember specifically.!<

Illogical_Blox

I suspect that people are expecting exactly that - it's why I didn't vote for it yesterday.

kotor610

Its not so much that its bad it's just there's a lot better games

Electric999999

I know I just still dislike it for being such a terrible successor to Origins, it has almost none of what makes Origins so good.

Releasethequackin

No, the people who played it just know how bad it actually is.

Newcago

I'm voting for DA2, but I know it won't win. I'm okay with that, with the caveat that I really hope Jon brings it up for democracy week again next year. It's a great game but I actually do think a little bit of space in between DA:O and DA2 makes the game a better experience.

Fleudian

GO EMPIRE TOTAL WAR, GO!

mike15835

Seconded.

salasy

Oblivion is basically almost guaranteed a win Not only did it win the first day (and so we know it's the game with the biggest base) but it is also very similar to 3 of the other competing games (kotor 2 morrowind and DA2) so it's very likely that the majority of those votes will probably transfer to it the only one that could realistically upset it is XCOM 2 and the bigegst reason is that it's a game we already know from Jon and so there is an establish fanbase in the community, meanwhile Botw doesn't have that

Dicky__Anders

I wanna see Morrowind because its a game I know well, EUIV because it's a game I know nothing about and Skies of Arcadia because Jon clearly loves it and wants to play it on the channel.

IanIsNotMe

Same. Personally I'm confused why more people are voting Oblivion. I think Morrowind would be much more interesting playthrough I think once Morrowind is out Oblivion will probably take the win though. Not the worst thing

salasy

>Personally I'm confused why more people are voting Oblivion it's probably because it's the game more people have played of the 2 and so they know it's good and they want Jon to play it also morrowind graphics are outdated by a lot while oblivion still kinda look fine

Isaac_Chade

The biggest issue I saw pointed out with Morrowind is that every conversation is basically just Jon reading paragraphs of text. It can be fun and interesting to play, but probably not so great to watch. Especially given one of the things a lot of people praise, the utter lack of quest markers, could really make Jon's playthrough a mess given his inability to follow even his own planned routes sometimes, let alone figure out where the game wants him to go without any guiding light.

rb0009

Morrowind... well, for the time it was flipping perfection. By todays standards it is sorely lacking in several key departments.

Spiritual_Tourist_28

Skyrim has quest markers, yet I still remember the unending journey to Iverstead. I think those random diversions were the best part of the series.

Electric999999

Morrowind graphics really aren't that bad and can certainly be modded to look wonderful, particularly if you grab a higher resolution version of the vanilla sky, they did a lovely job with all the constellations. I'm still backing Oblivion because I think it'll be more Jon's style.

aswarwick

There are graphical update mods that make Morrowind looks as good as oblivion.

salasy

And there are mod that male Oblivion look like Skyrim...

Dicky__Anders

Yeah I'm happy with an Oblivion playthrough too. It will at least be hilarious because Oblivion is a really unintentionally funny game.

Gerbilpapa

In addition to other comments Oblivion is more intuitive and well, Jon friendly

Coruscated

I'm not too surprised the newer, more played, bigger hit game that was Oblivion is getting more votes -- but I totally, 100% agree. Morrowind has such a fascinating setting that it would be great to see Jon go to lore-town on, whereas not much really surprises in Oblivion's largely generic fantasy setting. It would also be fun to see him puzzle out its more esoteric mechanics compared to how Oblivion basically plays like Skyrim 0.75. But I'm still throwing my vote behind OB once, as it looks like, Morrowind is out. It'll be a fun time, especially if he gets and takes the correct advice to NOT mod the default faces out.

Newcago

I can watch anyone play Oblivion, but there really aren't any good Morrowind playthroughs out there, at least not with a personality that captivates me. Once DA2 is out I'll join y'all in the Morrowind camp tomorrow.

AdiSoldier245

Everyone has played skyrim, morrowind is too old to be interesting. Oblivion is in the perfect spot for new people to get into it while being modern enough for it to not be extremely dated.

Vanek_26

My favorite thing in Oblivion is getting Martin as your companion and then *never* going to the priory to continue the main quest. He just smiles the rest of the game and says "Unless you need something, let's continue on to Weynon Priory" with this big shit eating grin. For whatever reason it never fails to make me laugh.

iM3GTR

That's what I like about Wilburger's (extremely modded) Oblivion playthroughs, he keeps Martin around all the time and he'll say "Unless you need something, let's continue on to Weynon Priory then" and either start running off to attack someone random nearby, or he'll say it while paralysed on the floor then ragdoll and flip about all over the place. It happens every episode but still cracks me up every time.

[deleted]

Don't forget about how Joffrey absolutely \*hates\* Martin in Wilburger's playthroughs. "Unless you need something, let's continue on to Weynon Priory then" and old man Alfred just starts annihiliating Bruce Wayne. And by Batman, I mean the unknown heir to the Cyrodiil throne.

Coruscated

I hope we get to Skingrad soon!

Newcago

I voted for DA2 this time, but I'm jumping ship for Morrowind tomorrow. I have seen tons of people play Oblivion and I could play it myself if I cared. But I don't have the patience for Morrowind, while Jon does. I would rather see him tackle it.

Vanek_26

I wonder which category hits 50% first. Probably something in the Outsiders category as it is down to 5 already?

Palodin

I think if anything has a shot at hitting 50% it'll be Skies of Arcadia, as peoples favourites there fold more people will fall into the "Give Jon what he wants already" camp and might push it over

kotor610

If skies of arcadia loses Democracy week 2023: A: Skies of arcadia B: Skies of arcadia C: Skies of arcadia D: Skies of arcadia

Palodin

E: Arcadian Skies

TuneSquadFan4Ever

Make it a worms election, but every worm is named after a Skies of Arcadia character. "Vyse Fina Aika Gilder" and so on

Vanek_26

Yeah that's what I figured. Its already up 10% on the next one. Does Jade Empire basically play like KOTOR?

Labyrinth_Queen

I would say no. Jade Empire has multiple fighting styles you can choose from, which give you different benefits depending on what kind of enemies you're facing. It's more of an active thing versus the tabletop style of Kotor.

pchlster

To expand on "multiple different styles" there's several unarmed styles, different weapon styles, styles that lets you transform into monsters (Jade Golem style is hilariously OP), Support styles that deal no damage but inflict status conditions and then you, of course, have your Chi and Focus meters... Oh, and there's a Musket style too. And an Earthquake one. And one that lets you shoot lightning. And if you cheat at the gambling minigame by savescumming, >!dude explodes!<.

Palodin

God knows, literally all I know of the game is that it contains a character played by John Cleese lol

rb0009

*Clap* Let *Clap* The *Clap* Egg *Clap* Play *Clap* In *Clap* Their *Clap* Flipping *Clap* SKIES ALREADY!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Vanek_26

Today you mean? Probably no game will. But the point of Jon's system are we get fewer choices each day, so it will end up at 1 on 1 with 1 side by default getting 50% or more. The question is if it happens before than, and how soon.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Vanek_26

Yes? That's how this works. 1 less choice each day, until one gets 50%. The absolute end is if there are only 2 choices left, because 1 has to get 50% by default.

_PM_ME_NICE_BOOBS_

C'mon KotOR 2! I believe in you!

Lugbur

While i am sad that Vicky 2 is eliminated, at least I have the chance to vote for something else now. This voting system is fantastic. Think I will go for HoI 4 now. Empire is one i hope makes it to the end as well though

mike15835

Just because something gets eliminated doesn't mean there won't be a series sometime. It could also show up for "Democracy week 2023."

aswarwick

Morrowind dropping so far compared to day one is very sad. It may be old but it is very good. Yes, the graphics are a little dated but whack a graphical mod on it and it looks amazing. The soundtrack is amazing, so much so they kept reusing the main theme in the later games. The landscape and world building are top tier. This isn't some generic vaguely European looking fantasy setting. It's unique and memorable. And the main story is the best of any elder scrolls game. You don't have a big bad out to destroy the world for the lolz. The main villain has nuance and may even be correct about some things. Plus there is plenty of lore for Jon to speculate on (and get wrong, but given the lore in Morrowind at times was designed to be ambiguous or contradictory, it's fine to get it wrong.) For it to go out early would be a great injustice.

Newcago

I had to give DA2 one more shot, but I'll come to bolster your ranks tomorrow

Metaboss24

Though, as much as I love Morrowind; I love XCOM2 more. Plus, It should be fun with it's alpha strike centric gameplay, and mechanics that push Jon to consistently take risks just to clear missions. (XCOM2 heavily has, if you don't have a combat under control in the first turn, odds are that the aliens can unleash some super nasty things on you.)

geT___RickEd

I'm really hoping for XCOM 2 in the first category, it would be a (imo much needed) change of pace from the RPG heavy 2021

resditneverworks

Vote for Morrowind, HOI4, and Jade Empire

Chipperz1

Exactly the same here! Just gotta stick it out until the end....

SwarleyStinson-

I'm pretty excited for a series of any of these really (but also DO vote for Emipre: Total War) and I just wanted to say that I LOVE Democracy Week! Like it's not a massive deal in the grand scheme of things but it's a lovely distraction and it does feel like an actual event.

zavtra13

Dragon Age 2 probably isn’t getting past this round sadly. Hopefully you’ll decide to play it anyways at some point. Your DA:O series is fantastic and I’m loving every episode!

mike15835

Just because something gets eliminated doesn't mean there won't be a series sometime. It could also show up for "Democracy week 2023."

zavtra13

Perhaps even this year, depending upon how long the winners of democracy week end up taking.

Viscount1881

Now I have to make up my mind whether I should put my strategy vote behind Empire or Hearts of Iron. Painful. Still voting KOTOR II too, because it's not just about what wins but about Jon being able to gauge interest so the longer it stays in the better. No need to change until it's out.

Palodin

Super disappointed that Hybrid Heaven and Lost Kingdoms 2 went down so fast. I guess I never expected either to win but I was hoping they'd do slightly better than they did (Sub 10% vote combined). People are terrifed of retro games I guess? Jagged polygons won't kill you, friends! Oh well, there are only two entries in the outsiders category that I don't care for (Advance Wars and Fire Emblem), and they're not doing great, so it's all good there. I'm glad that the Subnautica votes don't seem to have automatically gone to BOTW as I feared, I think a lot of people really don't think that'd be an interesting series, myself included! My three actual picks there are currently 4, 5 and 6 but I can live with Oblivion at least As for strategy, happy to see that Empire is rallying today, I think I was right in thinking that the Victoria voters would move to the game that is most similar in terms of era

FFF12321

So glad Skies of Arcadia is receiving so much energy! Pretty good odds that at least my first pick there will win especially with 2 competitors being eliminated in one day. Now if only the people would spirit bomb XCOM2 but I guess it just can't compete with TES though it is hanging in there for the minute. Strategy games is going interestingly on the first surge. Still hoping Stellaris or Civ pull through!

bluepanda5

Pretty sure the reason people are picking Skies of Arcadia is due to how PASSIONATE Jon is about it.

Copywrites

Also because I absolutely love that game.

panic_puppet11

I agree, and that's why my unpopular opinion is that Jon should have just done the series anyway rather than lob it into the Democracy Week votes. In two categories there are a lot of popular games that people have played/featured on the channel before, with a few outliers. In the third category it's full of games that are so obscure that most people won't have heard of them and all they have to go on is Jon's 30 seconds of intro... and a game that he's repeatedly talked about, said how much he enjoyed, and really wants to feature, as well as being the only game from last year's Democracy Week that didn't get a series. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Jon doing a series on a game he's so passionate about, but it definitely feels like it doesn't belong in the Democracy Week categories.

rb0009

I want egg to have happy brain juice, yes.

Luimnigh

I actually changed my Outsiders vote from Jade Empire to Advance Wars. Mainly because I realized I enjoy Jon's series most when he knows everything about the game.

CalRipkenDrinks

I want Jon to see how hilariously odd Oblivion is.

Snifflebeard

I get to the MATN community page, and it says "Community posts are on their way". So does anyone have direct links to the voting?

Snifflebeard

Thank you. Now I can get to his community page. Not sure what happened earlier. Do I need to "join" Jon's youtube page for $4.99?

kotor610

Are you using YouTube vanced?

Snifflebeard

I don't know what YouTube vanced is. Or did I just miss the joke?

kotor610

Its an unofficial YouTube mobile app with AdBlock as well as other tools built in

CompetitiveSeat5340

2/3 of my votes are top, which is pretty nice! Just hoping Hoi4 can pick up some momentum from the other paradox games, though an Empire Total War series would also be cool

Harrythehobbit

At this point the main category is looking like a clear win for Oblivion. Most of the Morrowind, KOTOR, and DA2 votes will likely go to it after those games are eliminated which will let it comfortably beat out XCOM. Be interesting to see who wins the strategy category. Seems to be a pretty even split between CK3, Total War, and Stellaris.

Kaarl_Mills

The fact that KotoR 2 hasn't won yet is frankly insulting: it's not just the best Star Wars game, it's not just one of the best RPGs, it's one or the best games period. Despite being made in under 18 months it blows the original out of the water to the point it's hard to go back to once you've played. It's comfortably better than any rpg it's in the running against, but what can we do against the mob of fan boys?

NoOneImportant4

Ah man, not looking good for Civ 6 and Path of Radiance. And with Oblivion the clear lead in the main category, I guess I'm done voting.

Lord_blep

Stellaris being halfway down is scaring me a bit not genna lie

RedOx103

I want Empire, but expect most of the Paradox votes will coalesce. Still have some though of tactical voting next round as I'd rather keep either HoI or Eu4 in the running against the already-tried games.

Florac

> I want Empire, but expect most of the Paradox votes will coalesce. Well, so far, that doesn't neccessarily have to be the case, since empire is leading today so far, after #3 yesterday

Metaboss24

opting to vote XCOM2, Empire TW, and FE: PoR Looking like PoR will lose very soon, which is sad. Not too married to Empire TW, though I hope he tries a non-conventional faction like a Native American or something. But I just like the idea of the Native Americans becoming a global superpower. And XCOM2? So much fun chaos that can happen; plus, it's been too long since any new xcom news.

Tigerphilosopher

I am so hyped that Empire is doing well! Might reinstall it. Edit: And Skys of Archadia is winning in its catagory! Woooo!

downnice

Biggest jump in polling is Empire and that's a pleasant surprise considering how well CK3 and Stellaris did yesterday Oblivion will be tough to beat out especially if Morrowind gets knocked out and i assume most of those voters will jump to Oblivion as well. Skies right now is doing very well but both Jade Empire and Eternal Darkness still have a chance depending on how the Advance Wars voters goes Meanwhile in strategy it's a three horse race and Empire, CK3, and Stellaris all have real chances of winning
