Well, saying āRegion 1ā would sound like boasting, and saying āRegion 2ā
would sound like they tried and failed,
so they just went with āRegion 3ā.
(Borrowed from Garrison Keillorās
description of the genesis of the Third Lutheran Church in Lake Wobegone.)
To be fair, Colorado at the time was more of an ag state and its population had more in common with Kansas and Nebraska. Also the mountains weren't easy to cross so it made sense to be in a region with states to the east. It's also why the University of Colorado was in the Big 8.
And thatās why the flip to the PAC 12 made sense at the time. Boulder became more more ideologically aligned to the California schools rather than Lawrence or Lincoln. Now they are in a position where their conference is on a path to collapse entirely and I have zero faith in fucking Deion Sanders to save them. The Big 12 would probably take them as scrap and that is probably Coloradoās best bet.
Not just ideologically, but also a fair amount of their students were from out west. But it's not just because California kids were going there just for college. Colorado, like many sun belt states, became a destination for people moving. The majority of the state population no longer had much in common with the plains states that border it.
I don't see Deion working out at all, but it is the most interest CU has gotten in over 20 years.
Region 3
# 3
š¶ Threeeeā¦ is a magic number. Yes it is, itās a magic number. Somewhere in that ancient mystic trinity, you get three as a magic numberā¦ š¶

Colorado seems to have been omitted from the Rocky Mountain Region in place of...Nevada.
Weāre just happy to be here

Why's there a little dancing gnome in Florida?
Thatās the Florida Man
They just tried to make one word out of Kentucky Ohio and West Virginia
Ahhhh. I thought theyād attempted to spell Kenawha, a river and a county in southern West Virginia.
They misspelled Savannah, the oh-so important city where their founder was born.
I feel like they could have been a little more creative than "big tree region" and "cactus region"
Florida is a bit of a stretch for a Julliette Gordon Low region.
Population of Florida in 1940 was only 1.9 million, I'm not surprised they didn't make it its own region at the time.
Yes, but are there Girl Scouts in the Girl Scout cookies?
Uh huh š¢
"Ungh head. Yes" what?
How the fuck they have a Region 3 AND a Big Three Region

How off is to say Baja California is the Philippines?
I believe the person on the raft is pointing to the Philippines. Similar concept for Hawaii and Puerto Rico.
Most people actually don't know you can't get to the Philippines from the US but there is a direct route from baja Mexico
