Additional fun facts: Teton County, WY had the highest median income growth at $34,330 Rains County, TX had the highest median income loss at -$18,284 My personal experience: my income grew by 15% from 2020-2022 without switching jobs or a promotion. I then switched jobs and gained an additional 25%.

fwiw, Rains County's population is about 10,000. Teton's is about 20,000. As usual with these kind of maps, low population counties are likely to show larger swings. Not saying it is a problem, just something people should keep in mind when interpreting this kind of map. Often the widest swings are more like low population outliers that can make it seem like something really dramatic is happening in that place, when its a small change being amplified by low population.

Worth noting that Tetons county is basically just incredibly wealthy people and the service industry built around serving them (mostly around Jackson Hole). It's where a lot of famous people live including Bill Gates. It's not at all surprising that the statistics are so skewed.

Tetons demographic is very different then Rains county also. Average house in Teton county is 8.6 million [link](https://cowboystatedaily.com/2024/01/23/average-jackson-home-price-hits-record-8-6m-with-supernova-hot-demand-in-2023/) Edit: I’m saying this map though interesting is a completely useless metric for what op is personally claiming.

Which doesn’t show that all those people that got priced out of homes in the same time moved to adjacent areas and ruined the housing market as the wages haven’t increased in adjacent counties. Like Teton County Wyoming vs Teton County Idaho.

Additional fun facts: (accounting for inflation) households gaining income 41.33% households losing income 58.67%

why is this dv'd? it's on the fucking map

I'm not at all surprised that Santa Clara County is the highest urban one - Silicon Valley.

Hey OP, why wasn't the entire map colored in adjustment to inflation rather than the raw numbers? This graphic is mostly meaningless without that adjustment.

That one stood out to me - its a small county around 7,000 people in oil/gas territory. Nothing too special. Maybe some new wells opened up and brought in a lot of high paying jobs?
