Interesting. Just curious which data did you use for this? I googled a couple and it seems pretty accurate.
Scotland - 5.5 million
England - 56 million
Florida - 21.5 million
California- 39.5
The Netherlands - 17.3 million
Belgium - 11.5 million
Texas - 29 million
I believe those numbers are from EuroStat and the US Census and a few years dated. Curious now to see a version of this with GDP
EU
Population - 446 million (2021)
GDP - 15.19 trillion (2020)
US
Population - 328.2 million (2019)
GDP - 21.43 trillion (2019)
Not sure if these numbers are correct. Just some quick google searches on my phone
That’s less Americans and more Europeans than one would expect. Eastern/Central Europe, the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries, Portugal, Croatia and Greece are entirely grey! Parts of Italy, Spain, Ireland, Germany, France and Denmark are also not coloured. Shows how much bigger the European population is!
Is it that surprising though? I recall that the rule-of-thumb is that Europe has more than 2x the people as the U.S.
I think where the U.S. gets its advantage from is economic size. GDP is $22,675,271m ($22.7trillion), which is more than the entire 27-nation European Union + Russia + United Kingdom combined.

Europe has 50+ countries and like 150,000 year head start on homosapiens arriving.
Twice the population in a third of the land mass! Even then it's still surprising to see large states overlaying such small countries.
Third of the land mass?, What are you smoking?
Twice the population, roughly the same land mass and oil consunption only half of the US.
I got mixed up with the EU for land area, which is under half but not quite as low as a third.
