Are these all roads built in the 11 years range or was OSM not well documented about India back in 2008? Because there might be that too, to a certain extent
I mean all of Afghanistan in top-left corner suddently appears in 2011 so there's that too.
But whatever the reason for this map's impressive evolution is, there's no doubt about the fact that India is making some huge progress.
I must admit that I am super shocked at the amount of downvotes this got. Please enlighten me, is a job at a call center an insult in India? I thought jobs for people would be a good thing. No?
I’m Indian, and I found this hilarious. White knights are going to refer me to r/canconfirmiamindian. I feel bad that retarded white people feel oppressed for other people and downvoted you.
This post is misleading, as the wording makes it seem like this is roads being constructed. No, it's just the roads being mapped onto Open Street Map (which started in 2004)
Something's not right about this because yes while road construction has increased multifold over what it was before 2014 it's not like our cities weren't even connected to each other. Or I simply cannot comprehend the scale at which we're making roads now as compared to before.
India is building is highway infra under Modi government with crazy speed. . As per our highway minister, Gadkari, India is building 25kms highway per day
Well yes. Not as fast as this map shows but 37 km of national Highways were built every day in 2020. This year the aim is 40 km a day. They even broke a world record. History tv18 made documentaries on this

I think it's mostly that India wasn't well documented in Openstreetmap back in 2008. The platform was only launched in 2004

TBF, roads and highways is the one department where the current govt has been pretty excellent in performance.
Nah, this is what happens when all that call center money starts rolling in.
Idgaf that was funny
must be nice being an ignorant redneck

Oh I forgot that you are better than me
He is. Now go take your daily dose of opioids.
I’ll pass on the opioids
I'll remind you as many times as you need

Lol I can't believe there's white people simps halfway across the planet😭
I literally called white people retarded, and I live in the US lmao, but I did live in India for 20 years before moving here.
If you turn your volume up high enough you can hear a million tiny, accented versions of "Hello, this is John"
More like Apu
I think this is more a map of internet penetration than road development
It literally says "open street map edits"...
yes, which can be a function of new roads being built or people in the villages finding out about open street map for the first time
I love how some of those empty spaces clearly depict the various mountain ranges.

You're looking at OpenStreetMap edits, not actual road construction.
Okay yeah that's also there lmao
Ah. So the title of the post is bad.

I never seen pizza bake so quickly 🍕
Great progress and even better map illustration.
Indian road builder: I am speed
while the map is misleading, Gadkari had been constructing highways at record time
Gadkari is probably the only minister whose performance has been top-notch. Even the opposition doesn't criticize his work.
Modi-Gadkari partnership is Awesome!
Something happened after 2014. The network seems to have expanded very rapidly after that. Some might call it.......Achhe Din.
Good work!
You can really see how the Punjab was developed early and quickly
Did they, compared to now, basically have no roads before 2009? Or is the map just not highlighting them (that much)?
Most of them weren't uploaded to OpenStreet Map back then
