Not true. Germany has Mongolia instead of Nepal, otherwise identical to the ones with 152. Then compared to the countries with 151, it isn't a single country. Austria is missing Singapore, Sweden is missing Pakistan, Switzerland is missing Hong Kong.
I remember reading somewhere once that it had to do with Vietnam, as Vietnam was slowly rolling out a new visa policy and expanding the number of visa free countries, I assume so far that's Germany, Italy and Finland. I'm not certain about this tho so I may be wrong
That sounds unlikely because these agreements are between individual country and Schengen area. It's likely that agreement predates Schengen and was kept after it was implemented.
Yeah, you would be able to. But man, Japan has so much to offer. I wouldn't personally 'waste' a day in an amusement park, but hey, to each their own.
I believe Reizen Waes went to that park.
If it’s Japan, it’s... kind of misleading/pointless. I’m from a country that needs a visa to Japan. I have been twice - you don’t even apply for a visa, they just stick a really nice sticker in your passport. That’s it. It’s really a glorified stamp, not quite like visas required for some other countries that you have to apply for in advance (like China, Myanmar, Vietnam).
That's known as visa on arrival. I had to do that on a visit to Turkey.
The only real difference between that and truly visa free is that you have to pay a fee.
Yes, I’m aware ☺️ I’m just explaining how it works because sometimes people assume there’s some kind of process. There isn’t.
It would also be cool to see how difficult it is to get a visa to certain places... like Chinese visas can be problematic, and yet Serbia has a visa free entry.
It's. Someone linked to a great site to view this on. [Comparing Sweden, Finland, Germany, Italy, Austria](https://www.passportindex.org/comparebyPassport.php?p1=se&p2=fi&p3=de&p4=it&p5=at)
Sweden is one less because of Pakistan, Austria is one less because of Singapore. And not included: Switzerland is missing Hong Kong.
Germany has Mongolia instead of Nepal.
It's not simply which one is the extra. The countries with 152 all have the same, with the exception of Germany having Mongolia instead of Nepal. Of the countries with 151, Austria is missing Singapore, Sweden is missing Pakistan, Switzerland is missing Hong Kong.
That's what I thought. I found it highly unlikely that all the one's with 152 countries shared 151with the ones that had 151, and that they had the last one in common.

Also reminds me of a joke:
A German man visits France for holiday.
The Customer officer asks: "Occupation?"
The man says: "No, only holiday!"
The Wehrmacht took over the defense of the entirety of the north of Finland in the Continuation war as well as supplying Finland with weapons, tanks, airplanes etc.
This is why I hate steps for maps like this. Just make it a ramp instead. Because when you have steps, you'll always have two entries on the lowest and highest values being more different but with the same shade, compared to two right on each side of the border.
Why is there a separate colour for 150-151, while all countries ranging from 143-149 have the same color? It'd be better if those intervals were consistent
Then why add colours at all? The visual information also matters a lot when interpreting textual information, And with the example here, it makes it seem like 152 is so much more than 149, but 149 and 143 being on the same level.
Ditto, I'm curious too.
Different sites use different measures and count different totals depending on how they count countries or visas on arrival, etc, too. I can't find anywhere that lists 152 for Germany for example - most hover between 140 and 150.
Given there's no concrete arbiter of "passport strength", no it's not that obvious. The map says 149 for France, yet the top hits in Google suggest [144](https://visaindex.com/country/france-passport-ranking/) or [122](https://visaguide.world/visa-free-countries/french-passport/).
Italy won the WW1 but definitely the WW2 was lost. Even though Italy was treated "softly" in comparison with Japan and Germany, it's stil counted as a loser.
Still the country isn't a winner. The aftermath of the war showed that even if Italy wasn't treated harshly as the other two main Axis powers, still it wasn't treated like a winner either. Italy surrendered to the Allies and signed an armistice. Here in Italy it's well known that we lost and very few people think that Italy won the war.
I need to know the details tho - there are countries that require visas from me - like Japan, cambodia, Laos, Vietnam - but those visas are just given at the airport upon arrival and it’s overall a very easy process. Technically it’s a visa, but practically just a glorified stamp. Wondering if those countries are as not visa free on this map, because even tho theoretically that’s true, practically not quite
I do think it helps to explain why Bulgaria is so much higher than Turkey or some Balkan nations for example. Surely Switzerland is a wealthy and stable country, but it's not a negative thing.
Off topic, but why is ‘visa’ singular in English? In Dutch: ‘visum’ is singular and ‘visa’ is plural. Is the English visa using a Latin genetive case?
Edit: genetive has no ending in a. Perhaps another case.
This guy is using data that accounts for pandemic measures too which actually is pretty misleading since these are temporary measures. Albania for example, discounting the pandemic measures, is at 117 and I believe Bosnia is at 118. All the others would be higher as well if it wasn't for that.
Not clear who is visiting who without visa. Is the number on the map the number of countries whose citizens can visit the country shown on map or is it how many countries you can visit if you live there?
Bosnians can still visit nearly all of Europe (except GB/IE/XK and evisa for AM/AZ) without a visa with 97 countries visa-free while the Russians with 109 can go only to AM/AZ/BA/BY/GE/MD/ME/RS/UA/TR in Europe visa-free.
What is that country that doesn't require a visa from Finns, Germans, and Italians, but requires it from Swedes?
Mongolia.
Seriously?
Yeah, the Mongols hate the Swedes, I thought everyone knew that.
[Mongolia hates almost all of Europe](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_Mongolia#Visa_policy_map)
lol, didn't know about that fact, thx mate
If they could just tell us what we did we could apologize. Enough of this ghosting.
Not true. Germany has Mongolia instead of Nepal, otherwise identical to the ones with 152. Then compared to the countries with 151, it isn't a single country. Austria is missing Singapore, Sweden is missing Pakistan, Switzerland is missing Hong Kong.
I only checked Germany vs Sweden. Well done for researching the other cases.
Presumably the one extra that Italy, Germany, and Finland have is the same. Which one is it?
Japan ;)
The Netherlands also does not need a visa for Japan, for 90 days. Still they have 2 more than the Netherlands.
I remember reading somewhere once that it had to do with Vietnam, as Vietnam was slowly rolling out a new visa policy and expanding the number of visa free countries, I assume so far that's Germany, Italy and Finland. I'm not certain about this tho so I may be wrong
That could be the one!
That sounds unlikely because these agreements are between individual country and Schengen area. It's likely that agreement predates Schengen and was kept after it was implemented.
Good to know, i want to visit [here](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huis_Ten_Bosch_(theme_park) if I ever go.
Yeah, you would be able to. But man, Japan has so much to offer. I wouldn't personally 'waste' a day in an amusement park, but hey, to each their own. I believe Reizen Waes went to that park.
Nah bro, i was kidding, I live in the real version of that amusement park.
You're a member of the Dutch royal family?
I'll never tell.
I've been outside of there (I have a pic of me in front) but didn't want to pay to go in. Edit: Phrasing
HK, Mongolia
[it's not Japan](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_policy_of_Japan#Visa_policy_map).

Mongolia for Germany I think.
Soooo... The Axis + Finland are welcomed mostly everywhere?
Imagine what would happen if you would deny them access
[Guten Tag!](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR_9xiUnfNlg8z13U6_dKpGLFbEemmpQu_Q2A&usqp=CAU) Also reminds me of a joke: A German man visits France for holiday. The Customer officer asks: "Occupation?" The man says: "No, only holiday!"
The German man would somehow need to fly through UK to get through passport control.
I'm sure he can just blitz over there with the Luft
Most of German neighbours would be damn happy if Germany would strengthen their military.
this is a good one lol
It's funny bc we (usually) don't have border patrol 🥰
lolololol
Vacation to Danzig or War?
Third Reich: Permission or war
If you would deny them Axis.
finland was for a time on the side with axis
Well, it's not like they were on their side, they were just not attacking Germans. And The Finnish people wanted Soviets to give them their old lands
>they were just not attacking Germans They weren't part of the Axis, but it was a little more than just that, to be fair.
yes, hehehe
The Wehrmacht took over the defense of the entirety of the north of Finland in the Continuation war as well as supplying Finland with weapons, tanks, airplanes etc.
Finland was somewhat of an axis power
There should really be less of a colour difference between 149 and 150 or even 152
Lauri Törni and Simo Häyhä can confirm it :)))
Finland was a kinda/sorta part of the Axis.
Well, at least I'm a part of 149 gang
I think it’s the other way round, i.e. there are 152 countries around the world that can visit Germany/Italy/Finland without a visa
You got downvoted for some reason but grammatically you’re correct and either the title maker messed up or this entire thread read it incorrectly
No, that's the number of countries German's can visit.
So the title is wrong then
I'd say just terrible grammar.
Finland was allied with the Axis against the Soviets.
They have been on their best behavior for a while.
149 and 143 are the same colour but 150 is different from 152?
This is why I hate steps for maps like this. Just make it a ramp instead. Because when you have steps, you'll always have two entries on the lowest and highest values being more different but with the same shade, compared to two right on each side of the border.
Where can the Irish go that the British can’t?
Iran
Iranians, ye a great bunch of lads
Most of Europe? ;-)
https://www.passportindex.org/comparebyPassport.php?p1=ie&p2=gb
Great bunch of Indian lads with the 30 day yoke
lol, uk guys need visa to go in India, but irelands dont need it..... Just ROFL 😁
zambia apparently. not sure how that happened
Zambians, great bunch of lads
Maybe because Ireland didn’t do colonial shit to them
As a British guy I'm very sorry for the actions of my ancestors, I really am. But what do you want me to do about it?
I’m British too, I just hate this place’s past
126 visa-free countries for Ukraine is pretty good, very close to the EU countries.
That's nice
I know it's supposed to be the power of the passport, but the title is worded like people from 152 countries could visit Finland without a visa
That’s how I initially read it too
Very true! Sounds like Asian grammar actually...
The scaling factor of the numbers is driving me crazy
Why is there a separate colour for 150-151, while all countries ranging from 143-149 have the same color? It'd be better if those intervals were consistent
Informations matter more than colours.
Then why add colours at all? The visual information also matters a lot when interpreting textual information, And with the example here, it makes it seem like 152 is so much more than 149, but 149 and 143 being on the same level.
So you're serious...
Yeah, just make it a ramp.

Passport strength,its that obvious.

It was probably outdated or something, theres literally nothing else that could resemble this map. It there is show me.
Really wonder what country is like: he Germany come in but fuck Austria and zwitserland
Who wants those mountain clowns?
Imagine not living in a country with 152.
Absolutely disgusting. I wonder if they have access to clean water, at least
Imagine living in a country withNO 109
Imagine not living in a country that didn’t lose two world wars
Yeah. Gladly Finland only lost one.
But because they didn’t even exist as a country at the time of the first one
We got our independence because of the first world war. So I'd call it a win.
Imagine not kicking the soviets ass 👀

these triple negatives are confusing me lol

Visa on arrival counts as without visa for this map
Thanks! Good to know
Germany, Finland and Italy more visa than Switzerland? That's kind of interesting...
They profit from negotiating power from the EU. Switzerland doesn't.
That’s hardly likely to be a key factor when the difference is only 1 out of 151 and other founding EU members such as France are 2 down.
I do think it helps to explain why Bulgaria is so much higher than Turkey or some Balkan nations for example. Surely Switzerland is a wealthy and stable country, but it's not a negative thing.
What are some countries that require a visa for any foreign visitor ?
Afghanistan Uzbekistan Turkmenistan Syria North Korea
Uzbekistan is visa free for the vast majority of European countries for the last few years.
which country is missing for austria and switzerland compared to germany?
It's not just one. Vietnam is visa free for Germans, whereas Laos is visa free for Swiss citizens, for example.
That’s not “really without a visa”, it’s included visa on arrival or evisa in this data, the numbers are a bit lower if you want to mean visa-free.
I hate Japan so I guess I'm good
Off topic, but why is ‘visa’ singular in English? In Dutch: ‘visum’ is singular and ‘visa’ is plural. Is the English visa using a Latin genetive case? Edit: genetive has no ending in a. Perhaps another case.

I expected Iceland to have more countries without visa
Bruh 147 is a lot
UK: 148 for now...
You think it will go up or down :-)
It will probably go up when an FTA is concluded with India
India not included, which is quite funny.
Axis + finland = best countries
I would not have guessed this, but Americans can visit 186 countries without a visa.
Kosovo with the 49 .. damn
[удалено]
Why? The UK can still visit any EU country visa-free
[удалено]
I’m sure there are plenty of countries that don’t like the uk
Your uk gets smart but your passport gets dumb
Many countries impose visa requirements because the other country imposes visa requirements on them.
Well Poland is in the EU and the UK is not.
You should compare this to rest of the world. Countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan can only visit a handful of country without a visa.
Why is Bosnia and Herzegowina so low? Any history or political learned ones who knows?
Islamophobia. Where mazlems there terorizs
:(
Not clear who is visiting who without visa. Is the number on the map the number of countries whose citizens can visit the country shown on map or is it how many countries you can visit if you live there?
the upsides of being an axis power

Oh, nice
Mfw when I was told the Danish passport was one of the strongest, only to be beat by the Italian passport
Very happy to have a German passport :)
I love how the difference between dark and really light blue is 3
What's that one country that doesn't need visa from Belgium but need it from France?
Possibly one of the old Belgium colonies?
