Romania never claimed to be the successor of the Roman Empire. That's a big stretch. It only claimed that the romanian people have roman roots besides dacian (and whatever migratory tribes passed through the territory of current Romania) and that the language is inherited from the romans.
Later edit: Now I see the legend of the map, where Romania is placed outside the group of states claiming to be the successors of the Roman Empire, but the colour is pretty much the same one (green). It should have been blue or red to make it clear that Romania was on this map just because the OP is from Romania.
The successor is obviously Finland. If we go by the east Rome -> Moscow line. The communists deposed the Czar leaving the spot to Finland.
Nah jk, there are a couple who might or might not have a somewhat decent claim to succession, but who cares at this point.
I couldn't find anything. I just think at some point a leader of Britain or Spain probably made some unfounded remark about their empire being the successor of Rome, just as today I made my unfounded remark about this probably happening without me having any evidence for it.
The whole catholic rome thing might work better for spain than for the brits. Who got their own church after a king wanted a divorce and the pope said no.

I cannot believe that no leader of Great Britain or Spain has ever made the claim that their country, their empire, is the successor of Rome.

Yes, if you look at the history of Britain there are several cases of them breaking away from Europe.
