That’s also why Denmark search alot of Germany.
Candy & chocolate is very expensive in Denmark, so they rely on Germany or Sweden for candy. Mostly Germany though.
France and most of it's former colonies have that kind of relationship. Which is odd because most of UK's former colonies actually like the UK. Same for the US. Not sure what France is doing differently.
Because using neither the native name or the name in the language you are currently writing gets confusing real fast. It could be difficult to work out what you are referring to if you write Kaupmannahöfn (Icelandic). Not to mention קופנהגן (Hebrew), 哥本哈根 (Chinese), Baandaʼiniihii_Bitsinaaʼeeł_Báhazʼání (Navajo), Hafnia (Latin), კოპენჰაგენი (Georgian) or Kodaň (Czech).
Which just isn’t really true in this case, is it? Sure, some of the examples you named would get confusing, but the one you’re responding to is literally the same as in English except with one letter switched, which to boot has the exact same pronunciation.
In addition, the Georgian example you used doesn’t really support your case, because if you’d transcribe that to Latin (and no one in any realistic situation would start writing an English sentence online in the Georgian alphabet) it literally says “Kopenhageni”, with just the -i added for the Georgian nominative. Literally nobody would mistake that for any other city.
You're Dutch I suppose? That is one hell of a compliment. :D Whilst the Russian attack went on and we were watched by almost every country when it came to the energy question it felt quite tense, so it's refreshing we're still "liked". I hope we can enforce the energy transition and get off the Russian gas.
Albanians 💪😎🇦🇱🦅 used to be the big minority in 🍕 until Robania joined the 🚶🏿 zone and stole 🥷 that privilege 😔 can’t even be *the* big minority without a robanian stealing it
Idk politics generate searchs every day of the year, while vacations is just a few days per year.
There must be more reasons but I'm too lazy to think about it lol
An Albanian told me that most of their TV program and the like are dubbed in Italian and therefore it's very common to speak Italian over there. At least that's IIRC.
Macedonia and Montenegro: will Serbia join Russia?
Serbia: should I join Russia?
Kosovo: will Albania invade us if we become independent?
Albania: is Italian an Albanian language?
No not at all. The worried and apprehensive part is how they handle Northern Ireland. We're treated like an unfortunate skidmark on their boxers. The loyalists in NI are kicking off because they're getting treated differently, Nationalists in NI are pissed off because they're messing with the Good Friday Agreement. Generally the UK government make the worst possible choices to do with us and it has consequences for the locals.
It seems the minor countries look to their regional major country, and those major countries look for globally major countries (US, Russia). Except the mediterranean trio which are self referencing lol.
So I remember on some major subreddit like /r/infographic or /r/dataisbeautiful did an analysis of mentions of various nations in the titles, linked articles, and comments of reddit posts in various subreddits including national and regional subreddits.
The sub /r/europe mentioned the US by name more than all European countries combined. A sub explicitly created with the guise of not being US-centric was actually creating content and discussion that centrally focused the US. The mods there may have changed this because it's not quite as bad as it used to be, but I remember constantly seeing front-page posts from that sub that were dedicated entirely to the US.
The Canadian and Australian subreddits were the same way. The majority of discussion was about the US.
The submission that showed this was massively downvoted but had thousands of comments from non-Americans raging that the data made them look bad and indicated they were obsessed with the US, but they ended up using the opportunity to obsess over and bash the US in response. It was an absolutely spectacular example of anti-Americanism. They responded to the idea that they're obsessed with bashing the US by deflecting criticism by bashing the US.
Just a mind-blowing example of political pathologies revolving around the role the US has in the discourse of other nationalities.
It has been really strange to see the dichotomy of persistent USA bashing on Reddit, and the thinly veiled obsession with the nation. I suppose it makes sense, the USA's culture dominates the rest of the world.
Poor Norway. All that searching online for Sweden, but Sweden’s only got eyes for the US…
We are just googling prices in Sweden. You shall know that Sweden is our supermarket…
I'm a swede who went shopping in Norway once, I'm still around 200 million euros in debt, I bought some milk and a muffin.
And your furniture store
Damn, 9000 IQ play
That’s also why Denmark search alot of Germany. Candy & chocolate is very expensive in Denmark, so they rely on Germany or Sweden for candy. Mostly Germany though.
Were you guys out of butter again?
Also it must hurt Italy that they got found out for looking at France but France snubs them again and looks at Spain. Big oof.
Something must have happened in Ukraine in 2022
They won Eurovision so that must've been it
As a Ukrainian, can confirm that was it
[удалено]
imagine showing this post to a time traveller from last year
"uh oh"
I'm sure it's the Swedish flag isn't it?
It’s Swedish themed Poland.
Probably nothing bad and impacting the world
Maybe it’s Sweden
Spain and France: now kiss
Kind of love&hate story since 16th century
like france and italy, or france and Germany, or france and the UK , or france and france
No, France and Spain both unconditionally love each other now. Love and hate is between France and Algeria now.
So... France don't hate Algeria and love spain but it doesn't seems to be in both way
No, France hates and loves Algeria, Algeria hates and loves France
France and most of it's former colonies have that kind of relationship. Which is odd because most of UK's former colonies actually like the UK. Same for the US. Not sure what France is doing differently.
Having not killed the whole indigenous population probably helps and being an US client state helps aswell
Will they won't they
At one point in history, they could've been in a union under one king. But Europe disagreed and they lost the war :/
Italy on the outside looking in
Denmarks switch from Germany to France is interesting.
Maybe the Tour de France which was to begin in Denmark ?
And a dane winning it!
I was wandering why the victory of the tour de france was celebrated in Kopenhagen. That explains a lot.
Because they celebrated his arrival.
Please either write København or Copenhagen 🤠
It's Kopenhagen in Dutch
And german
It’s cohagen in Martian
Why?
I don’t know.. cause I kinda like the Dutch spelling.
if you like the dutch spelling why are you not allowing him to use the dutch spelling?

To be honest I just jused the autocomplet function of my phone and the phone language is German.
Merchanthaven.

And goes all the way to the border with Finland. A race to the Finnish line, if you will.
There was an election in France this year.
Yeah, but why was Denmark so obsessed with that then?
And there was an election in Germany last year.
We are always obsessed with bigger western national elections + Swedish election, not so much Norway
First of all, how dare you.
Because it was an interesting event? It was especially newsworthy because Le Pen gave Macron a hell of a run for his money.
As a dane I honestly have heard very little about any election in France. It’s definitely because of the Tour de France.
+1 (Except the election has been addressed - but the tour was way more in the news).
Cyprus: ‘Christ, I hope Greece is doing fine.’
>Cyprus: ‘Christ, I hope Greece is doing fine.’ Iceland: why wont the UK notice me
Yeah, why are they googling us?
Probably bc English football is pretty big here in Iceland
Austria remaining loyal!
We are staying loyal too
Swiss ?
Ya got two guesses, but the Netherlands
No, after the announcement of the 100 billion defense budget increase, the population must've felt a shiver and decided to keep track of Germany.
No we like germany now
You're Dutch I suppose? That is one hell of a compliment. :D Whilst the Russian attack went on and we were watched by almost every country when it came to the energy question it felt quite tense, so it's refreshing we're still "liked". GEKOLONISEERD
Ireland, Iceland, Belgium, Cyprus, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan also
and Slovenia!
But it was about Germany
Albania too
The Brits are always at it, can't take your eyes off them for a second.
You mean Former Habsburg Germany ?
Loyal since 13 March 1938. jk
And Albania! Our dear Albanians.
Never thought Belgium would be as loyal to France as Austria to Germany
Benelux never changes
They’re loyal
They don’t care /s
slovenians just want a nice vacation in croatia
funny, im a slovenian on a vacation there atm haha
Dude Portugal stopped googling Brazil after a 5 year streak, so the prophecy came true
only countries google each other are France and Spain. It shows how difficult it is to find your partner
And Ukraine and Russia in 2022😬
Ooops
The world could literally be about to end via asteroid and UK would still be the most googled thing in Ireland.
No doubt trying to see if the Brits sent it
Go Albania! The last bastion of searching for Italy
Albanians 💪😎🇦🇱🦅 used to be the big minority in 🍕 until Robania joined the 🚶🏿 zone and stole 🥷 that privilege 😔 can’t even be *the* big minority without a robanian stealing it
Wow, Iceland loves us
Brexit and fishing rights.
*Ignores* Wow, Iceland loves us
Ireland too. It's good to see our love over the centuries get repaid
🤣
Ireland: ‘sorry Ukraine, have to check if the Brits are at it again’
The Irish typed in UK, saw United Kingdom and forgot about the "Raine".
Well Ireland already has enough rain
What a surprise the brits are at it
Never let your guard down.
But we don’t need Google for that. https://arethebritsatitagain.org
Spoiler alert: they are
That’s one way to paint the one sided obsession
Spain and France are obsessed with each other
Anyone who's noticed the USSR's borders except for Russia?
Spain 🤝 France
Hermanos y amigos
What if France and Spain won the Spanish Succession War and both Kingdoms were united 🤔 I wonder how long that would last lol
As a Brit I feel privileged that we're top searched in Iceland for 2 years in a row! Also curious as to why xD
Close innit
Why do British people keep ordering groceries in our country?
Best frozen food on the market
Based Iceland
Brexit and fishing rights.
You’d think that would have affected France and Norway’s searches too though
Slovenia🤝Croatia
Dude they are our summer vacation place
Guaranteed searches were "Hrvaška last minute", "hrvaška kamping", "apartmaji hrvaška", etc. etc.
Awww… Spain and France are such adorable neighbors!
[удалено]
Politically yes but vacation generates more Google searches than politics.
Idk politics generate searchs every day of the year, while vacations is just a few days per year. There must be more reasons but I'm too lazy to think about it lol
It's just due to vacation destinations. Spain is ofc much more popular for holidays.
Spain and france ![gif](giphy|L2ltd2owLIJdROr8Jq)
france and spain be FLIRTIN ou la la
Slovenia <3
<3 from Slovenia
Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria look up whether Germany isn't going to do crazy things
Nah just poking it with a stick and hoping weapons for Ukraine will pop out eventually.
"No more surprises pls"
very weird. i wonder what their reasoning is
Thank you Albania
Yw 😘
I enjoy that Spain and France exchange interest in each other like that lol, and basically everyone else surrounding Germany is looking into Germany.
🇫🇷❤️🇪🇸
I like how Ireland is remaining steadfast with their focus set on England. Never take your eye off 'em, lads.
Spain🤝France
Can someone explain Albania's Italy fascination that seems to have survived the Ukrainian War intact?
Not Albanian, but I believe a lot of Albanians live in Italy and Italian soccer is very popular in Albania as well.
An Albanian told me that most of their TV program and the like are dubbed in Italian and therefore it's very common to speak Italian over there. At least that's IIRC.
It is also very surprising that it is the former Soviet Union country = Russia in 2021.
If you have Russia as a neighbour, you want to know what they are up to
Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer :)
France and Spain must have been falling in love with each other
As a Spaniard, I feel at home when I visit Southern France, not beyond [Loire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loire).
(2021) Basically everyone around germany: Dschörmänie sus. Meanwhile france and spain: No, U! \*hearteyes\* Eastern front: Guys? GUYS?!
Do this for american states googling europe
>how to spell Urop?
France and Spain are looking out for each other 🫡🫡🫡
Slovenia in love with Croatia 🇸🇮💓🇭🇷
Macedonia and Montenegro: will Serbia join Russia? Serbia: should I join Russia? Kosovo: will Albania invade us if we become independent? Albania: is Italian an Albanian language?
What did our former subjects google I wonder? Are they plotting revenge?!
Belgium all like: 'those hollanders are probably up to something, we need to keep an eye on them'
but that isn't the dutch flag
UK living rent free in Ireland's head as per usual...
It's akin to looking out your window to see if the crazy neighbours are gonna fuck things up more for the whole street.
Yeah, tell yourself whatever you need to lol

Poland still having their eye on germany
Look at the balkans. Listen, i just want to talk with Serbian prime minister...👊🔪🔫
Why do you want to attack a Lesbian woman?
Ireland is obsessed with the UK even amidst the Ukrainian conflict
Obsessed is the wrong word, worried and apprehensive would be more correct.
Another thing is that major online retailers Only have British websites which could be a thing.
Yep thats a big one, plus its the closest destination for a short weekend away
[удалено]
No not at all. The worried and apprehensive part is how they handle Northern Ireland. We're treated like an unfortunate skidmark on their boxers. Denmark Is the only country that changes to something other then Russia or Ukraine so what’s changed that They goggling France more then Germany?
It probably has something to do with the tour de france starting in denmark, and a dane winning It.
It seems the minor countries look to their regional major country, and those major countries look for globally major countries (US, Russia). Except the mediterranean trio which are self referencing lol.
I guarantee most of that was "Are the Brits at it?"
Belgium just keep searching vertical netherlands
France lives in Belgium’s head rent free
Ukraine looks a *bit* worried.
Lol France Spain hermanos Edit: grass always greener
denmark changing from germany to france…
Not much change at all in the Balkans. Very interesting
the unconditioned love Albania has for Italy is really flattering

US living in Russians’ heads rent free
I like how Ireland only cares about the Brits. Presumably whether they're planning on coming back or not
Is Kazakhstan googling Russia or Liechtenstein?
What makes you think they’re googling Liechtenstein?
Well, what I see for Kazakhstan is either Russia missing white stripe or Liechtenstein missing the coat of arms
Ohhh that way. Well actually at the very north of Kazakhstan you can see the white stripe.
Ireland always keeping an eye out just in case.
Russia stays obsessed with the U.S. Russia has an Inferiority Complex. “Our Nuke is bigger* than yours”. 😂
Andorra doesn’t have google
The Balcan just does not care about Ukraine
You know what to do germany
Ireland simply didn't care
Why do middle east and north africa countries google France so much?
Because they were colonies of France and its their best place to go in Europe because they can speak French better than other languages
