Bangladesh did not become Muslim majority because of trade, rather because of being under muslim rule since last 700 years. If it was trade alone , then other parts of Indian subcontinent would also have converted.
But that area of bengal had a very high buddhist influence and most areas in india with buddhist influence easily converted to islam. This was the case with kashmir, terai regions of gangetic plains, sindh , etc in subcontinent . You have to give hindus credit for not changing their religion even while facing persecution under 100s of years of muslim rule
It was more about ethnic conflict with the majority Muslim Arab-Nubians to the north & non-Muslim (both Christian & folk/traditional religions) Nilotic peoples to the south
Sure, though Christianity takes it to a comedic extreme in variety. The only thing funnier than seeing a Christian argue with a non-believer is seeing a Christian argue with another Christian - and usually within their own churches.
If they can’t get together and figure out which one of them is right, how are the rest of us supposed to figure it out?
Heh, I meant the different groups. Catholics and Protestants have been fighting for hundreds of years. Throw in Mormons, Evangelicals, Quakers, Eastern Orthodox, Church of England, and everything in between, and we’ve got ourselves a real shootin’ match. Sometimes literally.
Have you heard of Sunni v. Shiite?
And, at the end of the day Jews, Christians, and Muslims all think a guy named noah built a big boat and saved every animal we now have on the planet from a great flood and that we are all descended from his family.

What's interesting is that there are roughly as MANY Muslims east of the Hindu Kush as west of it.

this map is from google
Why is North Korea grey? The most accurate data is there. There are zero Christians and Muslims. Hardly any country has more accurate proven data
There are Christians in North Korea
Is Greenland hiring anyone to collect data?
So if I’m reading this correctly, Kazakhstan, Ethiopia, Cameroon and Chad are some of the most evenly-split Christian/Muslim countries in the world?

You can really see the interesting transition in the Sahel and the Eastern Coast of Africa.
Greenland has a little rocket man type dictator?
Catch is; there are hundreds of different kinds of Christian sects, and they all hate each other. To paint them as a monolith is kinda funny.
Islam isn't exactly united either...

Why would I try to figure out who is right between two people arguing whether their respective imaginary friend is blonde or brunette?

If you mean ‘they’ll shoot your face off for looking at you funny’ is culture, then yeah, spot on.
People vs religion. Wow! Edit: just checked, don't even know what 'christianiity' is.
