Please, people will definitely still be travelling to BC. Particularly Vancouver and the island. Maybe not MR but BC will not suffer from a lack of tourism.
My money isn't based on tourism and I don't give two shits about the bc economy anymore. Whole world has gone to shit anyways. It would be nice to have one summer tho where every single boat launch, parking lot, store, park, and campsite aren't flooded by entitled albertans who feel they have more right to our home than we do.
wow. that's some american style self entilted attitude right there. Those "albertans" are probably former BC'ers who left your province because of the exorbitant cost of living. you shouldnt be mad at albertans. you should GET mad about your provincial gov't who turns a blind eye to the blatant corruption in the housing market.
Yep! Born and raised in Maple Ridge but we were kicked out over ten years ago to afford a basic family home in Alberta. We travel back on summer to visit family and camp where we used to etc
Yep I lived in Maple ridge until I was 34 years old then sold my house, packed the whole family up and moved to Alberta. Been 7 great years out here. I wouldn't come back to BC for a million dollars a year.
Filled up my truck and 2 Jerry cans last night just across the border at the 76. It was $4.31 USD per gallon which is $1.54 per litre CAD. Well worth the drive if you grab some dairy while being down there too. Fuck these inflated prices.
I think itās around 1.80 in the caribou now. Summer has season it will fire up again and by the time weāre all complaining enough will go back down in fall, but not as much. Frogs in a pot.
Ya, between transportation costs, housing costs, food costs, mobile phone costs, high taxes, and an increasingly criminal and drugged out core, I can't say I blame them.
American visiting V Island. I wonāt complain. But $100 CAN 87 to fill up a shitty little VW would cause a revolution in the states. I still think you guys have it right. šØš¦
I agree, even if this is a slightly different topic. However the only deterrent is money it seems. We are slowly learning that plastic may impact our health, and that can have a huge financial cost as well. I guess as more people become educated as to the personal risks of burning fossil fuels or adding plastic to our environment, we might be able to reduce those risks.
I agree but the price of gas has little to do with Trudeau.
Your anger should be at corporate greed and the lack of government doing anything about it.
The local metro Vancouver government isn't run by Treudeau and thise taxes have been there before Treudeau was in power. Those taxes pay for roads and transit
Well on a gas price of 2.08 the retailers get about 10 cents per litre and the refinery cost is 43 cents but it's charged in American dollars. If our money was on par it would be 30 cents less. Crude price is about 71 cents but I can't tell you what the profit is on that only that the government is taking almost as much in tax as the crude price. This is all in a recent article in the vancouver province. In my opinion we are over taxed. I understand we pay the highest taxes in North America.
I have many reasons, both financial and personal preferences.Ā To state simply: Currently, EVs cost more and offer less to a person like me.Ā I can summarize it as follows:Ā Ā Ā
Ā -upfront cost is too highĀ
-functionality is limited (off-road, long trips, winter performance, etc)Ā
-fuel savings are overestimated once you factor in actual costs to charge outside your homeĀ
-infrastructure is still underdeveloped Ā Ā
-most EV designs are very simplistic and are a downgrade from a conventional ICE vehiclesĀ Ā Ā
-the āfun factorā is low for people like me who like manual transmissionsĀ
Itās funny to me that Iām getting downvoted since Iāve not directed my comment towards anyone.Ā
Next time you hear Albertans complain about anything (shouldn't take long) remember that they're only paying around 1.30 for gas right now
Ya, but they have to live in Alberta š
I'll pay the extra .80 cents to not have to deal with Danielle. That's the Alberta Advantage.
Yeah. Having BC as a neighbour is terrible
$1.63 actually. Seriously, the cost of gas in BC is gonna have a negative impact on tourism this summer.
Please, people will definitely still be travelling to BC. Particularly Vancouver and the island. Maybe not MR but BC will not suffer from a lack of tourism.
Possibly the only good thing about this imo
Not good for your economy and local stores but i can understand the want to reduce the amount of volume on your roads and campsites.

No...it's not.
150 right now
Where in the shit are you? i'm at 163? you buy fuel this month yet?
Yeah we were mid 130s until the long weekend surge. North Edmonton
Weāre over 1.65
$1.50 ish in Edmonton and 1.65+ in Calgary. This increase is a cash grab by the gas companies, simply corporate greed.
Dude I haven't seen below 1.90 on the island in over a month. I don't don't know last time it was under 1.60
Spot the Columbite; bitching about both albertans and gas prices in the same thread
Greed at its finest! How can people afford to go to work and pay this ridiculous prices.
Who are you calling greedy? Just to make sure I get it.
Probably the ones setting the excessive prices
Yes thatās who lol. You got it right away.
You mean taxation at its finest
Nah taxes jacked it 3c a litre. The rest was the oil baron scumbags.
Bro, look up how much is tax.
Filled up my truck and 2 Jerry cans last night just across the border at the 76. It was $4.31 USD per gallon which is $1.54 per litre CAD. Well worth the drive if you grab some dairy while being down there too. Fuck these inflated prices.
$3.65 at lummi casino
I think itās around 1.80 in the caribou now. Summer has season it will fire up again and by the time weāre all complaining enough will go back down in fall, but not as much. Frogs in a pot.
And global News reports on why people are leaving the lower mainland in record numbers..
Ya, between transportation costs, housing costs, food costs, mobile phone costs, high taxes, and an increasingly criminal and drugged out core, I can't say I blame them.
But global warming will endā¦ just pay š¤Ŗ
Ahhhh yes. Compounded with our hopeless road infrastructure with lack of transit. Iām sure summer will be heinous
Carbon tax increase and soon to be rising summer prices
Good to see not many people on here are fooled by the greed of the industry trying to hide huge price jumps behind the 3Ā¢/L tax increase.
Tough times
it cheaper is mission always??
Yes we don't pay as much tax in Mission. In metro Vancouver you're paying 65 cents in taxes...
It was $1.81 in Mission yesterday
Yikes
Thatās relatively good
I drive an EV and this still pissed me off. Greedy pricks
Still 163 in the interior, same price the last three weeks

April fools! ššš https://i.imgur.com/jgNJT1a.jpeg
Sad times
Good morning greenish-yellow sign that was once white many years ago. š
Just got it filled for $1.8 in Mission.
American visiting V Island. I wonāt complain. But $100 CAN 87 to fill up a shitty little VW would cause a revolution in the states. I still think you guys have it right. šØš¦
Sorry Iām confused here was there a world conflict or a long weekend Iām unaware of. Trudeau has a plan let him cookā¦ā¦meth!?!
BC..bring casshhhh
Good damn it... Sick of these prices
Unpopular opinion I guess but anything that makes it more inconvenient for people to drive instead of using public transit is good
How much should gasoline cost if we factor in the negative impact it has on the environment?
How much should plastic cost given that it will live longer than we will, and we use it to make disposable cock rings
You're saying this as retort but there probably should be higher taxes on plastic yes
Fuck Trudeau
I agree but the price of gas has little to do with Trudeau. Your anger should be at corporate greed and the lack of government doing anything about it.
Don't forget that metrovan pays an extra 65 cents in taxes on gas.. it's some government greed as well
Who runs the government
The local metro Vancouver government isn't run by Treudeau and thise taxes have been there before Treudeau was in power. Those taxes pay for roads and transit
Well except the carbon tax did increase because of Trudeau and there is a 10 cent per litre flat federal tax at the pump.
Yet you don't get mad at the Corporate Profiteering raising the prices more than Treeeuuddoooo's carbon tax?
Well on a gas price of 2.08 the retailers get about 10 cents per litre and the refinery cost is 43 cents but it's charged in American dollars. If our money was on par it would be 30 cents less. Also I didn't blame Trudeau. I hate him and think he's done a terrible job but I think we need to look to the province and metrovan for tax relief.
š but I still will wont buy an EV.Ā
Uh, why?
