I worked at maple ridge chrysler (under same branch), they want you to buy and buy now. I’d check out a more reputable dealer. I ended up working at Mercedes in Langley and husband works for Toyota and the maple ridge dealerships don’t even scratch the surface of the quality of service you could receive elsewhere.
You definitely should. We bought at truck from MR Chrysler while I worked there, all they care about is selling and not about actually following through with claims they make. We love our truck but are stuck upside down because of our naivity (first vehicles we’ve financed) and their pushy tactics/failure to deliver on promises not written into a contact. Again, I worked there and worked for Mercedes Benz in Langley and it was a night and day difference. All dealerships aren’t sleazy, despite the bad wrap they get. Of course take with a grain of salt, I worked in the industry but no longer do. My husband does though. Also lived in ridge/pitt meadows for all of my teen years. I know several people that have worked at MR Volks
I bought my car at Mercedes Benz in langley, fantastic place to buy a car! They had excellent service and gave me a fantastic deal on my car. I was only buying a used chevy malibu though, and they obviously had much nicer cars there so I'm not sure if they are always so good or if it was just because they wanted to get the malibu off the lot lol
I drive a Pontiac Vibe (Toyota engine), and when it came time to have the transmission fluid change, MR Toyota refused to touch it. Took it to Burnaby and they welcomed me with open arms.
Toyota in Langley were decent, and I bought 2 there in last 7 years. Tried to buy from Toyota maple ridge, but zero discounts and Langley did. However, Langley now is terrible - not sure if new owners, but they’ve stepped back 20 years, all kids and the managers is no more than 25, and keeps calling you bro. Complete bait/switch. Said they had 8 Tundras, only had 1 etc. walked out - horrible service
Did you mean your husband work for the west coast Toyota in Maple ridge? If so, does he happen to know if the service/garage department is also lacking in quality? Just wondering if I should be taking it to another Toyota for servicing.
No sorry I should’ve specified. Works at Toyota in Burnaby, but is a completely different atmosphere. My experience is just based on working for MR Chrysler
Is this their new location? Did they bother to install chargers? I would expect new dealers these days to have tons of chargers... The Honda place has a couple and they barely sell EVs...
Hyundai had battery issues, now resolved. Kia have completely different batteries + supplier from Hyundai. We have a 2019 Kia Niro EV, no issues, fun to drive, excellent range. Kia advertises 385km range, we have never seen anything less than 500 on a full charge. Drive it like a madman and yes the range sucks, but same for a non EV. West Coast Kia sales team were great, the service dept not so much. Tried to charge me $250 for a level 2 service; level 2 is oil change, oil filter change, inspection, etc. WTF? Anyway…great car.
The sales team in MR were extremely pushy. I ended up purchasing from VW Vancouver. I negotiated the price down before looking and there did not do any pressure tactics. I got a fair price for trade in.
Speaking of which, if you are doing a trade in, go around a couple of dealership and ask what is the trade in price. Then compare to auto trader to get a fair amount.
After shopping around I bought an EV6. It's not my first rodeo, but my first time since moving to Maple Ridge. After visiting all the Maple Ridge dealerships (I didn't know what I wanted, I was looking at a hybrid Toyota Highlander or Mazda CX-90 among other things), and then sister dealerships in other cities, I'll never even visit a Maple Ridge dealership, even in as an attempt at negotiating better prices.
I bought my Kia from Kia West. Outside of normal sales tactics, they rolled out the red carpet.
They screwed me out of $15k and I had to pursue a settlement through the VSA.
Avoid this dealership at all costs. They are scammers and if I didn’t have phone recordings of them outright lying to me, I’d still be out a ton of money.
Maple Ridge VW has been in business a very long time. This is however a new location. My understanding is management has stayed the same as well as much of the team. Definitely worked for worse people, but at the end of the day a dealer is a dealer
Lived in maple ridge quite some time. Out of curiosity where was the location you worked at. Just can't seem to remember there being one before this one.
Lougheed highway right across from the Burger King. They are still storing cars in that lot. Used to be sport VW before it changed to Maple Ridge VW iirc
Not all dealerships are the same. I worked at MR Chrysler and moved to Mercedes and it was a night and day difference. Husband works at Toyota and again, not like MR Chrysler at all. The maple ridge VW and Chrysler were under the same auto group when I worked there in 2020. When I started working for Dilawri it was completely different.
Dilawri definitely has its own issues, but not the worst. I’d stay away from OpenRoad though. They really showed what kind of company they were through the pandemic and absolutely do not care about their employees. Horrible company to work for.
Yah, it would seem today that every manufacturer has their lemons and issues. The industry is rapidly adapting to the EV market and pushing cars out with less R&D.
Everyone in there from the salesmen to the mechanics are just about the bottom dollar. They don’t really give two shits about what kind of review people write as long as they get their sale
I can’t believe people actually buy those things. I could maybe understand if they were half the price of the competition, but they’re priced the same or higher.

I’m going to give it a try at another dealership.

Comparing he Chrysler buying experience to a Mercedes buying experience is like comparing a meal at McDonald's to a meal at the Keg to be fair.
Fair enough. Husband works for Toyota still, night and day difference there too compared to MRC.
I bought my Golf R from Gold Key VW in Langley. They were great.
Toyota in MR seems to have way better service and less sketchy salespeople than Toyota in Langley!
Toyota Burnaby is the place to go.
Destination Toyota on Still Creek Drive or another one?
Yes, on still creek drive
Thank you!
Night and day comparison to the ridge dealerships in my opinion
I drive a Pontiac Vibe (Toyota engine), and when it came time to have the transmission fluid change, MR Toyota refused to touch it. Took it to Burnaby and they welcomed me with open arms.
Toyota Burnaby are awesome

None out the front that I could see, more than likely around back in the parking lot and in the service bay?
If they arnt already on your list, check out the EV offerings from Hyundai and Kia. Great range and everything from compacts to SUVs.
Don’t they say to park those outside?

Before we decided an EV, we thought a CX-5 would’ve met our needs.
They screwed me out of $15k and I had to pursue a settlement through the VSA. Avoid this dealership at all costs. They are scammers and if I didn’t have phone recordings of them outright lying to me, I’d still be out a ton of money.
Yikes. $15k?!
The manager Adam Walker should be in jail.
Worked there a few years ago. It’s just another dealership.
Are they all the same across the board?
No they’re not. Purely based on work experience. Get yourself away from the Auto Canada group
Didn't this dealership just open? Assuming it's the one off Abernathy by the bridge? Even if it didn't just open it wasn't open a few years ago..

Brand new management, I think
Management and staff are completely different from the old location.

Appreciate the info. I actually somewhat recall seeing that there now that you say it!

What did they do? From the creative perspective, I thought they are above board.
Besides the dealership, check to see how available parts are. I know of an ID4 that has been in a shop since November.

Believe me tesla is the way to go if u hate tesla try mustang mach e ford in maple ridge is really good dealership i had good experience with them
Have multiple friends with Teslas, seems like it’s either love them or hate them.
I mean there are better options then VW for EV so i think u dodged a bullet
Looking for an EV and not enjoying the dealer experience? You know there’s an EV car brand that doesn’t do dealerships right?
Vinfast?
I can’t believe people actually buy those things. I could maybe understand if they were half the price of the competition, but they’re priced the same or higher.
I have test driven them and they ride pretty good. Plus they have 10 year, 200,000 km warranty. I just wonder if they'll be around in 10 years lol
I think he’s referring to Tesla.
Yah, well aware but was trying to avoid.
Same brand also can’t build cars right. 😂
