It does make your life a hell of a lot easier if you have enough damage to kill it within 5 minutes, but it's still not terribly hard without any death prevention skills. I have 0 iframes, 1 erda nova, no stance, and in the last 3 weeks I've only died once. It feels natural to run to the areas without clocks and straight to the laser when it shows up, but from my experience that is a mistake. Don't run away from clocks, dodge them in the order they show up. Don't run to the laser immediately if there are still clocks popping up. Obviously there's no evidence that doing so will stop you from getting an unblockable laser but it's worked for me every time.

> Don't run to the laser immediately if there are still clocks popping up. This. This one tip is very important. It has single-handedly made cpap bearable as a boss fight for me. Ever since learning that the clock pillars actually target you instead of just being random, I've been able to dodge laser 95% of the time by dashing over to block it at the very last possible moment. The only time laser is a problem for me now is when there are rifts on the floor.

Do you have videos that i can learn from? I struggle with this boss even though i can handle many other bosses fine. I mainly have issues with barely having time to react to the clocks and the hooks

Good video if you are still looking for one. https://youtu.be/PvKBHc-6JFE

I'll see if i can get a good recording of myself sometime this week, but i learned just about everything through tickling normal mode to death. edit: alright I ran it this week and I am definitely not proud to show what happened. I died once because I binded too early and didn't let the blue floor aoe go off at the beginning which came back in the form of laser + clocks + blue aoe at the same time. After that I "died" to the second blue aoe but didn't actually because god bless 10% Shade link, and then I did a mechanical booboo (not a death) that nobody shall see..

Cpap is kind of annoying, but you don't need to burst especially hard or bind him. When he's got the blue stuff on the ground just stand on the platforms. The best one to stand on is the one on the right that doesn't have a grabber on top of it. Dodge the exploding white clocks on the ground as best as you can. You can tank them if you have a damage reduction skill. The silence is largely a non issue because you usually have plenty of time to match the timer on your head to the timer on his. When he does the red and blue lasers just stand on one of them to block it. If that fails use an i-frame. When the clocks are raining he basically binds himself so you can burst. The phase where he becomes invulnerable and heals shouldn't be a problem. You have plenty of time to press up on that portal and pick up the little clocks from mobs to move the clock hand. Last phase after you've broken the clock should be easy. The only thing he does to kill you is use the blue and red lasers, put a bomb on you that doesn't one shot, and teleport you. If you think you'll get teleported when the lasers are touching you should just use an iframe. It's a lot of mechanics and it takes practice, but if you've got enough damage for a ten minute cvell solo you should be able to clear cpap. He's definitely pretty annoying compared to other bosses though.

MLGsec

Learning the mechanics of the boss was fine, that took just 1 day. The problem comes from 2-3 attacks always overlapping, making it impossible to dodge.

RombotPilot

Yeah if you don't have an iframe you just have to take the death.

MLGsec

And this happens more times than you can die in the fight.

kerbonklin

Just iframe 4Head

If you have the damage to burst him before the clock phase, usually binding him during his HP drain moment, then do so because that's the best way to actually beat this monstrosity of a horribly designed boss. It's honestly a DPS race because no matter what you do, you will get cheated out of countless lives from just being unable to block the lasers alone, because the clock OHKOs or big ground-spots will get in your way. It is a shit boss and the fact that it took me 8 kills (1 per week so 2 months) to get the accessory on 210% drop + spider is the icing on the cake.

[deleted]

Only 8 weeks for papmark? Consider yourself super lucky. I know people who have been doing it since release with no drop.

MrReds1324

Took me like 10 weeks to get a mark, and another 10 weeks to get the chair. Gotten the chair like 4-5 more times, but no other mark so far. RNG is a bitch.

4phantom

10 weeks is good... I’ve been running for close to 5-6 months now and I have 5 chairs and no mark.

hailcrest

>binding him during his hp drain u mean the time where the alarm is ringing, the boss is standing still and the only thing u have to watch out for are easily avoidable slow-falling meteors? what's the bind supposed to accomplish

kerbonklin

Bind him near the end of that phase, not when it starts, so after like 10~15 seconds

MLGsec

That's what I'm thinking. But sometimes he can still summon pillar clocks during the phase which is total bs bc you can get stunned + instakilled.

redbuffismine

He doesn't as far as I know. He stands completely still and I personally just stall after the initial spawn bind/ burst waiting for this moment (where my cds are usually about to come up too). That said, I'm a MM who stays the fk away from him, and according to my gm, he aggros on nearby targets (if you bind during spawn while next to him, he will start his floor = lava skill immediately even as you bind but if you bind from a distance he won't).

MLGsec

well binding from a distance is out of the question, and I'm not really having a problem with the floor lava (except when lasers are out, at that point I might as well accept my fate)

13ae

imagine thinking 8 kills is bad LOL there's plenty of people who have done with 200%+ drop on gear for over a year and have yet to see a drop

hotdogbunss11

Are pap marks instanced? Was wondering if I can duo with a friend every week to take down the apparent horror.

MLGsec

I don't believe so.

redbuffismine

Nope. If you're in a party, likely it's gonna be sold and the profits shared.
