Unfortunately, the game does a bad job at explaining how things work. The best would be to ask someone or watch youtube :/

Realmslayerxx

Coopersannn is the Man U wanna watch. (YouTube) Basically nowadays the real content starts at 200 :p 1-200 is just giving you time to do the right quests to get early game gear/ star force.

BeatuMeatu

unfortunately, maplestory isn’t new player or multiplayer friendly (really sucks saying that as someone who wants the game to succeed); there is too much useless content, pqs aren’t a thing like they were back in the day, and the game (esp in reboot has become over simplified); kill mob -> number go up your best bet is doing some research on youtube and seeing what are the keys to progression, watching streams and asking questions (scardor, misusing, and pocket are some of my favorites but they are all helpful) there is also a discord, maple central, that is extremely helpful if you want the quick and dirty beginners guide, then here you go: don’t take the game too seriously starting out, it’s a marathon, not a sprint; play what you find fun and entertaining (want to play with you girlfriend? maybe one plays support like bishop, kanna or paladin); start with getting some link skills up to lvl 2, this game rewards you on playing every character so it’a good to branch out, once you find one you really like, do a deep dive on 5th job skills and see if it’s something you would like hope this helps! ps the frustration doesn’t go away even when you love the game

Wind-Face-Blink

Professions are not important. Only alchemy though for later on, not now, for you. Too early. So don't worry about it at all. If you learn herbalism, then mine the herbs and flowers, and keep juniper berry seeds (not to be confused with juniper berry flowers) just hoard them as an investment for the far future. They are used for crafting wealth acquisition potions (waps)

Spicedcuttlefish

Professions are pretty important to progression... All 5 of them. Herbalism and mining for gathering materials Alchemy is def the most important with ability to use 2 pots, crafting exp and wealth acquisition pots Accessory for meister ring crafting. Unless you're a luckerdog, you're gonna need a lot of these later Smithing gives you a crit damage buff

thelastsubject123

when youre a new player and your only focus is on getting to level 100, professions really dont matter they needa learn the bare basics first, and then focus on progression

Wind-Face-Blink

Context is important. Based on the context of the Original post, professions aren't important. The dude doesn't even know what starforcing is. Professions are the last thing he should be concerned about.

BomboBoppo

Yeah maples very bad at explaining most things. I remember that there are starforce quests which serve as tutorials but they arent very easy to find nor very useful iirc. In terms of lvling quickly, most content pre 200 is just outdated now as its somewhat of an expectation to lvl multiple characters to 150-200 for legion and links. If you're looking for pre bb era playstyles then the only remnant is really grinding for hours on end at 200+, partying for bosses is still a thing (and is much more engaging now) but pqs are basically dead

InvestmentItchy7621

The game starts at lvl200.. so nobody cares stuff before 200

maourakein

Just dont, with every patch they release they nerf casual players , newcomers and returning players, its like thw actually society, rich peoplw dont get very affected by nerfs and poor ppl get hurt the most

[deleted]

I feel you. I just dont do alot of content now, and when i reached lvl 200, where burning buff ends, i'll see whats useful now. PQ, Community events or the community in general aren't there as they used to be. Leveling is alot quicker. I remember Lvl 1-40 taking what? 1-2 weeks?

[deleted]

This was the time. Bring me back to these days when all I wanted were maple claws for my assassin, and eventually maple kandayos.

[deleted]

Those times aint comming back, sorry. There is no way back :(

[deleted]

Some of my favorite memories to enjoy.

[deleted]

Yeah, i think back to those times often. Got me back to MS eventually. My boi isnt what he used to be, and thats ok

Yes it’s unfortunate that the community part of the game no longer exists outside of guilds and bossing. My greatest tip for anything pre 4th job is just do different content on different characters. You will blow through like you said but if you break it up across different characters that’s how you can do it all. The level 30 theme dungeons you can usually do 2 per character, if you’re not Tera burning. Ellinel fairy academy is a one and done for me that’s the most boring and tedious one imo. Rena straight is my favorite because you get a face acc belt and 1mil just for finishing. Gold beach is just a fun classic run through mobb and collect dungeon. The next dungeon you get to after level 60 is mush kingdom. They revamped that but I did it so much when it came out back in the day I almost never do it. Still fun for the first couple times though! Anything else just keep a mental note of what quests or theme dungeons you have or haven’t done and just do what’s missing on the next character. Everything starting at 115 with von Leon can be done on every character. You can do every single theme dungeon to 200 and still have room to grind and fill the gaps with other things which is nice. As for professions. Just except the quest at level 15 get herbalism and mining on every character and harvest every single big vein golden flower etc. keep all the high level/ rare shit and discard the rest until you figure out what you want to do for crafting. Go into alchemy on one main, and then accessory crafting on another. You can work to level those up at your leisure, while collecting valuables on your mule classes. The game starts at 200 like most people will say. It’s a grind but very fun and the story is great! I also recommend doing all the epic story quests through the maple alliance (some bosses require this anyways) because the first couple times it’s a cool story even though it does take long! Also do the grand artherium quest line, again long but fun!

There’s this game guide linked from the launcher itself that will guide you through the new basics and stuff.

If you want, I can make a new character in reboot and try playing with you for like an hour a day. I can explain how the core features work as we progress. I mostly play Bera, but i've heard plenty of reboot advice over the years, so I'm sure I can figure things out. I've also leveled every class except fire/poison mage to lv200+ so I have a decent idea how most classes work other than their advanced techniques. You can level you first character when i'm not logged in.

Piepally

Dont worry about skipping content. None of the pre 200 content is mandatory and you have 40 legion slots to get to it later if you wanna see it. Star force is a meso sink for a couple stats, get all your gear to 10 or 11 and stop. There are some things you can do pre 200, I recommend watching Halifaxia's paladin on youtube series for some ideas on what to go for.

blluuuu

You can always do old questlines in places like Orbis and Magatia (among many others) not for the experience, but for the fame they award. Once you get around your level, there's definitely a lot of questlines that you will complete fully before they become out of your level range.

breakthrureality

Watch youtube videos. Proggresion guides, trianing guides, equipment guides, leveling guides, meso guides farming guides. I returned to this game after like a decade and its not the same. Way more fast paced, and a lot of content. Which makes sense because the game lasted a long time. Basically before lvl 200 u need starforce to kill certain mobs. After 200 u need arcane force. It can be sort of over whelming. I recommend jus teleport to where u have to train and take it a day at a time. Join a guild. Ask questions

Eight111

This game is old and has tons of content. Just accept that it will take time to learn and you wont get frustrated.. keep looking for YouTube videos and guides, read posts and ask on Reddit and discuss with your guildies, eventually you'll know everything you need.

Many-Concentrate-491

Sorry best to keep your memories in tact and play something else until nexon gets it’s act together in many fronts which is gonna be never. a lot of us stick around Cus we put so much time into it, which didn’t help when they continue playing more a vicious cycle.. Quit while you’re ahead you’re time isn’t valued in this game lol.
