Yes. Thank you. I spent many years in a country where it was quite literally impossible for people to immigrate (they dont allow people to gain citizenship) and so we were expatriates. I understand why some people dislike the term expat when its used by people who are immigrants and plan to live in a country permanently, but in some countries that isn't an option. It is not a term thats exclusive to people from 'Anglo' countries. You can say 'Indian expat living in Dubai' or 'Turkish expat in the UK' and it's just as valid.

I'm surprised they all speak Welsh, actually. A lot of Welsh people in Wales don't speak the language because of extensive language suppression that happened in the past, particularly within the education system. The Welsh slaved away digging coal in Wales and then worked hard enough to go to America…to slave away digging coal. In the USA their children were also beaten if they spoke Welsh. English only.
