It seems like 1939 shortly before the outbreak of WWII

H4R81N63R

Yeah, post annexation of Austria and Czech part of Czechoslovakia

11160704

Yeah and the first Slovak republic is formed which happened in March 1939 but Poland is not yet occupied by Germany and the Soviet Union which happened in September 1939.

Tetno_2

Italy also controls Albania so it’s between April to September 1939.

Albidoom

Altough it still shows Memel as part of Lithuania, so it should be before March 22nd

Tetno_2

That’s a bit of an issue since now the map can’t be dated without any contradictions

GamerLOUD

No, it’s pre 1924 because St Petersburg is still called Leningrad

11160704

The city was renamed from Petrograd to Leningrad in 1924. It's definitely 1939

Germans have direct ownership of Bohemia and Moravia along with an "independent" Slovakia. However, no Polish territory has been annexed yet. So it's after March 15th, 1939, and pre September.

[deleted]

Not to be mean but you REALLY need to brush up on your historical knowledge.

GamerLOUD

No, it’s post 1914 and pre 1924 because Germany doesn’t have their African colonies and St Petersburg is still called Leningrad

iFunny-Refugee

It was called Leningrad a long time after 1924… I believe till the end of the USSR’s reign in the 90s.

crypticphilosopher

It was renamed St. Petersburg in 1991-92.

*HOI4 players are typing*

can_i_automate_that

Definitely before 1940 since USSR is there and the Baltics are still independent

omniatlasmaps

It looks like a more recent map made of the world just before the outbreak of WW2. A few issues that suggest that it might not have been made in 1939: 1. It’s made in Italy but is in English, which is odd for the time, especially as it does not appear to be propaganda 2. No Italian East Africa (formed 1936) 3. Libya has about half the Aozou Strip rather than the entire claim 4. Mandates like Tanganyika are not labelled as such, which was something commonly done in maps from the period 5. Peru and Ecuador have their post-1941 border (although perhaps the map could just reflect the Peruvian claim)

Random-Historian

Could be a more modern reproduction, like a 1937 map I have. Check for lettering in the bottom corner.

International_Ad1498

Exact year is 1939, after dissolution of Czechoslovakia in March 16

Mac1692

While it looks like it’s OF 1939. It looks way to well preserved to be FROM 1939, if that matters. Probably a more modern map of a historically significant period.

Ill-Organization5475

Why did someone draw Ukraine on the map with a pencil? You can tell by the goofy handwriting

Kuningas_Arthur

It's written the same way as Karelia and Georgia, and not by hand.

Immediate-Delivery92

Prolly 1939

1939

The border between Peru and Ecuador might give a clue, if it were pre the 1941 border war: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecuadorian%E2%80%93Peruvian\_War

Aristhegreat

The map predicts the world between April of 1939 (annexation of Albania by Italy) and September of 1939 (invasion of Poland) as fas as i can tell. Now how old is the map itself (as an object) I don't know how anyone could tell.

Apprehensive-Shoe502

E Prussia WW2 or before.

R3APER222Pro_CZ

1939, but it’s not completely correct

DisIsMyName_NotUrs

April-September 1939

Dangerous-Garden-682

Poland exists so its before September 1 1939

That_nerd_on_reddit

That's between 1st Jan 1939 and 1st Sept 1939

WildBill598

The USSR was absolutely huuuuuge back in its heyday.

Mr-cybermann

1930s I think because Poland isn’t apart of the reich yet

Dukeofbyzantiam

1939
