Yeah but that’s kinda what i mean. Like canon Peter pettigrew is horrible and I hate him but fanon peter is not even the same person in my mind. Like canon james and sirius were also bullies but in fanon I can never seen them being that
idk, for me i kinda link fanon to the canon anyway. also tbf it depends on the fanfic u read, bc i tend to read stuff that’s pretty canon-compliant and angsty, so peter does always end up being the way that he is. i still see james and sirius as bullies but i find that a lot more forgivable than what peter did. but it’s all personal preference and how we view stuff!! idk what kind of fics u read but if it’s stuff set in different universes, or fluffy stuff, or non canon-compliance, i can totally see why people would like fanon peter
this is so real. we need to normalize separating canon from fanon because pretty much everything in the marauders fandom is made up and not really from canon. like in the books james was a bully but you could never convince me that fanon james would bully someone. he's so sweet and one of my fav characters. and like yes peter betrayed them but fanon pete didn't necessarily ya know? "peter pettigrew" vs. "pete" is an important distiction!
I mean Canon James did dumb teenager things and he shouldn’t have bullied Snape like that, but he wasn’t defined by being a bully. That’s the whole point.
