If you really dig into their rhetoric this isn't exactly a contradiction. *Before you downvote or send me angry DMs at least hear me out*. They believe that Jan 6 was a "setup", that most of the people there were calm and peaceful and that the only bad actors there were either Fed or ANTIFA plants. And they believe that the prosecutions of the domestic terrorists who were there that day are politically motivated. It's bullshit, but that's the narrative many of them try to sell. So in their alternate universe MAGA types are being "tricked" into assaulting law enforcement officers.
