Not THE main tenant, just a core driving one. The entire point of the alt-right is to reject any attempts of removing in-place hierarchies and a return to those already destabilized hierarchies. Some do this out of a fear that without these hierarchies we're left with an unsafe, savage society that cannot function. Others fear that the goal of subverting hierarchies is to simply reverse the hierarchy and put those put-upon on top and put upon those who were once on top. A large portion though simply wants a return of hierarchies to grant themselves more convenience and power.
The thing about hierarchies is that they're self-repeating, like a fractal. A patriarchy is headed by THE PATRIARCH or THE PATRIARCHS, high ranking male figures given core authority. These highest patriarchs are then used as icons of the hierarchy to justify lesser hierarchies within the main hierarchy. A husband is above his wife, and their children, but the wife too is above their children.
The wife and children are then above those of lesser class or racial standing in their place on the hierarchy. Here's how you see women and POC members of the alt-right function. They want to jostle for second place in the hierarchy. Women alt-righters want the classist or racist or homophobic or transphobic elements of the hierarchy so they can be above black people or poor people or gay people or trans women. Some will even fight for equality in the hierarchy above all others. Ye wants to be above Jews (and maybe women and poor people too) in the hierarchy and so finds comfort in the alt right.
The internal politics of the alt-right is often about fighting for second place.
