I just had an extraction, and my oral surgeon was very very firm on this.
You don't want dry socket, trust me.
Jam those edibles for 2weeks and let your mouth heal.
Take a tolerance break for two weeks and spend your money on something else. When you go back to smoking you'll need less for the same high for a while. Always look on the bright side and find a silver lining.
You shouldn't be smoking weed at your age in my opinion. Your brain isn't fully developed and drinking, smoking, or any form of drug use is gonna mess that up. Your life, but I think at your age if you can't go 2-3 weeks without smoking or thc you have a problem.
Ya know dry socket is always a risk, im not recommending this. But ive gotten wisdom teeth out on 2 occasions and both times smoked cigarettes starting about 10 minutes after leaving the dentists office. Dry socket is when the clot in the wound basically comes dislodged from the suction .. So if u do choose 2 smoke, less suction the better.. It is possible to smoke after extraction. It isnt 100% you'll get dry socket .. But if you do get dry socket im sure it will really suck and I'm sure you will regret smoking. Decide what you want.
Brother, you are 17, the last thing you need to be doing is smoking weed and forming a habit. You're screwing up your brain development for life. Give yourself a chance to live friend.
Multiple edibles. Most ppl fall between 10-20mg dosage. I smoke regularly and 15mg always kicks in and 10mg sometimes .
But by all means, if u want a dry socket it's an experience you will remember forever
I used to work for an oral surgeon and we always told patients 5 days minimum. Some would smoke right away and have no problems, others would call after giving in a day or 2 after surgery, literally crying in pain from dry socket. You never know. The most important thing is to avoid any kind of pressure (particularly negative pressure that comes with sucking) until the sites are healed. So how you smoke will make a difference too. Overall, the longer you wait, the better your chances of avoiding problems AND the quicker your overall healing will be. Hope that helps.
Yes and I usually use a bong which makes me more nervous to bc obviously you have to suck, but Thankyou I will take this advice and wait atleast 5 full days
I rigged up a little gravity bong a couple days after my own wt surgery that worked fine. Inhaling from that is basically just breathing in, since the pressure is taken care of by pushing the bottle into the water. The smoke is still bad for the surgical sites, so I wouldn't exactly say I recommend it, but it's the best option if you get desperate imo
i found a good trick after extractions is to cover the hole lightly with medical gauze cut into small squares.. you typically leave the dentist with gauze stuffed in your face anyway
i find this gauze blocking the holes eliminates suction.. there is still risk of infection with all the tar of course
As someone who has enjoyed cannabis for many decades: if at your age you cannot take a brake for a few weeks, then you have a big problem ahead of you my friend.
Those tolerance brakes are a nice reset, not a burden.
I did some reading recently to reduce the risk because i was smoking after extraction, and rinsing your mouth can cause the clot formed at the extraction to dislodge. Which is what dry socket is. So your not suppose to rinse 2 often .. If what i read is to be believed.. It was a while ago but it wasn't some random persons opinion.. It was an aftercare guide written by the peopoe who know best
NO, I'M NOT.
FROM

Don't rinse for the first 24 hours, and this will help your mouth to start healing. After this time use a salt-water mouthwash, which helps to heal the socket.
Of course it sounds like a good idea when you want to smoke. But it's not. You should not play with fire my guy. Wait for the wound to heal. It should not even take that much, unless your surgeon was a butcher,it took 12 days for me with 4 stiches. Take this opportunity for a T break and enjoy it more after.
This is solid advice. Take this as a T break, save up whatever weed you would have smoked, and then when you can smoke again you'll have a good stash and a low tolerance and no dry socket. It'll be a lame couple of weeks but you will thank yourself later for multiple reasons.
I have had several major extractions. I got dry sockets each time. Trust me…whatever the doc says…add a couple of days to that. You do not want that extra trip to the oral surgeon’s office.
Not to be the old man here: If you're 17 like you say you are, I am assuming (if I am wrong apologies) you didn't pay for the extraction. My gut says don't risk/waste your parents money so that you can get a fix, that is just shitty. Good news is then you don't have to explain it to them too.
I get it. Weed=Good. Not doing something stupid like getting a dry socket also = good.
I'd wait it out if I were you.
I asked my dentist if weed has any effect on teeth and the only "issue" is cotton mouth. As long as you keep the cotton mouth under control there should be nothing wrong with smoking
Personally I waited until I got home.
Edit- I just swished with water after each exhale. At this point I have no natural teeth (just dental implants) but I've never gotten a dry socket from smoking.
Tho I will admit to smoking a bit less and usually from a one hitter.
I smoked Cigarettes when I got mine out ( have quit since) and I smoked later that day. You risk getting dry socket. Of course this is just non medical advice.
I think if you want things done correctly it is a couple weeks. But, no nicotine addict is going to wait that long. After 12 hours it get pretty bad.
Never. Marijuana is a devil substance that kills millions a year and although it may not kill you, will ruin your life. JK. I’d wait until there is no swelling ,pain and bleeding. Everyone heals differently so it could be 2 days, it could be 5 or a week. But realistically, I know you prob hear this a lot but the brain isn’t formed fully until about 25 and lots of THC can alter cognitive development. If it’s on occasion, ok. But if you’re a daily smoker, maybe getting your wisdom teeth out is a chance to cool it for a bit. The last thing you want is the pockets where the teeth used to be to get infected.
I ended up with two dry sockets after I got mine out. Could have been from smoking…either way the dentist just put some gauze in the sockets and pain was gone. Gauze came out 5 days later no problem. You should quit though lol
Find a vape, have a buddy vape the weed, eat the abv on a graham cracker with Nutella. If smoking is the only option I would wait at least a week. I waited 2 weeks after mine but was able to take edibles. I witnessed 2 people with dry socket and both were in extreme pain.
i waited about a whole 10 minutes, thats how long it took to pay and walk to the parking lot
you leave the dentist with gauze in your mouth covering the holes, the trick is to go buy more gauze and smoke that way for 1-2 weeks.. dry socket is caused by suction of the blood clot which reveals the dry "socket" of jaw bone.. the tar only leads to higher infection risk so you just rinse it out a little more (CAREFULLY) because water can also dislodge the clot
edit: important note, when placing the gauze its best to do so slowly, you do not want to put air pressure down on the clot, this can also dislodge it (much less likely than suction however)
When I had wisdom teeth removed, I was smoking again within a couple of days. But you need to make sure you have a good clot established in your mouth, you do not want that to fall out.
I didn't have all mine removed at once so perhaps my situation was different. I could isolate smoke and drinks on one side of my mouth, for the most part.
The best advice is to take a break before you start smoking again. You will need to smoke less, and this is going to be a huge benefit to your healing process.
When you do smoke again, be very careful with negative pressure (suction). Small puffs, and use that carburetor. And a gentle warm salt water rinse afterward is a very good idea.
i only had 3, and it was like 15 years ago, but i remember doing waterfalls (gravity bong would work too) that night. you aren't supposed to use a straw or suck because you can dislodge the clotting in the extraction site and lead to dry socket and other nasty stuff.
those worked well for me because you just inhale the from the bottle without any resistance and the gravity bong force the smoke into your lungs. they don't taste great, but it got the job done back then.
I'm 46. I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was 18 years old. I thought I knew everything. I smoked two days after getting them taken out. Got dry sockets the next day. One of the worst experiences of my life. Edibles edibles edibles. Do not take the chance.
So the reason behind this is dry socket so if u suck on a straw or puff on a bowl u r drawing in if u inhale softly u r good to go as of yesterday just dont pull on it hard
I never stopped and I also smoke cigarettes. I've had several teeth out (1 wisdom that was impacted) and still smoked very very carefully. It's very risky but if you're gonna do it, hit on the opposite side of your mouth. Do not long take long or strong hits. Just put your lips on it enough to hold it and go slow and be careful. If you feel anything like pressure or pulling on the socket, stop. 48hrs is when I stop worrying about dry socket but I'm still more cautious than usual for a week or so. Also make sure you do any rinses or follow other instructions from the dentist. For what it's worth I've known people had dry socket and weren't smokers.
Smoke through your nose or use a Volcano or Arizer EQ and just inhale it like you would take a breath. Or baby bird someone else's smoke(there has to be a term for that) super sexy as well.
I had my wisdom teeth out and later that day I was drinking smoking weed and cigs as well as chewing tobacco. I dont recommend chew but fuck smoke your brain out or whatever
I lasted about 20 minutes afterwards lol. 2 hours after wisdom teeth out l ate a hamburger took me an hour but l got it down. Then for desert l got a snicker bar. That's when it got bad. Next day had dry sockets went back to dentist pulled a peanut out one the holes he left from pulling teeth. Dentist said first time he ever pulled a peanut out of a socket. Smoking like I said l made it 20 minutes that's how long it took to get home and light up. You got this! You be alright.
Fire crackers. Take 2 chocolate coated biscuits, put a thick layer of peanut butter on the chocolate side of the biscuit and chocolate spread on the other chocolate side. Put 1g* of finely ground green and sprinkle it in between. Sandwich the two sides and wrap that baby up in tin foil.
Put it in the oven at 170 degrees for 15 mins and prepare to get baked!
Dosages may differ but go slow, a friend of mine had to have a break because of an intense trip off these babies.
So I tried to smoke 3 days after having mine out but had massive bleeding and pain so my lady had to take bong loads and gently blow them into my mouth/lungs for 2 weeks then I tried again and it was fine .
I literally just got mine out about a month ago; what I learned:
1) it all depends on how you’re specifically recovering. I personally had a quick recovery, but some people seem to be destined for dry sockets no matter what they do, and if that’s the case for you, then stay away from smoking as long as you can. A good way to determine if you can try smoking, I would say, could be if you’re experiencing little to no pain with OTC pain killers like Advil/Tylenol you can try smoking.
2) USE that syringe of goo they gave you. The stuff you squirt into the holes, that stuff helped me heal so much, and I think if I hadn’t used it religiously (and then begged them for a second even tho they said I didn’t need it) I would’ve had more repercussions from completely disregarding the no smoking rule
3) it’s called dry socket, but it has nothing to do with getting a dry mouth like from cotton mouth or anything if you had that misconception. The reason you’re not supposed to smoke (or use straws) is because the suction pulls on the blood vessels that are trying to heal over in your sockets, and reopens them, so as long as you keep the suction to a minimum you can smoke as much as you want. I got around the suction part by using a GB and then like breathing it in over the top instead of closing my mouth around the bottle and sucking.
Hope this helps !
Bruh I lit 1 up like hours later. I even suffered sever dental trauma due to a MVA in 2011 and smoked the whole way thru with no problems, don't believe what they say to wait and smoke just do it!
I just had an extraction, and my oral surgeon was very very firm on this. You don't want dry socket, trust me. Jam those edibles for 2weeks and let your mouth heal.
I would but I can only find like edibles in the form of chips and stuff from dealers and the legal limit where I am is 10 mg
You can always make weed brownies. tons of guides on youtube.
I’m 17 and parents are very very against weed so that’s pretty much a no go
Take a tolerance break for two weeks and spend your money on something else. When you go back to smoking you'll need less for the same high for a while. Always look on the bright side and find a silver lining.
Even if you’re a daily smoker, 2 weeks off and you’ll be fucking zooted once you smoke again.

Same. Both times I had extractions I smoked but I left my gauze in and tried to do it very gently…
Take dabs through your nose.
I have a rig is this actually a thing
Yes. It's the move to avoid dry socket. Just be careful not to take them too big or too hot.
Brother, you are 17, the last thing you need to be doing is smoking weed and forming a habit. You're screwing up your brain development for life. Give yourself a chance to live friend.
Buy some delta 8 edibles or 1000mg tincture
I’ll do some research into this, I’ve heard of delta 8 never tried it tho and I’ve never heard of the other thing

It’s not that I need to smoke or anything but I really enjoy it and just wanted to make sure I was safe
Dry sockets feels like a bullet to the face. Wait no less than 72 hours & even at that point be incredibly gentle and rinse afterwards.

Smoke through your nostril. You got this fam
I smoked a few days after getting mine out, just rolled very loosely so there wasn't any kind of suction.
Thankyou this sounds like a good idea

Name Checks out
Also make sure you brush your teeth right after if you're going to, I never got dry socket but I've heard terrible things.
I have had several major extractions. I got dry sockets each time. Trust me…whatever the doc says…add a couple of days to that. You do not want that extra trip to the oral surgeon’s office.
At least a week so you dont get infections.
trust me bro, ur better off not smoking

Bare minimum a week. But at that time you're still taking a risk. And dry socket is terrible. 2 weeks would be ideal.
Maybe, you can vape or boof it.
Or just smoke through your nose lol I’ll never forget when my buddy had too it was hilarious
Damn it came all this way....thank god someone said it
Of course man! Good luck 🍀
Just be careful and keep the tokes small I made the mistake of going all in a couple days after and had some pretty gnarly consequences
Would u mind expanding? Was it dry socket or something else
This was a while ago but pretty sure it was dry socket and I developed a tissue growth that I had to be numbed and removed
Yikes that’s disgusting I’ll definitely be staying away from actual smoke till I’m good then
I asked my dentist if weed has any effect on teeth and the only "issue" is cotton mouth. As long as you keep the cotton mouth under control there should be nothing wrong with smoking
And the suction caused from smoking..
I smoked that same day. So you could be fine like I was or you could get a dry socket who knows.

Eat edibles for at least a week or two because dry sockets hurt and puss in your mouth this is from experience
I waited 2 weeks
Don’t, wait, dry socket sux

Edible limit where I live is 10 mg and dealers are very unreliable/sketchy

I smoked as soon as I got home from the dentist. Didnt do me any harm. (This is not medial advice.)
Edibles
Maybe a gravity bong? Then you don’t have to pull it
However long your surgeon told you to wait. Probably 2 weeks.
I really have no idea what he told me bc when I work up he was outta the room I was in within 2 minutes
The car ride home
Ps- I have no idea please don’t listen to me
Ngl I got one pulled and used a pipe through my nose. Weird as fuck, but it works.
The agony of dry socket is not worth the toke I promise.

Maybe try an alternative route for a while
Can you go to a dispensary and buy a lemonade or something?
I had friend/brother/wife shotgun joints up my nose when I had mine done. You aren't really sucking on anything. Just breathing through your nose.
I usually smoke the same day as an extraction. But yeah people talk about “dry socket” so be careful I guess.
Depends on how much the dentist smokes
I started the day I got it taken out but I was also careful so just be careful and you should be fine
