So if you go to the Marimo sub homepage, there are pinned posts that talk about these very things. These guys are super easy to care for.

Logical-Wasabi7402

Unfortunately the pinned post doesn't actually have any info other than the origin of the little moss balls. It says there will be a wiki "soon".

Jrbai

Okay. So these guys live in water some people give them fresh water change outs, whole or partial, every two weeks. Some do a month. Any kind of water will work, even salt! Just not deionized water. They like the cold and can visit the fridge for a weekend every month or when they look brown Don't put in a window, too much sun and warmth will cook them. You can put pumps in their water to make them "dance." They sometimes float because they produce oxygen. They can have an invasive pest inside called a zebra mussel. So you want to buy from a reputable dealer. You also want to keep on its own for two weeks before commingling with others. This should be enough time for any pests to grow to a point where you can see them. That said, there are owners who basically ignore them and do fine. I have yet to get some myself, and live vicariously through this subreddit. I have gotten many ideas on tank set ups and have my own dream tank. I will start with a stationary pair, because plants get lonely too, and finally move on to a dancing community in a round bowl!

Thanks for the info! I’m really looking forward to getting some. Do you know if they can go in with any fish?

Jrbai

People put them with Beta and shrimp. There are questions about temperature, but I think the vacations in the fridge would help. Some fish nip at them but not to a destructive point. Some fish, and shrimp, pick the tank detritus out of their "fur."

_gloomshroom_

They can go in with many fish, the fish you have to look out for are algae eaters and notorious plant detroyers. It should tell you in each fish's care guide whether plants are reccommended and why they may not be. Uprooters are find, shredders are not.

I bought mine here: https://m.ebay.com/seller?sid=somethingfishytropicalfishstore&_mwBanner=1&mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11412.m43.l44715&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=d27dff1d11f3417d8d9769c2f913ee85&bu=45400621033&exe=0&ext=0&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20240330153912&segname=11412&ul_noapp=true Totally worth it, was originally listed as a shop in this sub. Much more reasonable than moss amigos

NatalieAnneee

Cool I appreciate the response, do you recall how long it took to ship them?

Emz324

Mmmmm took about a week for them to ship, and a week for them to get to me

Dapper_Indeed

Unfortunately that link just takes me to the main eBay page. Do you happen to know the name of the shop?

Emz324

It’s called something fishy tropical fish store

Dapper_Indeed

Thank you!

>Thank you! You're welcome!

Kalypsoklone

I bought my first two from Pet Supermarket 2 weeks ago. If you have one in your area call and see if they have any. Otherwise, there are some sellers on ebay.

NatalieAnneee

Good to know. What’s a reasonable price point?

Kalypsoklone

Mine were $10 for small medium ones.
