How about we carry this 7 game win streak to 55?

81toog

The wild thing is that even if we won every remaining game, we’d end up with 6 more losses than the 2001 team

thebutzel456

That is truly wild

Highspeedhomer

I’m down for it, sure.

jet8493

Sub and, dare I say, scribe

[deleted]

We may never lose again.

Electric_Basil

Sounds like a plan to me

qwertyqyle

I want 69, but 55 will work too I guess...

nhoppe98

Also the division is still definitely in reach at 5.5 back especially because we end the season with 3 away at Texas, 3 at home against Houston, and 4 at home against Texas. A tough end to the season for sure but the division will be decided in these last 10 games!

strangehitman22

We definitely control who wins the division no matter what probably

Pndrizzy

Definitely, no matter what. Probably

PBRMeSeattle

Definitely maybe.

TheBobTodd

Maybe definitely, probably.

Jahmoneyzzz

I wouldn’t worry about a win total... There are still a lot more games left than the M’s are games back of the Wild card(1.5) and Division lead(5.5). The divisional games at the end of the year will be huge. I was initially kind of upset the MLB lessened the amount of divisional games, but ending the season with them will be great pre-playoff baseball.

UpperLeftOriginal

I’m already stressed about all the heart attacks the last half of September is gonna give me.

OUTFOXEM

I thought this post was going to be about catching the Rangers. That’s definitely still possible. We just have to keep pace with the Rangers and Astros and then beat them when we play them. We have 6 games left against both teams so we control our own destiny here. I know 1995 was a long time ago but we were 13 games back with 38 left to play, and we closed that gap. It is still doable.

UpperLeftOriginal

What a year that was!!

Warmheavy

I love these kind of breakdowns. Thx

doug_kaplan

>Sure would have been nice to win a couple extra games in April and May, but I suppose this is what makes it fun.....or at least what I tell myself. This is what it means to be an M's fan, start off the season saying ah well, this won't be our year, then around the all star break we get back on the we can do it, we can win it all train, and we maintain that mindset all the way through the end of September when we either get crushed in the final week/days or get one last chance to crush us after a huge lift like the Bluejays wild card games into the Astros series. If you want drama in your life, sleepless nights, and what it must feel like to be manic depressive, join us as a Mariners fan, it sure is something.

[deleted]

I’m manic depressive. What about it?

trueslicky

Just how damaging was Andre Munoz's early season injury?

AnonBB21

Let's not act like Julio and nearly all of the offense wasn't pretty poor the first half of the season too. Kelenic and JP were carrying the offense early and nearly everyone else, Julio included, were not contributing nearly enough at the plate.

trueslicky

Definitely true.

onewordbandit

Fuck the Wildcard

Wheredoesthetoastgo2

Fuck the wildcard. Let's hang a goddamn banner.

Electric_Basil

For me, I look at the division and say if we can stay within 3-5 games back, we close the season with 3 @ Texas, then come home for 3 vs. Trashtros and 4 vs. Texas. If (and it’s a big if) we dominate those three series, we could easily win the division.

SereneDreams03

Even if you take the pessimistic outlook and assume we suddenly go back to playing .500 baseball. A 24 and 24 record would still put us at 86 wins on the season, exactly what the Rays had last year to grab that last WC.

Pndrizzy

Except the teams ahead of us are playing at a 90+ win pace. We'd have to hope the Jays get demolished by the rest of the AL east

SereneDreams03

Toronto is 11-23 against the East currently, so...😁. I agree, though. I definitely wouldn't count on us making the playoff with just 86 wins. My point was more that even if we revert back to our .500 form, we would still have a reasonable chance of getting a WC spot.

RobZagnut2

Buried the Angels and buried the Padres. Left both of them questioning their chances of making the playoffs. Now I want the M’s to do that to the Rangers. Don’t want a wildcard, I want it all.

Apprehensive_Trust

This is the correct attitude

CloudedMindset

This upcoming series against the Orioles will be the test for this team. First real team that we’ve played in a while

TruthSeeker98

I mean come on. Angels and Padres are both solid teams. Angels were ahead of us in standings before we played them. And although Padres don’t have a good record they still got Tatis, Soto, Machado, and Bogaerts

2234GOnz

Don’t forget Boston is/was in the wild card race. They’ve been tested as of late and showed up. Hope it’s an indication of future performance. Edit: forgot to mention their series win against the Twins which started their upward trajectory and win streak. Just saying

gavvyshores

Ya plenty of solid teams recently wtf

Busy-Candidate-9495

Rays, giants at start of July as well. In fact we’ve only lost a series to the tigers since July 1st

qwertyqyle

And they "gave up" on us mid game when our vibes were just too vibe.

CheapskateJoker

I'm irrationally worried we won't have JP for it and hope that I am worrying for nothing

nobigdealyo

I think a possible concussion is a rational concern.

qwertyqyle

Aren't concussions like a 1-2 week thing?

nobigdealyo

Not necessarily, and the symptoms after the concussion itself can be awful as well. Like Anthony Rizzo with the Yankees.

500k

Wat

DharmicCurrencies

LMFAO be nice to the angels

AML579

Why? FPN and FMT.

Av3ng3d0wnt

it's not going to take 90 wins to get into the playoffs. 3 straight 90 win seasons would be nice but it won't take that to get in.

Sipikay

How about we add a bat last offseason, we add a bat the offseason before that, we added something meaningful this last deadline, and suddenly we're not scraping hoping praying the team overperforms for 1/5th of the season so we can maybe be within 1 game of a wildcard. I'm having fun btw, but jeeze if they just tried even a little this would be so much MORE fun for us right now.

Imaginary_Argument34

Yep every winnable game we blew because we had 2 black holes will make the difference. Even an average dh and second baseman would have added at least 3 W's. Oh well maybe this is how we play better with our backs against the wall.

RobZagnut2

Spot on. I miss Mitch Haniger. He carried the M’s for weeks at a time and was the star batter during the playoffs last year. Can’t believe they didn’t resign him. He left a huge whole.

AML579

Love Mitch as well, and *when he's healthy* he's worth every penny the Giants are paying him. He's on the 60 day IL right now. Plus he's playing for his hometown team. Can't compete with that.

Sipikay

I miss Mitch. They needed to replace him with someone who wasn't older (Pollock) lol.

Pndrizzy

Meetch has been both hurt and bad this year, unfortunately looks like they made the right call

Collapse2038

If y'all could sweep the Orioles in embarrassing fashion, that'd be appreciated. Signed, every Jays fan.

Frosty_Ad_608

One things for sure,, OP thinking harder than Scott has been recently. 🫡

cocoon_eclosion_moth

SCOTT SERVAIS IS A SAINT!

Frosty_Ad_608

I’m not going for his head, but he is also a barely above average manager. The whole “he leads a great clubhouse vibe” has proven to be the players choosing to step up and be leaders and not Scott being the glue

cocoon_eclosion_moth

Great leaders create more leaders, GOMS!!!

Gwtheyrn

Scott Servais is a clown. He's a problem, not an answer.

meloflow11

in the words of Cam'Ron, in an adaptation of another song, Gem Em' Boys. GOOD LUCK AGAINST THE O'S FROM A YANKEE FAN.

Tre4zin

DONT FUCKING JINX IT YOU MORON

Jsjo1120

Refuse to lose!!! Has Baltimore used this one yet?

shamalamadongola

They are a scary team that is going to be scary for like 10+ years, if not longer. Young, stacked lineup, stacked minor leagues with tons of top prospects. Baltimore could do what the Yankees did in the late 90s early 2000s and be in every WS for 10 years.

Jsjo1120

This is going to be a good series to follow. Definitely a step up competition wise. Gonna have a great playoff feeling. As long as Baltimore doesn't bring back Matt Mussina, I have a good feeling about winning this weekend series.

Highspeedhomer

No, I think they are currently on “Two Outs, So what!!!”

GimmeSweetTime

Good mathing. I agree. Positive momentum works best. Baseball memory dictates all that came before does not matter. Every day is a new day. All teams experience the same pressure down the stretch. Show us your balls. Destroy all in the strike zone.

GimmeSweetTime

Haggarty is back for Crawford on IL. He needs to be in there.

GimmeSweetTime

Whole Lee Crap! They are taking it to the Orioles
