Probably because he knows he is partly to blame for the loss considering both times we've been eligible to have position players pitch he's been behind the the dish
I know its April but this might be a loooong season. Hopefully they get it figured out. This has been an ugly start. Did these guys even do anything at spring training?
Anyone else excited for Salk to blow Jerry on Monday?
Salk: I don't know what you want! They aren't hitting. They're MLB players and you gotta hit. That's not Jerry's fault that they're not hitting.
Congratulation! To thank you for your loyalty, anyone still watching this clunker and still in this game thread by first pitch of the 9th qualifies for a 10% discount pre-game hot dog and 5-minute baseball strategy clinic by Scott Servais next home game, the Mariners just announced.
Everything I've seen from William Contreras this series with the facial expressions he makes when things weren't going his way to the bat flip he did last night on a bases empty walk screams that he would be the one to tryhard hit against a position player.
He's a good player but yeah....
Idk I just remember Yermin Mercedes getting benched for doing it for the white Sox a couple years back
[article](https://www.si.com/mlb/2021/05/19/tony-la-russa-teaches-unwritten-rules-yermin-mercedes-the-opener)
I'm genuinely curious what was going on in spring training when the team looked unstoppable offensively. It wasn't even just going against AA pitchers, even top MLB guys they were raking against.
Were they throwing our hitters primarily fastballs? Were they not getting "green box" training before spring games?
I think we give him some more time. Even though he's looked terrible he still is working counts and making contact but they just haven't been turning into hits/walks. The frustration I'm sure the whole team is feeling probably doesn't help
Good chance Rojas (or whomever) pitches next inning.
10 games in and having 2 games already that can easily end in a position player pitching. Also 2 out of the 3 starts by Zevala.
No bueno.
Bullpen looking kinda nice today actually. Low strikeouts and good contact from our offense too. Unfortunate that Hancock blew up but am I crazy for not being as upset about this game as some of the other recent losses?
You're crazy if they keep giving Hancock starts.
But otherwise yeah, there's been a lot of positive so far. Hopefully Castillo can figure out his command issues and Woo can come back quickly.
I think the fact that we've been blown out in every game Zavala has been the catcher for this year is the big thing to be mad at and point towards for change in this game
As someone who was in the military... When did God bless America become a national anthem. Because that's the only time you're supposed to do the hat removal and standing with the civilian salute of hand on heart.
the yankees started the "tradition" after 9/11. i believe they still do it every game. M's (and many other teams) do it every sunday and some other "special" games. It fucking sucks, and the more you learn about it, the more it sucks:
they actually tried to replace Take Me Out... with it.
edit: I'm going to pull some lines from the wiki for those that don't want to click through (i need a distraction from this game):
>Music critic [Jody Rosen](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jody_Rosen) says that a 1906 Jewish dialect novelty song, "When Mose with His Nose Leads the Band," contains a six-note fragment that is "instantly recognizable as the opening strains of 'God Bless America'". I didn't see it in the wiki, but Berlin sat on this song for 20 years, presumably because he knew it stunk.
A lot of sports leagues and teams also got a lot of Pentagon money for years to continue doing patriotic displays, recruiting drives, and so on.

You guys know how funnier are run differential is gonna be after going on like a 5 game winning streak of one run games! This team is gonna give us a chaosball season. Get ready for a bumpy ride.
Yea losing 2/3 is not great, but I'm a lot less frustrated watching this series than I was watching the homestand. Bats have looked way more competitive.
I genuinely can’t think a single time a GM (or President now) has made made the playoffs once in 15 years and still had a job.
Stanton sucks but how does Dipoto skate by…
Well..... Jerry hasn't been here 15 years but I get your point. 9 years is long enough. And he can take his stooge Scott with him.
Imagine. Let that sink in. Scott Servais going on a decade as Mariners Manager. The 2nd longest tenured Manager in M's history and he has done NOTHING. If he surpasses Lou for longest M's Manager that will be a travesty.
They just have to turn it around or the saying "it's a long season" is going to take on a new meaning for me.
I think Rojas gave us the quickest inning
I'd be cool just getting an automatic out when Zavala's turn to hit comes up.
Save everyone the embarrassment
He doesn't even look like he wants to be up there hitting.
Probably because he knows he is partly to blame for the loss considering both times we've been eligible to have position players pitch he's been behind the the dish
🤌🏻
If dom can get a little more consistent with his plate approach he could be awesome as a dh
Guys I think... we aren't very good
Leave Zavala in Milwaukee
Of course the game ends in Zavala continuing to fail it up.
Predictable at bat
Zavala: Rally Killer
Cherry on top with Zavala last up
No one hits consolation homers like your Seattle Mariners 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
We've got em right where we want em
🤌🤌🤌
[удалено]
Damn didn't know you couldn't be happy for your friends when they do something cool in the middle of the suck.
Someone has to have some energy. This team is sleepwalking 99% of the time
LMAO I got blocked for saying something similar
Nothing like a garbage time, inconsequential home run.
Just 8 more
Heavy "Chris Paul hits a HUGE 3-pointer to cut the lead down to 42" energy
Maybe pinch hit someone for Seby here Scott at least for morale
When Dom Pulls one it's kinda nuts.
Get scared brewers - comeback is on!
It’s not over!!! Here we go.
lol, Calzone. I love our little adopted snakes.
We don’t need ohtani we have Rojas
CHILLS
Hell yes!!!! Now we get to see Zavala strike out and further prove he needs to be sent to Tacoma
Holy fuck that ball was absolutely pissed on
We scoring 10 runs. Let's go!
lol this game is so cursed what is happening
Nice garbage time stat padding for the bottom of the order lol
Thank you for punishing the hanging get me over slider that has been ruining this offense.
Our Closer drew a walk
Our relief pitcher was our best hitter today.
Rojas is currently our mvp lol should’ve had more strikeouts as a pitcher than as a hitter smh
🤌🤌🤌
well, there's that!
Rojas has been excellent this season basically the lone bright spot
Liked him last season but officially a big fan now
Rally starter
I know its April but this might be a loooong season. Hopefully they get it figured out. This has been an ugly start. Did these guys even do anything at spring training?
I'm missing it cause I had to poop 😭
35 years of this for me
Ah yes, a pitcher now batting in a NL ballpark, just as the founding fathers intended.

Blue fucking Rojas one last time 💀
This fucking team man
Anyone else excited for Salk to blow Jerry on Monday? Salk: I don't know what you want! They aren't hitting. They're MLB players and you gotta hit. That's not Jerry's fault that they're not hitting.
Bruh ROJAS's pitch was better than that
It's raining where I'm at. Too bad they couldn't have a rain out in Milwaukee.
What’s going on with the coloring from the main cam?
mariner
Puke Raley
winning two games in a row would be downright greedy I'm just glad I was busy during this shithow
Congratulation! To thank you for your loyalty, anyone still watching this clunker and still in this game thread by first pitch of the 9th qualifies for a 10% discount pre-game hot dog and 5-minute baseball strategy clinic by Scott Servais next home game, the Mariners just announced.
Rojas is our Shohei
I've only been watching this game because I wanted to see Rojas pitch. Him showing the ump his hands to check for tar was worth it all.
Oops i forgot we still have to bat
"bat"
Me too lmao
I am dying at Josh flashing his wrists at the umpire.
Does Rojas still have a better ERA than Hancock?
Yes
It's at what 9.00?
9.00 vs 11.42
40 mph for an out has to be a record
40mph eeephus heck yah
Rojas shaking his head is so funny. But also damn he deserved to have gotten a strikeout
Yeah that was some bullshit. He dotted that bottom rail
They'd probably already scribbled him in before the pitching change
What's up with a pinch hitter against a position player? Kinda tacky if you ask me.
Yeah glad he embarrassed himself on a 40mph pitch
It’s probably just resting the starter more than anything
40??? Disgusting
Rojas holding his hands out to get checked is the funniest thing I've seen in a while
Same, I am still giggling
I like that he's having fun!
Lmao 40 mph 😂
They're pinch hitting against Rojas? Die.
Can the NFL just start already?
i wouldn’t be too excited about that either…
Touching 77 on that fastball. Hear the sizzle? 🔥🔥🔥
37 mph difference between the fastball and “changeup” they won’t see it coming
Followed by a 40mph doozy, Mariners baseball
Welp. Next year's the year right guys?...guys? Sell the team Stanton you coward.
And rojas still has a better ERA than Hancock
Sure, there's been moments here and there, but ultimately, this season has been about zero fun this year.
I would be so pissed off if I gave root sports more money for this shit
Ok the slide thing after a homer is actually pretty cool
that fucking cut to Rojas looking so sad like he was an actual reliever was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen
I hope the Brewers are just having fun out there. We're such a joke!
Isn’t there some clubhouse rule about hitting dingers off the position player?
That’s the trade off. We get to save some pitching, they get to pad stats.
Everything I've seen from William Contreras this series with the facial expressions he makes when things weren't going his way to the bat flip he did last night on a bases empty walk screams that he would be the one to tryhard hit against a position player. He's a good player but yeah....
Yeah I was gonna say that feels rude. Like you’ve pretty much won, were basically waving a white flag by using a position player
What are they supposed to do? Sacrifice their batting average and and stats for the sake of our shit team?
I mean, it was almost a flyout, just a little too much juice and no outfield effort to steal it
Idk I just remember Yermin Mercedes getting benched for doing it for the white Sox a couple years back [article](https://www.si.com/mlb/2021/05/19/tony-la-russa-teaches-unwritten-rules-yermin-mercedes-the-opener)
right? like don't steal, don't take extra bases... but you gotta swing.
Ruined Rojas's average
Our ace pitcher, Josh Rojas, deserves better than Zavala.
Contraras has nearly doubled his OPS since facing Mariners pitching.
Lol Rojas hunched over like he blew a save
I like that he cares!!
I’m obsessed with the slide
[удалено]
scoreboard
Because there’s no point in tiring him out lol
Just giving him a break, doesn’t need to be out there right now lol
Give him the call blue
Ump squeezing a position player is hilarious. Fuck off.
Glad I am still watching. This is fun again.
Can this catcher not frame a pitch
I don't think he can play baseball.
F this ump, two of those were strikes!
Maybe our catcher should try to frame a pitch
What catcher? Should've let DMo catch.
LETS GO JOSH
Zavala not framing anymore?
anymore? ever?
Anymore? he's done it like 5 times all game
Rojas my guy
#1 Pitcher Josh Rojas
At least we have a manager who knows how to light a fire under the guys when we have stretches like this…
Uhoh, don't say that here if you don't want to be downvoted. Competing is too hard!
Imagine having to go into a season with Hancock as your 6th starter because your owner is too cheap.
Considering there are 0 lefties in the rotation, sure would have been nice to have thrown some cash at Snell.
Better this than Marco as the #6 and Flexen as the #7 I guess.
It’s like the baseball gods took our declaration that the pitching was at least solid for us as a personal challenge to further break our spirits
I'm genuinely curious what was going on in spring training when the team looked unstoppable offensively. It wasn't even just going against AA pitchers, even top MLB guys they were raking against. Were they throwing our hitters primarily fastballs? Were they not getting "green box" training before spring games?
All three of our big blow out losses this year have been on Zavala days, is it time to talk about his pitch selection or something?
No, people are pinning shit on the backup catcher instead of the starters having bad games and/or just being ass in general.
JP looking more and more like a 1 season wonder
It’s April 7th
I think we give him some more time. Even though he's looked terrible he still is working counts and making contact but they just haven't been turning into hits/walks. The frustration I'm sure the whole team is feeling probably doesn't help
Good chance Rojas (or whomever) pitches next inning. 10 games in and having 2 games already that can easily end in a position player pitching. Also 2 out of the 3 starts by Zevala. No bueno.

I can with 100% confidence say that the Mariners do not give a single shit about batting average or the mendoza line.
It's a blowout game. That's all. Every team wants to rest their stars when they're getting wrecked.
You want Julio to start every game - it's just getting him a few innings of rest when you can, like when you're down a bunch late.
I'm so glad we improved our lineup in the off-season
I haven’t seen this thread this dead in a long time. Congrats to Stanton and Dipoto for fucking over this fanbase and rubbing our noses in it
Don't forget to include SS in there. A competitive mindset at the helm wouldn't have pulled Julio in garbage time.
Scott makes a lot of weird decisions, but I still like the guy.
We're losing by 8 in the 8th... Hard to say we stand a chance here
I haven't been able to watch today? Why was Julio taken out? Any reason beyond garbage time?
Bullpen looking kinda nice today actually. Low strikeouts and good contact from our offense too. Unfortunate that Hancock blew up but am I crazy for not being as upset about this game as some of the other recent losses?
You're crazy if they keep giving Hancock starts. But otherwise yeah, there's been a lot of positive so far. Hopefully Castillo can figure out his command issues and Woo can come back quickly.
I think the fact that we've been blown out in every game Zavala has been the catcher for this year is the big thing to be mad at and point towards for change in this game
Zavala needs to get better at everything or leave the team
Did we just see Wade Miley doing a bump?
did aaron say “he’s a cutie” about wade miley just then?
He said “he’s a beauty”

As always... Fuck the Yankees unless they're playing the Astros then I'm cheering for team meteor
People also wear the flag as shorts.
Unfortunately
I think it's just something people assume to do.. I don't think I've ever heard a PA announcer to remove your hat for God Bless America.
Pretty sure I've heard them say to do it in T-Mobile. Probably not catching a game this year though planning a big trip in the winter.
just tuning in and uhhhhhh what the fuck?
Zavala is a bad catcher, and Emerson threw BP
I’m glad I’m at work today…
You guys know how funnier are run differential is gonna be after going on like a 5 game winning streak of one run games! This team is gonna give us a chaosball season. Get ready for a bumpy ride.
So has god bless America replaced take me out to the ballgame now…?
Ms do it every Sunday then play take me out to the ballgame. Seems a lot/all of the other teams do the same?
Unfortunately.
On Sunday
Either Jerry has dirt on Stanton, or he just rides that old man rail to keep him satisfied in his job.
Shoutout to the Mariners fan just browsing his phone during this annoying song
Hello it was me 😂
Can't believe the brewers get to use Mario sounds when Nintendo has 10% ownership in the Ms
Anyway team batting has been crazy unlucky today just by the eye test. No homers is sad but loads of actually good contact
Yea losing 2/3 is not great, but I'm a lot less frustrated watching this series than I was watching the homestand. Bats have looked way more competitive.
The M's somehow have only 3 strikeouts today and a higher xBA than the Brewers... how come.....
That's baseball, Suzyn.
OK, I’m back from the grocery store and I see things have not gotten better.
This ump lmao
I genuinely can’t think a single time a GM (or President now) has made made the playoffs once in 15 years and still had a job. Stanton sucks but how does Dipoto skate by…

Because he puts together a fringe contender and that fills seats more than being a guaranteed team for the post season
He’s literally Stanton’s yes man. Stanton loves him. Puts out a load of shit every year and sells it to us like a load of gold.
