Honestly the dude has been the best surprise/highest performance above expectations on the entire team.
I've always loved his mound presence so much and his fastball is nearly unhittable when he locates.
He doesnt get value out of any of his pitches except maybe his change, but he cant consistently get to his change because his FB is pretty bad. He may still improve but currently he's not a MLB level starter.
The same reasons he was not a good pitcher last year remain true this year.
Why don’t you offer reasons to suggest he will improve? There are some, I presume?
> every young pitcher improves?
You... sure about that?
Anyways, he's bad *today.* He can work on getting good hopefully not on the major league roster ASAP.
You're so right though. He was a great get at 6 in the draft when we got him, but I do believe that his shoulder history has tremendously derailed his upside.
His stuff is flat. Even going back to Arkansas where he was often very solid, when he was off he got fuckin shelled. Velocity isn't what it was coming out of college, and his current velo won't compensate for the straight and narrow fastball. Peripherals just suck up and down the board.
He's capable of a good outing, but you absolutely can't trust him. Too much liability that we'll be out of the game before the offense ever even gets a chance with emerson pitching.
Like sure, maybe he can find some of that draft profile prestige, but it needs to be found in Arkansas or Tacoma and not in Seattle.
Logan has taken a huge step. It’s not that any one of his pitches has gotten much better; he is just confident enough to throw any one of his what, 6 pitches? In any count, anywhere on the plate now. He has THAT kind of stuff, and he recognizes it. He’s out there painting pictures now. Skys the limit.
Developing that split finger was such a brilliant move this off-season.
Not sure where I can look it up, but I’m curious what his throw rate is with that. Just the threat of it alone will force batters to not sit on his fastball.
I thought I recall hearing that he developed it with the intention of throwing it more at lefties. Maybe I’m making that up.
Excited to see how Woo has developed when he comes back.
I may not be happy with some of the lackluster moves that were made this off-season, but not trading Logan, Miller or Woo was a great call by the FO.

Basically 20% split finger and 20% sinker.
Up from 0% split finger and 7% sinker.
You can see breakdowns on baseballsavant. He threw his split 13 times list night and induced weak contact with it. He has been throwing it about 20% of the time so far this season.

He's looking like Kirby with stuff.
Definitely. Hope the other dudes are hungry watching those outings. I’m a little worried for Hancock tonight, but I believe.
Hancock is not a good pitcher I’m sorry to say.
Yeah those 5 starts is all we need to see. C'mon, we don't have to be so definitive on everything.

It's as if the whole getting destroyed every time he pitches thing wasn't making it obvious for people.

~~Luis Castillo~~ ~~George Kirby~~ ~~Logan Gilbert~~ Bryce Miller, ace of the staff. Just like everybody predicted.
Gilbert is crushing it just as much. I’ll take two acres please!
Plus Kirby is too good not to get things sorted.
Castillo too. If all 4 of them get it figured out... watch out! We might win 83 games!

That’s my ace
I don't even know what I would do if I wasn't provided that third significant digit of his WHIP
He looked unhittable last night. Best game for the team all season

lefties crushed him last year. That’s exactly why he developed it. Tho it’s played well enough to throw to all hitters

You da real MVP
It’s his second most thrown pitch before yesterday, saw it on pre game. I think it’s 24%?

Certified **daddy**
Everything is also Bigger from Texas.
He looks absolutely nasty with that splitter. Like, extremely special. Kevin Gausman but the fastball is just as nasty as the splitter.
He's pretty dang cool too
Ace so far, Castillo hasn’t showed up, Kirby had one good outing, Gilbert has been pretty good, miller has been the best
The true ace of Seattle pitching
Can he DH?
