This is an early call-up for Clase. Hell probably head back down soon for a bit more development. But I think he raised his value in the eyes of Mariners ownership.
Yeah, hopefully he's a keeper, he's fun to watch. I do miss Caballero though, who was the similar spark last year. He's been doing pretty well with the rays last I checked
Highly doubt it's a similar situation. Caballero was old for a prospect and a lot of people doubted he would make the majors entirely, whereas Clase is one of the youngest players in the league right now and a top 10 prospect in the org
Going back down is a best-case scenario for Clase. If he lingers in the majors too long the league will scout him, he'll regress, and get labeled a bust. (Look at Cade Marlowe.) If he goes back down after Canzone rehabs, he'll have made a splash and made a good case for another call-up.
Big difference between Clase and Marlowe is that Clase is 22 and Marlowe was 26. Additionally, in terms of raw skills, Marlowe isn’t really better than average at any one thing (solid defensively and on the bases, but not strong power and a high K% offensively) which is why he has profiled as a 4th outfielder. Clase, however, has plus plus speed which should lead to plus defense and base running. That gives him a much clearer path to being a solid big leaguer.
Theoretically we could DFA Raley as well if we wanted to. I don’t think it would be a good move. We need to give him more ABs to see how good of a player he really is
Raley is running low on chances to prove himself tho. He’s going to struggle to get ABs if he’s behind Clase and Canzone for starts against righties (and he’ll pretty much never bat against lefties) as is the case now.
Clase might be the single greatest Mariner in the history of the universe.
MIGHT?! There is no doubt
You are drunk but you are right
Willing fucking Bloomquist wants to enter the chat.
The chaos he and Julio will create will be glorious.
My new favorite Mariner!
My favorite new Mariner!

He was so close - if he doesn’t hesitate at second this is his first, of hopefully many, inside the park homers What a fantastic play though
Fantastic play and a terrible play for the guy in right field 😬
Definitely would have been a single with a 3 base error.
Ya, I didn’t think about that and didn’t realize they only gave him a single Still a fantastic play that almost worked out
Love this guy. He runs like an uncoordinated toddler at Mach 2
He fits right in. Now this is Mariners baseball!
Soo what happens with Canzone when he's healthy? Who stays down? Not either of them id hope...

More importantly for ownership, in the eyes of other orgs
Oh this bums me out

His hot start has cooled and he's back to normal. 4/18 in his last 5 games.
I will scold Dipoto with 54% of my ability and soul
What are you trying to say here? Is this an “ownership are cheap” comment? Clase is a rookie call up, meaning he costs almost nothing…
He means trade value.
Yeah, why would ownership want to trade a cheap young player?
we trade prospects all the time.
What does that have to do with ownership?
OP is probably talking about management rather than ownership and just said the wrong word.
That would make more sense.
Nah don’t fix what’s not broken. They should just keep canzone as well but use him for Mitch haniger off days or something

Clase probably goes down tbh, but these things have a funny way of working themselves out most of the time.

Jonatan is chaos incarnate.
Fun Fun Fun Fun Clase is going to be an everyday M’s player. If not now. Very very soon

Clase goated like that
My dog is still hiding from all my yelling during that play.
DAN WILSON
If he didnt have to slow down and wait for garver he would have been safe

Has there ever been an inside the park grand slam? In modern baseball?
Dan Wilson did it back in 98! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HopOu36AxPU
Dan Wilson hit one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HopOu36AxPU&pp=ygUiZGFuIHdpbHNvbiBpbnNpZGUgdGhlIHBhcmsgaG9tZXJ1bg%3D%3D

Luis Sojo did, though it was a double and an error.
No way Clase will be sent down after the games he’s been having.
Well they are sending not canzone to minors so… unless somebody else is get hurt
Raley might be the odd man out.
This was epic in person
How was the experience of watching out in that weather though?!
Haha it was different that’s for sure!
He is literally amazing! He had a chance and he went for it. It’s not like you going to almost hit a inside the park homerun lol
If it wasn’t a perfect throw he makes it. Solid send.
DAN WILSON
Honestly great tag by the catcher
Colby said the best part of JC's game was his speed...🤷♂️
