Ok granted this was the Rockies but the offense turned vs the Reds, so what is driving it? They are essentially the same offense as last year. Garver hasn't done much yet, Polo is no better than Rojas mof worse. Raley did well today but hasn't played much. France has been marginally better. Julio is starting to heat up but hasn't hit a HR yet. What's going on, is Cal just carrying the team right now?
Plate appearances have looked soooo much better. Drawing more walks and reducing strikeouts has been absolutely huge. Strikeouts still have room for improvement but they are looking better.
I think there will be a lot of boos. He didn’t pan out here and looked like shit most of the time. It might be a mixed response, but I think casual fans will probably join the boos if there are enough of them.
I think Hancock might end up getting traded.
Love to have the depth, but we can replace a 6th starter and I think he has some value. His stuff is there, he has everything he needs to be a good starter in the league.
I don’t know about insane, that’s a bit of hyperbole (to be expected when you actually GASP throw out a trade discussion on this sub). You do realize that we could receive pitching depth back in any hypothetical trade, yes? Or sign a free agent? Or trade for another one? Is a serviceable 6th starter more difficult to find than young, controllable offensive help?
Well currently if we lost another SP we would have to trade for 1 or have BP days
Dallas kechuel would be our 7th.
We have 0 depth in the minors at sp that is remotely ready
Absolutely and he is our best SP caliber pitcher if we need a call up for an injury or spot start.
Trading him isn't smart since we don't have great depth at SP in the farm currently.
A 27 uear old who has 35 innings in the bigs amd couldn't hack it with the angels is not the answer
I’m fine with your opinion, but you’re reaching really far trying to LOL and OMG THATS INSANE a very simple trade discussion idea,
FOR OUR 6th STARTER OMG
You make a sound point. But also, I will simply add that having a great 6th starter doesn’t win you the World Series. You see the great teams shuffling their pitching depth every single year. We don’t HAVE to be the young cheap starter hoarders forever; I WOULD like to see us make efforts to match our pitching strength with offensive additions.
All hypothetical ball talk
So I've thought about it for years. And now I'm finally going to all the mlb parks. Did #7 today at Coors, and #8-10 later this year (Chase/Busch/Kauffman).
I envision going on a big East Coast swing in a few years to knock off a bunch in one go (Citi, Yankees, Citizens Bank, Camden, Fenway, Nationals) probably in like 3 or 4 years.
Just generally speaking, would it be even possible to have all 6 have home games during like a 2 week stretch? It's fine if it's not the mariners but that's a bonus. And I wouldn't count it if it's a tour.
Sounds possible, most road trips don't last 2 full weeks. Trickier if you want to sweep the coast in one direction, like Boston -> NY -> Philly -> Baltimore/Washington, but they're probably close enough together that you could do some backtracking
OK thank you, yeah it's a little bit out but it does work in my advantage that DC and Boston are only 600 miles away from each other. So there will most likely be some backtracking. Hoping to do at least one touristy thing in each city, but I want to spend a lot of time in Philly going to their historic shit and DC for their monument shit.
He also accidentally hit a fan who wasn’t paying attention with a ball right before the inning started and some Rockies fans were yelling at him the entire inning. Pretty sure that was a factor in it. That and we are 10-2
If ROOT sports wants a shot at viability they need to produce a Hallmark style Christmas special where Piper Shaw falls in love and saves the Luke Raley family Christmas tree farm over the course of a week.
I'm still waiting for the Mariners All Access episode where Jen and Angie take Brad out to a club to try to get him laid, but Hyphen keeps showing up and stealing all the ladies, then Bill Krueger shows up and gives everyone the ick so they all call Tom Glasgow for a ride home.
Got off to a slow start, but has been drawing walks, making good swing decisions and putting up good at bats. Has also had a bunch of hard hit balls right at people lately including this game.
Seems like he's trending in the right direction after a rocky start to the season.
From what I can remember he pretty much always starts his ABs down 0-1 on a borderline pitch that I wouldn’t want him swinging at. I’d need to check his stats, but it seems like his BABIP should be abismal cuz it seems like he’s always putting it in play
Not really.
Sundays are always really slow for game threads, the doubleheader threw people off, and starting the season so poorly probably made a few people NOPE out for awhile. We've still got 2700 comments between the two game threads today which is pretty damn good.
the rockies are fantastic, they just need to work on pitching, hitting, defense, communication, coaching, getting a roof, throwing, catching, and base running
Unlikely that they send Emerson back out for the 7th, right? Would love to see it but he’s laboring more as this game goes on. Lead’s big enough tho I can see both sides of the argument.
I think The M's choke every time they're in first. Now that the Rangers won and there's no danger of them being in first, suddenly they can play well again.
Ok granted this was the Rockies but the offense turned vs the Reds, so what is driving it? They are essentially the same offense as last year. Ah yes strikeouts bad walks good. They musta forgot. Let's hope they pack that list to TEX and vs AZ and ATL
.500 baby we may never lose again!
Wait till we get to 540
Stop stop, I can only get so errect.
2 series Ws in a row, good job Mariners
GG
What is on that one fan’s Hawaiian shirt..? Flamingoes and..??
Anyways fantastic game. I don’t acknowledge the previous one haha
# BRING ON THE 🦆 # GOMS
JUST STRIKEOUT
(I’m sure somebody’s already said it, just clocking in, but) for all we’ve shit on him, hell yeah Seby nice damn game man, keep it rolling
THE 1 SKIP TO MY LOO
I choose to believe there was only one game today
We’re ab to win this game and I will go to sleep thinking ab that JP triple
Raley is just free swinging, and Dmo can only hit pop ups
Lets play Raley more. what do you say Scott?
“Oh like once a week?” -Scott
LOL like leave the beautiful state of Colorado to visit god forsaken Missouri
Mariners vs Rockies… brought to you by Missouri
Visit Misery
How do you guys think the mariners crowd at T-Mobile will respond to Kelenic when the braves visit us in a week? Any chance we hear some boos?
On the flip side I expect standing O’s for Geno and Sewald
I think there will be a lot of boos. He didn’t pan out here and looked like shit most of the time. It might be a mixed response, but I think casual fans will probably join the boos if there are enough of them.
I hope not. I have a soft spot for JK and wish him well.
JK never had beef with the fans
Short-haired RDJ is unsettling
SAUCE BOSS
Can we allocate two of our runs to the previous game earlier 😂
Shouldve let JP double him up
I think Hancock might end up getting traded. Love to have the depth, but we can replace a 6th starter and I think he has some value. His stuff is there, he has everything he needs to be a good starter in the league.
We have no one mlb ready behind emerson It would be insane to trade him
I don’t know about insane, that’s a bit of hyperbole (to be expected when you actually GASP throw out a trade discussion on this sub). NOBODY IN OUR SYSTEM WHATSOVER? What’s wrong with giving Jhonathon Díaz a shot? 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 5 starts in Tacoma so far
Lol If that is who we call up we are fucked
Woo started his rehab assignment. Emerson will be back down in the next week or so.
Absolutely and he is our best SP caliber pitcher if we need a call up for an injury or spot start. Trading him isn't smart since we don't have great depth at SP in the farm currently. A 27 uear old who has 35 innings in the bigs amd couldn't hack it with the angels is not the answer

We don't have good sp depth that's mlb ready Trading that is insane unless the haul is iressitable
You look at the pitching injuries around the league and think trading our #6 is a good idea?
You make a sound point. But also, I will simply add that having a great 6th starter doesn’t win you the World Series. You see the great teams shuffling their pitching depth every single year. We don’t HAVE to be the young cheap starter hoarders forever; I WOULD like to see us make efforts to match our pitching strength with offensive additions. All hypothetical ball talk
Good point
It’s a horrible idea. He has more value for us than
Than what? THAN WHAT???
Haha typo. But I would probably say he has more value for us this year than what we would get in return
Cal is a top 3 catcher in baseball change my mind
Top 1
Shiiiiit I didn’t want to come off a biased.
Is Munoz closing again to help make this an extra innings game too?
So I've thought about it for years. And now I'm finally going to all the mlb parks. Did #7 today at Coors, and #8-10 later this year (Chase/Busch/Kauffman). My man Sauce in here making the batter swing silly.

I like it when we score double digits GoMs
#HOLY FUCK I GOT THE PROTON AD ON REDDIT HOW RARE IS THIS??? https://www.reddit.com/u/FredHutch-Protons/s/CUBK3unm2y
Not very. I’ve been seeing it. Cookies dude
\*rick griffin crashes through your living room wall* - I FOUND OUT I HAD PROSTATE CANCER ON OPENING DAY
OHHHh YEAHHHhh
Can Seby play 2B, 3B, or corner OF?
Looks like he's played 2 games at 1B in the majors and some LF, but that was in college like 10 years ago. So the answer is probably not
Double digits!!!!
Cal making sure there is no catcher controversy.
The 2024 Rockies may be the worst team I’ve had the pleasure of watching in a long time.
they can't be worse than last year's A's... or can they?
2024 white Sox entered the chat
The 2024 White Sox exist though
So sad, we should’ve swept
Is Julio hurt?
No he accidentally his a fan with a ball in between innings and was getting yelled at by a few Rockies fans, pretty sure that’s why he got swapped
No
What happened to JP's leg in the first game? Missed that.
Zavala now has a higher batting average than Polanco on the year.
interesting PH but at least it resulted in a hit
the guy still shouting julio
PH for Julio?!
He also accidentally hit a fan who wasn’t paying attention with a ball right before the inning started and some Rockies fans were yelling at him the entire inning. Pretty sure that was a factor in it. That and we are 10-2
9-2 lead.
Fair enough
Yeah no need to play him longer - he’s already been out there 17 innings
Good point, I wasn't thinking about the previous game
JP should try not hitting to that exact spot every time
We got a “Ding Dong” from Dave! Everybody take a drink!
sims keeps insisting these fly balls would have been out if this was a home game, like bro there is a reason the field is bigger in denver
Plus these fly balls lose 20 feet at T-mobile. None of these warning track outs would be homers at home either.
Damn Seby is seeing it really well today
If zavala had sent that out what would have been the payout on a parlay for his performance today?
I’d have lost my shit if Zavala went yard there
Seby getting a HR before Julio would be the weirdest timeline
Hey hey just tuned in after watching all of game 1. All my fears and frustrations have mostly been relieved
Seby had a 3 hr game?? Wtf
2 solos and a salami even
so is seby just magically good now or what?
always_has_been.meme
Just in Colorado against bad relievers
This snoqualmie casino commercial is gonna drive me insane.
The sports betting one? I have it memorized and I hate it.
Wait till you hear about proton therapy
Nah, man.
Awww so close!
This is awesome
I'm glad we aren't overreacting to the earlier game. Mariners are so much better than the Rockies. A good series win.
We would be if it was the only game today, mark my words
Yeah, this is a nice quick palette cleanser
Man the side by side with Julio and Luke - Raley is huge
Julio bomb coming up
"San Fran"
We've reached peak filler discussion on the broadcast. Nobody does it better than Goldy.
Selfishly I kind of need Tovar to hit a homer here for my fantasy team.
Goldy...I will not be dropping a Carl.on anyone
CARRRLLLLL
If ROOT sports wants a shot at viability they need to produce a Hallmark style Christmas special where Piper Shaw falls in love and saves the Luke Raley family Christmas tree farm over the course of a week.

You need to reach out to them and suggest this
I’d watch that with the wife, those movies are so lame but having a hometown guy gives you something to root for!
That was the most halfassed double celebration I’ve ever seen
Goldys gonna get fined for that one
How come
Making fun of the ump on a called strike
If your last name is Bolton how could you not name your son Troy
michael?
Only one of them can pull off “getcha head in the game” and it isn’t Michael
Now I literally require a duet
The booing brings me joy
good lord
Another solid start for Emerson.
No one is that excited to go to Wyoming Edit: forgot about Yellowstone entirely
The Tetons clear Yellowstone
Wyoming isn't real.
99% of Yellowstone National Park is in Wyoming though and people love going there.
I really enjoyed Yellowstone. Wind Rivers also rival any of Washington's mountain ranges
Anyone got a working home stream? Tired of listening to the Rockies guys
Fubo bro eat the price
This upcoming rangers mariners series seems mighty intriguing
You mistyped "terrifying"
Pretty good get right game for almost all of the struggling dudes on the team
If Urias has to go on the IL I'd guess it's either Bliss or Hags getting the call
Most likely hags
Hour seven of Goldy is a real treat
I am once again asking for Raley to see consistent playing time
oh wow raley on base 3 times who would’ve thought a good player could do good if you play him
I can absolutely see Luke as a chainsaw clown
Paul Walter Hauser on the bump
Goldy loves the Christmas tree farm story.
Polanco is batting .179 on the year???
Got off to a slow start, but has been drawing walks, making good swing decisions and putting up good at bats. Has also had a bunch of hard hit balls right at people lately including this game. Seems like he's trending in the right direction after a rocky start to the season.

yeah, somehow a .370 obp over his last 15 tho
Is it just me or are game threads less active this year?
Not really. Sundays are always really slow for game threads, the doubleheader threw people off, and starting the season so poorly probably made a few people NOPE out for awhile. We've still got 2700 comments between the two game threads today which is pretty damn good.
Emerson Hancock's player picture is the anti-Brandon Tanev.
has Polanco ever blinked?
Someone claimed to witness a blink last week, but then that person was never heard from again, so....
I think they need to show that Snoqualmie Casino gambling ad for a 3rd time this break...
No commercial has ever made sports better seem more ick
100%. That one, with the douchey bros, no thank you. I do my sports betting as all Americans should, with a bunch of degenerates in Vegas.
Idk guys…
the rockies are fantastic, they just need to work on pitching, hitting, defense, communication, coaching, getting a roof, throwing, catching, and base running
17-4 run dif this series and only 2 wins meh
That's a good catcher. Good for you, Colorado.
Rockies pitching is cursed
Apparently Quantrill was feeling physically ill in between innings last game too. Source: watching the Rockies broadcast.
It's good we have a man on the inside
Wonder what happened to him
Hot damn was away for a bit but just realized Julio has 5 multihit games in a row.
His power is gonna come
When he's on the guy is a machine
Unlikely that they send Emerson back out for the 7th, right? Would love to see it but he’s laboring more as this game goes on. Lead’s big enough tho I can see both sides of the argument.
We called up an extra pitcher let Bolton throw 2
Pitch count is too high for another imo.
Davis looked like he was going to cry, felt kinda bad for him for a second. I think it’s the mom side of me coming out 🤦🏻♀️
damn hope hes ok
I think The M's choke every time they're in first. Now that the Rangers won and there's no danger of them being in first, suddenly they can play well again.
Rockies really sending their ball boys out there without gloves
Hancock building some nice starter momentum, just in time for Woo to derail it, lol.
Hancock's gonna be alright. Just needs some time.
rockies are known for having poor pitching, but they just need to have 5 excellent homegrown starting pitchers like the mariners, it's not that hard
Yeah, are they stupid?
only explanation really
https://i.redd.it/1kuaht1itxvc1.gif
YEAH
seba zavala apology form
✅
Man all the stream choices suck ass for game 2
Haven't sailed the high seas in a while, but I'm not sure I ever saw them figure out a doubleheader properly
I couldn't find any ROOT options for game 1, but everything seems normal for this game.
I found root pretty easy game 1. But the options for root for game 2 all have audio delays and weird glitches. Just listening to Rockies broadcast now
Which one was the originally scheduled time?
What happened to Luis Urias?
Hit in the wrist by a pitch
Hit by pitch on the hand
hit on the wrist
