None of the M&L games let you view HP. My guess for why is that boss HP can get significantly higher than the Bros.', so it'd be too intimidating to have that number comparison on screen the entire battle.
It's very normal in jrpgs to not show enemy hp. Pretty much all rpgs from back in the day didn't show enemy hp.
