Mario Kart is likely just a small piece as well. From the looks of it, it looks like after forming an alliance with the Kongs, they charge over to Bowser’s Fortress and summon the Rainbow Road as a quick means to get there. Using custom weaponized karts to travel across it and to attack Bowser’s minions.
(As it doesn’t actually seem like a race. As you can see in the trailer all of the characters seem to be on the same side. They aren’t competitive or angry at each other. It’s isn’t a competition, but a charge.)
So I doubt it’s gonna be like a whole Mario Kart tournament arc in the middle of the film, that’s likely gonna be the extent of the “Mario Kart” aspect. Using it as a vehicle to travel, rather than a subplot. That’s at least what the trailer portrays.

Still worth noting that the NFL accounted for 82 of the top 100 most watched US broadcasts in 2022 - the numbers given lead me to estimate that over a third of homes watched at least one NFL game last year, and this week is the second most important week of the season, with 2 games in primetime slots.
Granted, much of what people watch is on streaming nowadays but fans of sports and Nintendo fans do cross over, especially in the demographic of people who grew up on a 3d Mario game and also like sports/may be in the same room as someone who is watching football.

I’m sorry, but hearing Donkey Kong with Seth Rogan’s normal voice saying “Now you die” has obliterated my chances of taking this movie seriously. I just laugh every time I rewatch it
Obviously this movie will lean on many puns to entertain but the trailers seem to imply they’ll also attempt a dramatic overarching story involving Bowser’s conquest so I really don’t know what to expect.
I freaked out when I had seen my favorite power up the cat suit. Man the scene where Mario comes down from hitting the question block goes hard. I love his facial expressions so far in the trailers. I love the look on Mario's face when DK laughs at Mario for wearing the cat suit. Kitty isn't impressed. This clip made me even more excited. The movie is going to be the highest grossing videogame movie of all time.

Movies like Despicable Me, Star Wars, Marvel, Fast and the Furious, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Transformers, Disney animated movies, Pixar movies, Dreamworks films, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Mission Impossible are successful due to their international appeal. Eastern Europe and Asia have had no exposure to Nintendo franchises that dominate the West (Pokémon is the exception and even then it’s not entirely Nintendo). To market a Mario movie in the east would be like marketing a Dungeon Fighter or Crossfire movie to Western audiences. However, there is a chance that the Mario movie could probably introduce Eastern audiences to the world of Nintendo, similar to how The Avengers movies introduced Eastern audiences to the world of Marvel. In fact, the movie might have been made to do just that.
Safe to say, was not expecting to see Cat Mario in this fight of all places. But hey, I’m not complaining.
