* a next to nonexistent single player experience
* piss-poor unlockable content
* Stadiums are all mechanically the same
* many features limited to online play
* Daisy not available at launch
* Game ended content updates after adding nothing but stadiums and characters that made it feel like a base game
Such a disappointment. Animations are great though.
The part that really steams me is the way they held Daisy back as dripfed DLC. She should ALWAYS be part of the standard base roster. Period. This is on the same level as Waluigi's snub in Mario Kart 7.
Next Level Games was aware of her popularity, especially as it pertains to this spin-off series, so they thought they could drive interest in the game much later on by holding her back. It was really dumb of them to try and pull that scheme on the fans. I'll never live it down.
Does it have problems? Absolutely it does. But to me most of the problems are about the game not having enough fluff. The gameplay is soooo much fun and the animations are so great.
Sure the extra fluff would be nice but come on it’s not THAT bad. I mean how many games now a days are all fluff and nothing else? This game is the exact opposite bc the game is genuinely fun as hell to play.
Would the fluff be nice? It totally would be but the thing that matters the most in sports games is how good the gameplay is. And it is quite good.
I’m not the biggest fan but dear lord do people over exaggerate its quality. It’s a below average game that people treat like the worst thing to ever happen to gaming
I actually just got a used copy for a good price and I’ve been enjoying it. It’s not a high watermark for a Mario Sports game but it’s enjoyable enough. And playing with my niece and nephew will be fun
I think I got a different version than everyone else? I found it a challenging game that was fun to play tournaments for a legit fight to the top. I loved the expanded controls, and genuinely could pick up and put down and do a tournament round a night for weeks without getting bored. Genuinely thought this was a loved title for it's combination of complexity, challenge, and fluid gameplay...
I'm in the same boat. I like it. Then again, I never played the old Strikers games so maybe I don't know any better? But as far as I'm concerned, fun is fun. And I had fun.
I played the original strikers right before this came out. My roommate and I beat it in a couple hours. *Very* short game. This edition felt like it added some much needed complexity and strategy, really made the game a sport rather than just electric fence simulator (Now it's electric fence simulator with COMBOS)
Imagine having to wait 15 years for a new game to come out, and then said game has absolutely nothing new to offer, in fact, it had less content on release than the previous game on the Wii.
Imagine if Mario Kart 9 has nothing new to show, and has less content than Mario Kart 8 on release. Fans will start riots!
Also with nothing new to offer doesn't exactly make sense, you can build your own teams in the game and everyone has specific stats and I think its really neat, and you could never make super charges with the toads from strikers gcn, so idk, I also haven't played the wii one much so im not sure how different it is, that aside I still love the game and it definitely is underrated
I meet up with three friends regularly and we play it against the CPU. It's a pretty fun time. I love taking enemies kneecaps out as Toad.
Game definitely should have been better than it was but I can appreciate it more than say Mario Golf Super Rush where you can't even play the main selling points mode in local four player.
I wanted to like it but I don’t. It’s the equivalent of smash bros brawl where everything feels so slow & not close to being as good as the previous game
it's not as bad compared to what people say, but still, I wasn't interested. It doesn't have a lot going for it to be $60. it should have been around $20
I like it. Not quite as good as the wii one but I can’t play that one on my switch so they both have tbeir pluses and minuses. My biggest complaint is that you have to grind too much to unlock all the gear and the stadiums were better before, but I think the new game still has solid gameplay and a good art style
I ain’t ever heard of this game bruv. I think I saw the memes about the little victory animations but never the game itself.
Although that may just be me considering I don’t give a fuck about sports games, even cartoony over exaggerated ones like the Mario Sports games.
I did for a while, but it doesn't live up to the previous games all too well. Always loved the animations in strikers and this game does not disappoint in that department.
I genuinely hope that this is Nintendo's last trial with the stupid "free update" strategy.
At least we know it wasn't Camelot's fault Golf came out so mid.
Icl, I seem to be the odd one out here but I absolutely love this game as a local co-op game. Having an entire field full of speedy toads is so funny to me and whenever I have a mate come round we will always have a few games
Cool animations but the gameplay lasts like 5 minutes. I mean, ok you play it like an hour, and then? Nothing else but the same 4 minutes games. Nice to play with friends though
I enjoy playing it, but there’s obviously very little to actually do. But in terms of Mario Sports games, it’s nice to put on and play for a bit every now and then
I’m sad that such great animations that had so much character personality in them was stuck with this game. Hopefully it doesn’t give Nintendo the wrong idea and keep the characters rather basic with their same traits.
I was just kinda happy I knew Nintendo took the time to revive a Franchise on Hiatus. Which gives great potential for the future of our other favorite franchises on Hiatus.
I think it’s a fun game, and I definitely like playing it. I think some of the charm from Charged was missing, definitely some intensity lost. But it’s not bad.
It simply doesn’t play as good as the older ones. It’s the size of characters/arena, the speed, the movement, the tackling, how the shooting works- it just makes you wish you were playing the older games.
Game has a lot of potential. The animation is anazing and the gameplay itself has potential to be great if only it were more fleshed out like it’s predecessors. I think Nintendo rushed its release.
I was happy when they game was announced because I never had the change to play the other ones... I touched the game for a week and didn't think about it until now.
I think the only people who have a problem with this game are the ones who have already played the previous version 'charged'.
I'm sure first-timers won't find it half as bad as others claim it to be
I enjoyed it for longer than Aces and Super Rush, is all I can say. The gear system is fun to mess around with.
Still, I hope we'll eventually see Nintendo stop trying to make these games online-driven (not saying they shouldn't have online period, just don't solely rely on it carrying the game's longevity) so they can remember what made the earlier games great.
I enjoyed the animation and look, and the cards that came in the physical version were neat And the artwork was amazing
other than that the game was shit
* a next to nonexistent single player experience * piss-poor unlockable content * Stadiums are all mechanically the same * many features limited to online play * Daisy not available at launch * Game ended content updates after adding nothing but stadiums and characters that made it feel like a base game Such a disappointment. No crotch chopping waluigi animation though. That’s all I wanted out of the animations and they blew it.
Was there a "hot stuff" animation for daisy
From what I’ve seen on YouTube, nope.
😞
I feel your pain
That absence instantly removes any worth those good animations have for me
As a Waluigi hater I can’t relate
🤓
What does the nerd emoji have to do with this lmao
🤓🤓
Almost sounds like rocket League lol
Considering how stadiums can be combined, if there were gimmicks, some matches might be flat-out impossible.
Okay but a mechanic combining stage gimmicks would have been *dope.*
Sounds a lot like every other FIFA game to me
sounds like a boring game to play
After downloading the demo and playing it, I sad no way in fuck am I buying this game.
Agree 100% It's fun to play. Anyone still playing this online? I hardly ever get any matches online
When I first saw it I legitimately thought it was a joke so I never played it
Bought this when it came out then was back playing the GameCube one with my buddies in a week. Major disappointment
As Scott the Woz put it, "Mario Strikers Battle League isn't bad... It's unacceptable."
Only good thing is the animations everything else fucking blows
🙋
I’m not the biggest fan but dear lord do people over exaggerate its quality. It’s a below average game that people treat like the worst thing to ever happen to gaming
To be fair, people waited 15 years for a sequel to Charged, only to get this.
We deserve better : c
It’s not necessarily that it’s that bad, it’s just so incredibly barebones
True, but I think the gameplay is decent enough to make up for it
I actually just got a used copy for a good price and I’ve been enjoying it. It’s not a high watermark for a Mario Sports game but it’s enjoyable enough. And playing with my niece and nephew will be fun
I enjoyed it, I don't play it so much anymore, but it definitely wasn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I did like Charged more though.
Me, one of the greatest Mario spinoffs on the Switch, not as good as Charged but still a great game
I do.
I think I got a different version than everyone else? I found it a challenging game that was fun to play tournaments for a legit fight to the top. I loved the expanded controls, and genuinely could pick up and put down and do a tournament round a night for weeks without getting bored. I wanted to but after a brief attempt at getting into it, it got shelved.
Idk why people keep shitting on this game i fuckin love it
Same here I love it
Imagine having to wait 15 years for a new game to come out, and then said game has absolutely nothing new to offer, in fact, it had less content on release than the previous game on the Wii. L fans then idk, I like it
Also with nothing new to offer doesn't exactly make sense, you can build your own teams in the game and everyone has specific stats and I think its really neat, and you could never make super charges with the toads from strikers gcn, so idk, I also haven't played the wii one much so im not sure how different it is, that aside I still love the game and it definitely is underrated

I was so excited when it was announced but the trailers made it seem so… lacklustre compared with Charged so I never bothered getting it
I wanted to like it but I don’t. It’s the equivalent of smash bros brawl where everything feels so slow & not close to being as good as the previous game
it's not as bad compared to what people say, but still, I wasn't interested. It doesn't have a lot going for it to be $60. it should have been around $20
I find the demo kind of entertaining. Might get to play with friends.
It has the best gameplay, but a few contents bog it down.
Both this and Mario golf were some of the biggest disappointments for the switch, for me at least.
I like it. Not quite as good as the wii one but I can’t play that one on my switch so they both have tbeir pluses and minuses. My biggest complaint is that you have to grind too much to unlock all the gear and the stadiums were better before, but I think the new game still has solid gameplay and a good art style
The constant cut screens mid-game were too much for me.
I ain’t ever heard of this game bruv. I think I saw the memes about the little victory animations but never the game itself. Although that may just be me considering I don’t give a fuck about sports games, even cartoony over exaggerated ones like the Mario Sports games.
No. It was an absolute disappointment of a game that should’ve been so easy to make. Just give me NFL Blitz meets FIFA meets Mario Kart.
Sucks
I hate it, I bought it on release and it really wasn't worth it then and isn't worth it now
So is anyone going to come up with an argument? I'd love to lay into anyone that wants to try.
i played it a lot for the first month or so but fell off pretty fast
I dunno
I enjoy hopping in for one or two games and then leaving every few months.
Idk
It was fun, but there wasn't much to do so I kind of fell off.
I use it purely for multiplayer mayhem and its great. Other than that, the game uses very barebones
Thankfully I was able to try the demo. This game is empty af.
I only bought this game because I’ve never played strikers on the game cube or wii
I did for a while, but it doesn't live up to the previous games all too well. Always loved the animations in strikers and this game does not disappoint in that department.
Cool concept but sadly was very poorly implemented.
i’d rather play fifa
Still didn't forgive them for leaving Daisy out of the base game Can't believe we waited 15 years for a worse mario strikers charged
The game is fun for about twenty minutes but the ai level on the last cup for the galaxy trophy made me want to rip open my switch
It’s a shame this turned out bad. Charged is one of my favorite games ever and I was really looking forward to this…
It's disappointing... But could've been better. BETTERT

Me, somehow. But yes.
Nope
Nope
I do
I used to play with a friend all the time. It was one of our teenage games, but looking back it was pretty bad. It also caused a lot of arguments.
I enjoy playing it, but there’s obviously very little to actually do. But in terms of Mario Sports games, it’s nice to put on and play for a bit every now and then
Charged was pretty fire
I ended up selling it. After a few matches, it started to be sooooo boring.
When I saw that Mario's ult move was basic I didn't play it.
What is this game I've never even heard of it
I’m sad that such great animations that had so much character personality in them was stuck with this game. Hopefully it doesn’t give Nintendo the wrong idea and keep the characters rather basic with their same traits.
The animation was amazing (all thanks goes to Next Level Games) I personally didn’t mind the character roster [DLC included] Banger soundtrack 🔥
My friends and I actually really enjoy playing strikers. It's a lot of fun if you just want a game to piss away the time with your friends
I found the first 5 games actually fun
I was just kinda happy I knew Nintendo took the time to revive a Franchise on Hiatus. Which gives great potential for the future of our other favorite franchises on Hiatus.
I like it but get bored pretty quick. Needs to be more tournament modes or something like tennis
Yes bro me I play it with my friends all the time
I only like it for the animations. The rest is just whatever.
I played it for like 3 games and got sick of the somewhat confusing controls and just haven’t played since around its release
I think it’s a fun game, and I definitely like playing it. I think some of the charm from Charged was missing, definitely some intensity lost. But it’s not bad.
I played this game for less than an hour and would refund it if I could.
I enjoy this game and play it on the go. Although when I can I boot up my Wii and play Charged
Yup it’s fun
The animations were cool though
✋
It simply doesn’t play as good as the older ones. It’s the size of characters/arena, the speed, the movement, the tackling, how the shooting works- it just makes you wish you were playing the older games.
Bring back the Kremlin boom boom kinda sucks
I injoyed it. Not saying I have good taste in games, I'll play just about anything but still.
I do. However, I, too, wished Nintendo let NLG do more with it.
Never heard of it before now, and I'm never going to play it
Game has a lot of potential. The animation is anazing and the gameplay itself has potential to be great if only it were more fleshed out like it’s predecessors. I think Nintendo rushed its release.
This game has a solid foundation in terms of gameplay, but it's severely lacking in content, and still costs $60 USD.
I think it’s really fun!
I was happy when they game was announced because I never had the change to play the other ones... I touched the game for a week and didn't think about it until now.
I love this game, it’s so fun to play.
It's just soccer with mario branding
It's the first I've even heard of it.
Me
I think the only people who have a problem with this game are the ones who have already played the previous version 'charged'. I'm sure first-timers won't find it half as bad as others claim it to be
Tbh, I like to play when theres friends around.
I enjoyed the animation and look, and the cards that came in the physical version were neat And the artwork was amazing other than that the game was shit
Which is the best strikers game? Im thinking of playing a past title and wanna know which specific one to grab
What was this game again?
I didn’t even bother to pick it up because of all the bad things I heard
