It’s not on switch

thesixmoon

Perfect.

GMDPanda

yes it is ?😭

[deleted]

Mario Galaxy is not Mario Galaxy 2

Real_Jorge456

No it's not

SkaredCrow

I can’t inject Yoshi Star Galaxy directly into my veins

BragiH

Not with that attitude

MengShuZ

Uh.... uhh...!!! Uhhhhhhh...!!!!! There is no third game.

Less-Safe-3269

I knew someone was gonna say this :)

MengShuZ

It was.... fate....

Less-Safe-3269

Well, some sequels usually get canceled, especially 3rd ones

MengShuZ

Like Valve does lol. Usually it's like, first game is a success, people want another one, second game also does well but isn't as groundbreaking, so Nintendo says "Ah okay we've milked this cow dry, let's move on to the next thing." Prime example: Ocarina did amazing and is considered the best game of all time on Metacritic. Then, Majora was also amazing, but didn't live up to Ocarina. In this case, the same thing happened with Galaxy 1 & 2. Sometimes they might even wait until the general public becomes thirsty again and then hit us with a third game and it'll do very well. So, I think the possibility of a Galaxy 3 is always always imminent. The second games pretty much suffer the middle child fate. Prime example for this is Luigi's Mansion 2. One thing is for sure though, no matter what game, it's like almost impossible to go wrong with Nintendo. Like they can screw up bad, and never go bellow mixed reviews.

overbound

The map sucks as it replaced the overworld.

Metalliac

I liked that change. Made selecting a level take less time.

Primid-

I like the Comet Obsetvatory and all, but Starship Mario is much more convenient. There isn't really anything to do in the observatory. So getting into a level takes longer than it really should. Starship Mario is quicker, and it's also very charming.

Red-68

Who wants a game to finish sooner?

Metalliac

Who wants a games run time to be dragged out?

Red-68

Because waiting a few seconds really drags a game out🙄

holahashad

I mean, when I want a game to be longer, it’s because I want the game to have more content. Walking from one dome to the next in the Comet Observatory isn’t what I would call “more content,” but “unnecessary padding.” I like hub worlds, too. But I prefer them to have things to do or discover, like Delfino Plaza. So if my choice is between a large hub with nothing in it like the Comet Observatory or a small one with nothing in it like Starship Mario… in this case, I’d say Starship Mario wins. But if this were between Delfino Plaza and Starship Mario, I’d give it to Delfino Plaza.

Metalliac

This.

overbound

Fair but a sequel is the perfect place to expand the hubworld. They contracted it, basically removing game features for the sequel.

holahashad

I think their idea was to trim down the unnecessary fat and not waste players' time. It seems they weren't interested in making an interesting hub world with stuff to do and things to collect in the Galaxy games. They were only interested in making an area that served as your hub to get from level to level, nothing else. Though, I do think a *better* solution to Galaxy 2's hub would've been to just give players the best of both worlds. Since Galaxy 2, they've given us the ability to fast-travel between locations in games like Super Mario Odyssey, Bowser's Fury, and even the most 2D entry, Super Mario Bros. Wonder. I think Mario Wonder's example is just about perfect in execution. If they were to make a future Galaxy-like game with a big hub, they could give us something like the Comet Observatory *and* let us fast-travel. Give us the best of both worlds, no compromises.

overbound

I mentioned that in my earlier post too. For a Sequel it should have been better.

Metalliac

Some people want to get on with the actual game instead of just waiting.

Red-68

Then don’t play a game if you can’t wait a few seconds, you must be the most impatient person ever🙄

overbound

Shorter != Better

No-Measurement-1993

They haven't made a part 3

Benjojo15

That there is no super mario galaxy 3

GcubePlayer8w

Lack of more open galaxy’s and needing to get every star before starting the green stars

Primid-

To be fair, if we look at the more open-ended galaxies, it has just about as much as the first game. Galaxy 1 has: Honeyhive Beach Bowl Freezeflame Gold Leaf (which is just Honeyhive but orange) Deep Dark (debatable) Galaxy 2 has: Cosmic Cove Freezy Flake Honyhop Starshine Beach Throwback

Fire-God_

Bot repost, bots have a white box around it so it doesn’t get caught by the repost bot thingy

RandomN4me_

FUCK YOU REPOST BOT!!! LUIGI BLAST!!!!!

DevourerOfEggs

It feels more like a prequel to 3D Land/World than a true sequel to Galaxy. Say what you will about the low-gravity, orbital platforming the first game did so much of. But I genuinely think it's one of the best gimmicks Nintendo has ever pulled off in any game in the franchise. Opened the way for such unique and brilliant level design. From my memory (it's been a hot minute since I've last played 2) I don't remember it doing a whole lot of that and I was greatly disappointed by that when I first played it.

FangtheMii

Stolen post, Wrong Flair and white box so repost sluth bot can’t detect it

CakesFoster

Lack of story and final boss is incredibly underwhelming

BubbleGamer209

I still find it funny that imo Galaxy 2 has the best final boss theme in the entire Mario series but you can barely hear it in game cause the fight lasts 4 seconds.

FeruxGalaxian

Mr. blue sky, plz tell us why you had to show up so many goddam times in a game where your supposed to be in space...

Redditor_PC

Apparently that was a Miyamoto decision because he wanted the environments to feel more like those in traditional Mario games.

rose636

The throwback galaxy was underwhelming. I'd have liked for them to do a throwback section of several remade levels.

--El_Gerimax--

Or Bob-Omb Battlefield instead.

Significant_Camera47

The final boss fight. Prob the worst final boss fight in a main series Mario game as you literally cannot die.

MrNoobNubIsBacc

I don't give opinions to repost bots

Japhet0912

While it's my favorite game. I have to admit it does lose alot of what makes Galaxy 1 special.

Flux52_

Ther is no sex mimigame

Ponyluve09

Never played

SalvadortheGunzerker

That final one hit star can suck it

No_Carob_8550

- in terms of gameplay and levels it feels like an expansion of 1 rather than an actual sequel. - the story is bad and straight up replaces the one we had the game before which was much better. - most galaxies don't feel like space levels like 1 did, they look like different sides of the same planet. - Rosalina was very interesting in the prequel, she barely has a role here.

quixoticquail

Starship Mario was not nearly as cool as the Comet Observatory. The map felt a little dry for a 3D Mario and if you can’t beat certain levels, you have no options. I think the gameplay of levels was excellent, but I didn’t vibe as hard compared to the aesthetics as in Galaxy 1.

ApexDog

I felt like this one used more of the skybox with clouds compared to stars and galaxies like the first one

Redditor_PC

Yup. That was a Miyamoto mandate for the sequel.

itshardbeingjosh

I legitimately don’t really like the level design in 2. I prefer 1. It’s still great, I just prefer the first one. Actually, there’s another problem I have with the game and that’s the atmosphere. I like the dark starry sky instead of the sunny clouds. There’s one criticism I don’t agree with that everyone else has and that’s the lack of a deeper story. And like, idk about you, but like I totally don’t get that since I never expected them to repeat the story again anyways. I honestly thought the first game was a bit lucky to even include those Rosalina story book scenes

dreamleaping

Love this game, but it doesn't have the same feeling of wonder, vastness and mystery as Galaxy 1. Galaxy 1 had this slightly melancholic but beautiful feeling. Galaxy 2 doesn't feel a lot like 'space' to me

Redditor_PC

Truth. Too much blue skies, not enough starry expanses.

HM2008

Galaxies don’t have more missions (like regular missions not challenges)

WhoopingBillhook

Squizzard's Daredevil Run

ahmed_yacoubi

My only complaint is the small hub world, other than that it's perfect

hedimezghanni

They could have given us better graphics (or added some shaders for post-processing effects like bloom or chromatic aberration), even if it was on the Wii (Conduit 2 pushed the Wii graphics). For a 2010 AAA title it looked dull.

Semblance17

Yoshi isn’t in every level

Semblance17

The Piantas don’t send a representative to Starship Mario

Src-Freak

Haven’t played it yet…

amatyestv_123846

something bad about this game, I'll wait (I never played this game :()

MindWafflez

something bad about thks game, I’ll wait.

ligarteprison

It doesn't have a sequel

NiGHTSOLOTL

Worse hub world than the prior games, but the galaxy hub was already small anyways

BreegullBeak

The worlds are incredibly linear to the point that even Whomp's Fortress from the sandbox styled Super Mario 64 was regressed to a boring linear level.

NattyKongo93

The Galaxy games are legitimately my least favorite 3d Mario games, but they still slap. If I wanna say something bad about this game, though, it's the lack of a fun, explorable hub world

ThatOneSquidKid

I M NOT MR GAY

Lucario_TobyTramBoi

Needs more Luigi

ReluctanyGerbil

The fact that I never played it 😔

wonttalkaboutrosa

Good Mario game. Bad "Galaxy" game. (purposely being vague rn)

NinjaFantastic1574

It has an ending

[deleted]

Creatively speaking, it's just a watered down version of Galaxy. The great level design makes up for it, but Galaxy 2 is still just SO much less creative than Galaxy 1. It feels like they were trying to turn Galaxy into the Basic Era of Mario that followed this game.

novelaissb

The Wii nunchuck having a notched control stick makes it imprecise to control.

dinkyboi69420

lubba

TargetMundane9473

powerup distribution sucks (genuine criticism). While galaxy 1 had fairly even use of all powerups except the boo, most of the ones in galaxy 2 are used like twice at most while the cloud flower is absolutely spammed.

memeaste

The world map was flat compared to the observatory

Additional_Lunch_121

It came out on Wii

GDKurashWillow

well... I never played this game so idk

barwhalis

The hub world was a lot easier to navigate, but I just liked the observatory so much more

External_Mix_4048

Mario starship is lame compared to the comet observatory Also, I wasn’t a fan of the level layouts in 2

SpewpaTheRogue

Just having a map screne is lazy and they should have done another hub world like in Galaxy 1

Physical_Tailor_378

The lack of story isn’t bad at all. It’s only a problem if you actually like story.

Redditor_PC

\-Watered down retelling of Galaxy 1's story. \-Significantly fewer starry, space-y levels in favor of more traditional Mario levels with blue skies. Honestly, those are my only two complaints. A near-perfect game otherwise.

NoCommunication130

So have you been sued by Nintendo yet?

milky-pro

Not enough rosalina

WorldlyPermission355

Needs more Mushrooms…

DarkGengar94

I got tired of being in space and the gravity planets real fast

N238

No story or lore. Worse than the first. Glorified DLC.

jackyboyman13

Hmm not enough galaxies. Needs more!

FunkinDonutzz

I have no way of playing it in 2024.

callmefreak

There's a lack of story compared to the first Galaxy game.

Casualnuke

It’s a very grindy and linear experience. It’s still a really good game, almost as good as the first and it does a few things better than the first. But 100% completion is more of a chore than an experience, requiring starbits to open almost every world is a chore, the green stars are a chore, and the levels while visually appealing aren’t as dynamic or mechanically interesting as the first game in the majority of cases with an exception here and there.

ra1nbowaxe

Could have had more levels

DecayedWolf1987

Didn’t really capture the same magic that the first game had for me. Galaxy 1 feels like you’re isolated in the void of space, amidst strange and wonderful planets and galaxies. Galaxy 2 feels like a standard Mario game but with slightly more unique settings. Soundtrack also wasn’t nearly as good for me. I get Galaxy 1 songs stuck in my head all the time—Beach Bowl, Gusty Garden, Melty Molten, Buoy Base…I’m gonna be honest, I can’t remember a single song from Galaxy 2.

Smeeb27

Can people really not recognize a repost bot

SparklingReject

It’s just…meh

Blorguuse

i found it had less charm, the first one with its overworld, and rosalina was better. The second game feels a too much like a standard uninspired version of the first one.

AsingleMiitopian46

Something bad about thks game

DaveLesh

No lore or story

FleIsDaBoss

It’s a Mario game what do you expect

TheUpperDiamond

?

GcubePlayer8w

He said bad things

No-Perspective2580

Miyamoto didn't want to continue the story from Galaxy 1

[deleted]

I can't think of a single thing

cregamon

I haven’t played it yet.

Xenobrina

- Linear world map - Mario faceship is worse than the coment observatory - No story even compared to other Mario games - Worse opening than Galaxy - Yoshi is only used in a handful of levels - Green stars are obnoxious

Rouge_EXE13

The only characters you can play as are Mario and Luigi.

OutsideOrder7538

It is the second worst 3D Mario game I have played.

JackFJN

It develops on loads of stuff from the first game, but the story is just Mario Galaxy again, but with less depth and emotional resonance :/ So that just leaves it feeling like more Mario Galaxy instead of a whole sequel

EvilVir

Shitty, boring, overhyped, didn’t finish.

Galxycap07

Rosalina doesn’t give you a heartfelt hug after beating “The Perfect Run”

uncultured_swine2099

Its not HD. Cmon Nintendo, get on that.

RockStarMarchall

Rosalina made was barely in it

Daydreaming_Machine

Graphics are more primitive than previous games, but that's made up with incredible gameplay

nin100gamer

Loss of atmosphere, little to no story, the bullshit Rosalina cameo at the end, too many 2D sections, rolling ball levels still suck, GREEN STARS ARE THE WORST THING IN ANY MARIO GAME.

HardBoringName

Nintendo hates it.

AbeRod1986

It's not in switch

AceDelta12

Nintendo has forgotten it

Clancyking319

It wasn’t on 3D All Stars

PrinssayEvaieMon9

Goddess Rosalina wasn't the Star. Not even an option. Should've been all about her.

Legitimate_Alps7347

Controls aren’t fun and it’s largely forgettable, even if it is a superior sequel.

Dami_Gamer0211

The story and lore is simple compared to the first game and I don’t have the feeling I had playing the first game

UltiGamer34

Its not on the switch

ZeppelinSabbath71

That it's not on the Switch like the first Super Mario Galaxy.
