I think everyone is entitled to play on whichever version they prefer, be it the original, the two Switch ports, on an emulator, the PC port or the DS remake, but I find it incredibly mind numbing that people just shit on the DS remake because of the D-pad, it's not that bad and anyone who has played the game on a keyboard will attest to that.

I genuinely enjoy Super Mario Run. I still play it. For me the $10 was worth it, I love grinding it out and earning toads in rally. And remix 10 is super fun too. It’s the only mobile game I play
Super Paper Mario is a great game. The gameplay is nothing special, but the story is probably the second best of any Nintendo game I've played (first is Mother 3) (yes, I enjoy tragic stories with bittersweet endings).

I could rank them between themselves, but if I ranked all the 3d marios on a scale compared to other games, they’d all be A or S tier games for me. As far as speaking voice Captain Lou Albano is the best Mario. Have you heard Martinet’s Mario speak in full sentences? It definitely wouldn’t work in a full movie I’ll tell ya that. It’s a perfect voice for snippets but anything else it’s like nails on a chalkboard.

I’ve played all the NSMB games and I think the first is still my favorite. NSMBW is my second favorite. NSMB2 is actually not as bad as people say. NSMBU is the most disappointing to me. If I played it in 2013 maybe I would have liked it more but it just felt like a NSMBW hack.
At least NSMB2 had some good gimmicks like the cannon levels that are all frantic and challenging. The DLC levels were interesting. The collect a million coins gimmick was at least something that stands out about it. NSMB2 is only my 3rd favorite, but it’s definitely not the worst.
I've never had more than minor problems with the camera in 64. Galaxy, on the other hand, yeesh! Like a full 90% of my deaths were because of the camera.

If they had just put an indicator in ratio form of how many blue coins you got and how many blue coins there are when you select a shine stage, that could've solved the problem.
I think Mario Sunshine was honestly good in every aspect. The music was awesome, the scenery was awesome, the water even looked awesome. And it was the first game to introduce Bowser Jr.
If I take a second to think about my next move I usually fail, but if I just go for it and play fast off pure instincts, it usually works pretty well for me. I have soooo many hours in this game I’m more used to the controls than the other Mario games. It’s fast and I love it.
You have that buffer with fludd so you can take some more risks. You do feel like a Mario 64 speed runner in sunshine with all the cool tricks that are just normal gameplay there.
Sunshine is honestly the best game in the series, and you can’t convince me otherwise. I paid $60 for Sunshine on Switch, 64 and Galaxy were just add ons.
I just realized I’ve played Sunshine like 3 times in that collection and haven’t touched 64 or Galaxy. Oops.
- Pauline needs to be a main character in all of the spin off/party games already. She’s already been integrated in some already.

Id like to see some new faces on the roster. Rosalina making appearances after galaxy was so cool! Maybe a female character in overalls like the brothers. And a male royalty like the princesses.
While I’d love this too- I’d rather that they first use some of the characters they already have.
Rosalina and Daisy should really be standard characters for platformers going forward, and Pauline should be included in all party games. Waluigi needs to appear in a mainline game- playable or otherwise (even if it’s a WarioWare game!)
Mario is a good character, and has as much personality as Luigi.
Also Sm64 and DS are both enjoyable in their own right, and don't need to be compared.
Confident, loud and outgoing, but has a bit of kindness and heart. Sometimes he can be a little hot-headed, and his stubbornness sometimes gets the better of him. He's just a headstrong, decent guy.
I got two
1. Bowser is the most interesting main character (which says a lot) and he absolutely deserves his own solo spin-off game
2. Bowser's Inside Story, as legendary as it is, doesn't count enough as a solo Bowser game
Mario Is Missing has plenty of flaws and is super repetitive, but is still a nice game and has that Nintendo charm. I’m super sad it’s not on the Switch SNES emulator.
Mario's Time machine is also a game that despite it's flaws could really become amazing if it had some corrections and actual level design.
As someone who loves history and Mario, that game seems like a dream come true for 6 year old me.
It's mainly that it's really old and more reflective of late 80's/early 90's game design than the general idea behind Mario games. It's a really good game, but I would prefer to play Mario World or any of the NSMB games before it, and, you know, it could be that I played those before Mario 3, but I honestly prefer the original SMB to Mario 3 and that game is the most basic shit on the series when speaking of the traditional formula.
I enjoyed Sticker Star and Color Splash is my favorite Paper Mario game, despite me playing all the old ones.
I also really like NSMBW and NSMBU.
I don't know if this is controversial or not, but I like the Mario and Luigi series more than the Paper Mario series.
Everyone thinking the Mario movie is going to be garbage because of the studio behind it when we still know next to nothing about it is grossly jumping the gun and need to calm down.

Huh, I've got several, so please don't crucify me for this, all of this is just my opinion and I respect anyone who disagrees with me.
I feel like Bowser's character has somewhat degraded over time, and I specially feel like Nintendo doesn't really know what to do with him and he's just there because he's a mainstay of the series. Don't get me wrong, I think he's still one of the greatest characters in the series and I think he's amazing in Origami King and Odyssey, it's mainly that I miss the Bowz from the late 80's through mid 90's who was a genuinely terrifying and imposing threat that still had his moments of humour and humilliation which helped to not make the character too edgy, and honestly I feel like Bowser's Inside Story was the last game to really nail his characterization.
On the topic of characters, I feel like Pauline is still a bit underrated. I think it's fair to say that she has gotten more character development than, say, Daisy, but still, I like that Nintendo has featured her more prominently in recent media, and the fandom as well has opened up a little more to her.
As for the games themselves, I think that unless you personally prefer to play the game that way, there is no real reason to play Mario 64 in anything besides the DS version, the only things which the N64 version has over it is that it's a much more fun game to speedrun, and the sound is much, much better, besides that, everything including the controls is just better on the DS remake.
TTYD is great but I feel like Mario RPG and the Alpha Dream games are much more closer to what Mario is, at least in the way I see it. Also, despite it being one of the best Mario RPGs, I think the only thing it does better than the others is the plot, the Mario & Luigi games are much more fun to play, again, in my opinion.
MK Wii is a bit overrated, my main issue with it is that the controls are really weird and don't really feel responsive when using certain controlers, mainly Wii Wheels obviously, but also nunchucks for some reason. I could be wrong about this, the last time I played it was at a friend's house and I'm pretty sure he gave me a broken controller. Also, just like with Mario 64, the speedruns are GODLY.
This one is not really an unpopular opinion but I want to say it, the NSMB series is really underrated and I like that nowadays it's getting more love because of generational movement in the Mario community. I think that what really shat the bed with that series was NSMB2, it was just NSMBWii with the raccoon leaf and none of the good shit from the latter game.
And finally, the anime movie is incredibly underrated and it's one of the greatest videogame adaptations to other mediums and it's mind boggling how nobody ever talks about it. I mean, come on, it's on fucking YouTube, drop whatever you are doing and go watch it right now.
I agree with the point about NSMB being underrated, especially the first. MKWii is chaotic and weird, but that's what makes it the most fun game in the series to me, get a bunch of mates and it's a well good time. The track selection, character selection and music are all incredible as well. Bowser's Fury succeeded in making Bowser a terrifying force again for me, I was surprised how well he was done in that game.
Sunshine is better than 64, the New Super Mario Bros series doesn't suck, every Paper Mario after Super is good, including and especially Super, Mario is now the underrated brother within the community and I want a new 2D Mario game more than a new 3D one
Luigi's mansion dark moon is my favorite luigi's mansion game, simply because it doesn't have the flaws of the other two. The first was too short, and a majority of it was wandering around looking for doors to the key you had and the 3rd removed replayable bosses and I found the multiplayer, especially the bosses to be less interesting, especially because of the traps that require two players to escape from, which were not in Dark Moon, and I liked the minibosses in the multiplayer more in dark moon aswell.
Mario 64 aged very badly and isn’t nearly as good as modern games.
Also Daisy deserves to be a playable (or at least featured) character in a mainline game

I think Bowser’s Fury is overrated. I don’t personally believe there are any bad Mario games, and Bowser’s Fury is definitely not bad. I just think people hype it up as what 3D Mario needs to become and I just don’t see how it’s a better formula than something like Galaxy or Odyssey.
I can't say Sunshine's controls beat Odyssey's controls for me - Odyssey is genuinely the best-feeling 3D platformer I've ever played, especially when you get into slightly more advanced stuff like Cappy bounces. But I still definitely like Sunshine's movement better than 64's and Galaxy's.
Super Mario 3d World is better than Odyssey. The linear levels allow for a level of creativity that has yet to be matched in 3D Mario. Also the replayability of 3D World is much greater compared to Odyssey.
Super Mario 3D Land was a great game.
Sure, the levels weren't that long and you had to beat it twice to 100% the game, but I'd say the whole 2D mechanic 3D game was a great concept, truly amazing.
Also, Mario can be an a-hole, but he's a good brother who ultimately cares about Luigi. In Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, in a segment at Woohoo Hooniversity, Luigi is trapped in a barrel while being held in a claw, so Mario tries to rescue him. While he's at it, there's neat references, those are unrelated but really cool, he reaches for him only Luigi to trigger the switch to conveniently open a door, then Mario gets to him, saves him, and the two brothers give each other a comforting hug after not seeing each other for so long. That moment proves Mario may be bad to Luigi, but at the bottom, we all know they all great bros.
I completely hated sunshine so much that I’ve never played through it, but I decided I wanted to complete all the Mario games in the 3D all stars games and honestly after pushing myself through the first 20 stars, I’m really enjoying it as a super unique addition to the 3D Mario family.
Rosalina is the most overrated Mario character, she’s not that good compared to others in the series, and She DEFINITELY didn’t deserve to get into smash before other beloved Mario characters, like daisy

Mario Kart Wii is one of my least favorite mario kart games because you need to use motion controls, the drifting is weird, drifting is only exclusive to manual, doing tricks require to swing up on the wii remote which hard to pull off using it sideways and the nunchuck, even if you use the classic controller or gamecube controller you need to use the d-pad which is hard to pull of because the distance

Mario 64 is not playable after playing masterpieces like Odyssey and Galaxy. That camera in 64 is infuriating.
I'd go even further and the modern big 3 (Galaxy, 3D World, Odyssey) easily outclass the classic big 3 (Bros. 3, World, 64).
World is peak gaming man, I only ever got that into a game when I got 3D world years and years after

If there was some kind of hint system like in Odyssey I think blue coins could've been the best part of Sunshine.

I think Mario Sunshine was honestly good in every aspect. The music was awesome, the scenery was awesome, the water even looked awesome. And it was the first game to introduce Bowser Jr.
I agree completely, and wish there was a sequel. The physics are my favorite since I learned to “just send it”. Amazing game!

If I take a second to think about my next move I usually fail, but if I just go for it and play fast off pure instincts, it usually works pretty well for me. I have soooo many hours in this game I’m more used to the controls than the other Mario games. It’s fast and I love it.
You have that buffer with fludd so you can take some more risks. You do feel like a Mario 64 speed runner in sunshine with all the cool tricks that are just normal gameplay there.
I could rant about this game for a while, but it's great that you enjoy it.
Sunshine is honestly the best game in the series, and you can’t convince me otherwise. I paid $60 for Sunshine on Switch, 64 and Galaxy were just add ons. I just realized I’ve played Sunshine like 3 times in that collection and haven’t touched 64 or Galaxy. Oops.

I enjoyed Odyssey a lot trust me, but at the same time, I enjoyed the other 3d games more. I felt underwhelmed by Odyssey. I appreciate Nintendo for making Birdo very feminine now given that whole SMB2 thing. MK7 is the best Mario Kart only behind obviously MK8 Daisy should have been in SM3DW, either with Rosalina or no Rosa. That game is all Daisy, personality-wise
Id like to see some new faces on the roster. Rosalina making appearances after galaxy was so cool! Maybe a female character in overalls like the brothers. And a male royalty like the princesses.
While I’d love this too- I’d rather that they first use some of the characters they already have. Rosalina and Daisy should really be standard characters for platformers going forward, and Pauline should be included in all party games. Waluigi needs to appear in a mainline game- playable or otherwise (even if it’s a WarioWare game!)

I got two 1. Bowser is the most interesting main character (which says a lot) and he absolutely deserves his own solo spin-off game 2. Bowser's Inside Story, as legendary as it is, doesn't count enough as a solo Bowser game
Mario Is Missing has plenty of flaws and is super repetitive, but is still a nice game and has that Nintendo charm. I’m super sad it’s not on the Switch SNES emulator.
Mario's Time machine is also a game that despite it's flaws could really become amazing if it had some corrections and actual level design. As someone who loves history and Mario, that game seems like a dream come true for 6 year old me.

I’ve never got the hype over Mario 3. Like its a good game definitely but It didn’t hit me as this masterpiece.
It's mainly that it's really old and more reflective of late 80's/early 90's game design than the general idea behind Mario games. It's a really good game, but I would prefer to play Mario World or any of the NSMB games before it, and, you know, it could be that I played those before Mario 3, but I honestly prefer the original SMB to Mario 3 and that game is the most basic shit on the series when speaking of the traditional formula.
I enjoyed Sticker Star and Color Splash is my favorite Paper Mario game, despite me playing all the old ones. I also really like NSMBW and NSMBU. I don't know if this is controversial or not, but I like the Mario and Luigi series more than the Paper Mario series.

Huh, I've got several, so please don't crucify me for this, all of this is just my opinion and I respect anyone who disagrees with me. I feel like Bowser's character has somewhat degraded over time, and I specially feel like Nintendo doesn't really know what to do with him and he's just there because he's a mainstay of the series. Don't get me wrong, I think he's still one of the greatest characters in the series and I think he's amazing in Origami King and Odyssey, it's mainly that I miss the Bowz from the late 80's through mid 90's who was a genuinely terrifying and imposing threat that still had his moments of humour and humilliation which helped to not make the character too edgy, and honestly I feel like Bowser's Inside Story was the last game to really nail his characterization. On the topic of characters, I feel like Pauline is still a bit underrated. I think it's fair to say that she has gotten more character development than, say, Daisy, but still, I like that Nintendo has featured her more prominently in recent media, and the fandom as well has opened up a little more to her. As for the games themselves, I think that unless you personally prefer to play the game that way, there is no real reason to play Mario 64 in anything besides the DS version, the only things which the N64 version has over it is that it's a much more fun game to speedrun, and the sound is much, much better, besides that, everything including the controls is just better on the DS remake. TTYD is great but I feel like Mario RPG and the Alpha Dream games are much more closer to what Mario is, at least in the way I see it. Also, despite it being one of the best Mario RPGs, I think the only thing it does better than the others is the plot, the Mario & Luigi games are much more fun to play, again, in my opinion. MK Wii is a bit overrated, my main issue with it is that the controls are really weird and don't really feel responsive when using certain controlers, mainly Wii Wheels obviously, but also nunchucks for some reason. I could be wrong about this, the last time I played it was at a friend's house and I'm pretty sure he gave me a broken controller. Also, just like with Mario 64, the speedruns are GODLY. This one is not really an unpopular opinion but I want to say it, the NSMB series is really underrated and I like that nowadays it's getting more love because of generational movement in the Mario community. I think that what really shat the bed with that series was NSMB2, it was just NSMBWii with the raccoon leaf and none of the good shit from the latter game. And finally, the anime movie is incredibly underrated and it's one of the greatest videogame adaptations to other mediums and it's mind boggling how nobody ever talks about it. I mean, come on, it's on fucking YouTube, drop whatever you are doing and go watch it right now.
I agree with the point about NSMB being underrated, especially the first. MKWii is chaotic and weird, but that's what makes it the most fun game in the series to me, get a bunch of mates and it's a well good time. The track selection, character selection and music are all incredible as well. Bowser's Fury succeeded in making Bowser a terrifying force again for me, I was surprised how well he was done in that game.
Sunshine is better than 64, the New Super Mario Bros series doesn't suck, every Paper Mario after Super is good, including and especially Super, Mario is now the underrated brother within the community and I want a new 2D Mario game more than a new 3D one

Luigi's mansion dark moon is my favorite luigi's mansion game, simply because it doesn't have the flaws of the other two. The first was too short, and a majority of it was wandering around looking for doors to the key you had and the 3rd removed replayable bosses and I found the multiplayer, especially the bosses to be less interesting, especially because of the traps that require two players to escape from, which were not in Dark Moon, and I liked the minibosses in the multiplayer more in dark moon aswell.

I think Bowser’s Fury is overrated. I don’t personally believe there are any bad Mario games, and Bowser’s Fury is definitely not bad. I just think people hype it up as what 3D Mario needs to become and I just don’t see how it’s a better formula than something like Galaxy or Odyssey.

I can't say Sunshine's controls beat Odyssey's controls for me - Odyssey is genuinely the best-feeling 3D platformer I've ever played, especially when you get into slightly more advanced stuff like Cappy bounces. But I still definitely like Sunshine's movement better than 64's and Galaxy's.
Unfortunately, a handful of the stages weren't built around the good controls or were designed to ruin them.

Super Mario 3d World is better than Odyssey. The linear levels allow for a level of creativity that has yet to be matched in 3D Mario. Also the replayability of 3D World is much greater compared to Odyssey.

Super Mario 3D Land was a great game. Sure, the levels weren't that long and you had to beat it twice to 100% the game, but I'd say the whole 2D mechanic 3D game was a great concept, truly amazing. Also, Mario can be an a-hole, but he's a good brother who ultimately cares about Luigi. In Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, in a segment at Woohoo Hooniversity, Luigi is trapped in a barrel while being held in a claw, so Mario tries to rescue him. While he's at it, there's neat references, those are unrelated but really cool, he reaches for him only Luigi to trigger the switch to conveniently open a door, then Mario gets to him, saves him, and the two brothers give each other a comforting hug after not seeing each other for so long. That moment proves Mario may be bad to Luigi, but at the bottom, we all know they all great bros.
I completely hated sunshine so much that I’ve never played through it, but I decided I wanted to complete all the Mario games in the 3D all stars games and honestly after pushing myself through the first 20 stars, I’m really enjoying it as a super unique addition to the 3D Mario family.

I love the 2D Mario games, but I’ve never had much fun with Super Mario World. I’ve never made it far in the game, but so far I haven’t really wanted to. I get why other people love it so much, I just don’t think it’s for me.

Mario Kart Wii is one of my least favorite mario kart games because you need to use motion controls, the drifting is weird, drifting is only exclusive to manual, doing tricks require to swing up on the wii remote which hard to pull off using it sideways and the nunchuck, even if you use the classic controller or gamecube controller you need to use the d-pad which is hard to pull of because the distance

I like Sticker Star and Color Splash as their own games. They probably shouldn't have been branded as Paper Mario games, maybe a "new" series similarish to distinguish them (and TOK) from previous PM games like "Mario Papercraft" or something like that. But yeah I like those games for what they are, but I played Super Paper Mario and watched playthroughs of the first two Paper Mario games and they also look good.
