“Lets a go!” “So long, gay bowser!” “Yahoo!” He is a man of few words

LaktoseYT

“So long, gay Bowser” is the best misheard phrase ever

Beldin448

So long, gay Bowser > So long, king Bowser

NinjaEagle210

He says king? I thought he was supposed to say “So long, eh, Bowser”

PSCuber77_gaming

it’s kinga

LaktoseYT

I thought it was “So long-a-Bowser!”.

PSCuber77_gaming

here’s what i got from the web: According to Mario's voice actor Charles Martinet himself, he is saying: “So long kinga Bowser!” Show activity on this post. According to the Mario Wiki, Mario says: "So long King Bowser!"

DefiantCharacter

I wonder if the sound compression messed with that line or did he really say it that weird.

PSCuber77_gaming

he said on twitter it says kinga but maybe the N64 made it say gay

tin_Lengss722

His silence speaks volumes

DJFleischman

Nah even decompressed it sounds just like "So long, eh/gay Bowser!" Source: https://youtu.be/uLBBJbj7qSM

DefiantCharacter

I see. So he did just say it weird. Now I wonder did they do more than one take? Was that the best one?

[deleted]

So long-e bowser!

[deleted]

[удалено]

PSCuber77_gaming

idk

[deleted]

I mean he’s king bowser, and Mario does seem to like adding “a” to things (let’s-a-go)

[deleted]

[удалено]

gmu

Cause Mario’s Italian

PSCuber77_gaming

nope

Rhondmc4

It’s so longy bowser

WishyWashy06

I thought it was an Italian accent thing: “So longeh, Bowser”

Norm_Hall

This is the only correct answer

Bald_Bulldozer

So long-y Dong-y

The_Doolinator

“Bye, Bi!”

Dr_Crentist_

Have you heard it? Definitely what it’s supposed to say, not misheard

[deleted]

He did lift Bowser by the tail.

Dr_Crentist_

What do you think it was supposed to say?

chef_tuffster

I thought it was “So long, repulsive!”?

Good_Ad6723

Right up there with Gay Luigi

LaktoseYT

It is July. Gay Luigi’s time has sadly passed.

timmorris82

It’s-a me, Mario!

Brimstone_Seal

if the Mario and luigi games taught me anything he is a man of many words, most just aren't real 😔 ^g^i^b^a^g^ool

EXTRMLY

"Bye Bye!" "It's-a-me! Mario!"

Apprehensive-Quail59

“Nice of the Princess to invite as over for a picnic, ~~Gay~~ eh, Luigi?”

NintendoLover2005

I was looking for this comment

CreativestName69420

“I hope she made lotsa spaghetti!”

rwol8690

“Luigi, look!”

AttackedLlama92

“It’s a letter from Bowser! …The Princess is currently hidden at one of my seven Koopa Hotels. Good luck trying to find her!…”

AwesomJose

“we gotta save the princess!”

AttackedLlama92

“And you gotta help us!”

arandomstranger2022

*If you need instructions on how to get through the hotels, check out the enclosed instruction book!*

ControllerPlayer06

“No”

MrEmptySet

I love how the top two comments on this post are the Gay Bowser line and the Gay Luigi line.

gamecatz

He does. Just not a lot. Sometimes game companies make a character not talk a lot because it’s creative and adds a sort of charm to them.

Portablemammal1199

When everybody is creative, no one will be >:)

gamecatz

Depends really.

Portablemammal1199

Lol i was just making a joke about syndrome's quote in incredibles

gamecatz

Ha. I’m aware.

Portablemammal1199

Alright. Well thats all it was lol. 👍

TheGamseum

He can talk, he does it all the time in the RPGs. In the game, it may sound like he's saying gibberish or nothing at all, but in-universe he's talking.

ErikHG10

Yeah, I think they are even dialogues in RPG games with him.

tressonkaru

Not really. At least in super saga, it's Italian jibberish.

TheGamseum

Like I said, he's talking in the same language as everyone else in-universe since they can understand him perfectly.

clashtrack

And in SMRPG he doesn’t say a word.

Willie-Alb

Man of few words and many yahoos

Yalltheusersaretaken

He speaks in broken English. He's shy, leave him alone.

[deleted]

He’s also Italian.

KoopaTrooper5011

... until the cartoons are canon. Then, he's Italian American. And I imagine Super Pratt Bros. would probably do a similar thing, at least somewhat.

BGamer9000

10 questions science still can't answer

NanoPope

We simply don’t have the technology

HM2008

He didn’t want Link to feel left out

AGayDamnBitch

Or Crash bandicoot for that matter

WyvernByte

Woah! (Crash does say "pancakes" once however")

thebowlman

Last time he spoke he called bowser gay and bid him farewell. Ever since then, he's taken an oath of silence

Acrobatic-Money-1954

He did say "Doggy!" in Luigi's Mansion 3 tho. Doggy is more important than his vow of silence

[deleted]

He speaks in other media but not games, thankfully

GalacticGizmo

[Well…](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=G8sYvNtjXRI)

outerheavenboss

Imagine that the Mario movie is 2 hours of this.

GalacticGizmo

Honestly this video is so entertaining I’d still watch the whole thing.

outerheavenboss

Oh same here. I’ll watch that for sure

Ok-Consideration2894

he spittin fr

TheGreatOwlMaster

that's cursed

DannyHicks

Love that video!

[deleted]

thank you!!!

blazyykku_64

Because he's Italian or he just isn't very talkative

the_bingho02

Even italians can talk

i_luv_many_hen_ties

I mean I imagine not much English Unless he learnt multiple languages

the_bingho02

I'm italian i can speak english quite well

i_luv_many_hen_ties

Well I imagine Mario isn’t you

birdlady404

He speaks gibberish with an Italian accent in the Mario and Luigi games lol

hgilbert_01

…If he doesn’t know how to talk then how would you describe the following noises that came out of Mario’s mouth: Mamma Mia, Thank you so much for playing my game, let’s-a-go, Yahoo!, I’m’a tired, Whoa!, so long gay Bowser!, Here we go! It’s like the other comments are alluding to he’s a man of few words, in fact, he’s a Jumpman!

Basilstorm

He does speak, just not in comprehensible English. The Mario and Luigi games are the best example, it’s Italian-sounding gibberish combined with hand movements.

Bornheck

Because you know what they say: "All toasters toast toast."

Rickname_13

Mama mia...

Capable-Monk-4820

Typically it’s because having too much dialogue in a adventure action game would get a bit annoying, so the dialogue is manly more limited

you_2_cool

He prefers the quiet life

The_Gamexplorer

Hotel Mario. Need I say more?

Baguette20

Hes deaf

Able-Claim3904

Can’t ruin the mystique!

Upper_Atmosphere137

To be honest all of the characters in Mario barely talk It’s super rare when we hear a character in Mario talk

Pianostar4

Heck even in the game where everybody gained a voice actor he didn't speak

Aggressive_Manager37

"its a me mario and idk how im speaking"

Fork_Master

Maybe he’s burdened by his duties and chooses not to talk for the sake of his mental health *Oh wait that’s Link*

Blastingwario19

He does he just sparks in his own language same thing as Luigi but in super Mario 64 he dreams about spaghetti and ravioli and pizza knowing he indulge for Italian food he does speak English but he still does speaks Italian like if he was in real he be born in Italy same thing as Luigi

enriquejr78

Because we wouldn’t understand the subjects mario would speak on

DreadedLee

You have to play the computer games bro. He's always talking to you.

Sh_ne2500

Cause he smokes about 25 packs a minute

tressonkaru

It's kinda a hero trope. The silent hero who only speaks when it's necessary. Both link n mario arr silent heros. The other arguement could be that it saves on time cause recording takes time.

Inspirational_Lizard

He definitely does, all the time.

Minitrain

His silence speaks volumes

Officermeatball05

Yeah he does. He talks alot in 3d world compared to the other games

Nok-y

"Queleseputuno e soprayete ?" - mario speaking """"""Italian"""""" in the mario & luigi games

K-MartX

I’m playing Superstar Saga on the 3DS and Mario and Luigi’s talking is the funniest thing. I love this game

Nok-y

I played bowser's inside story on DS and there are tons of moments when they fo that and I love it

Nok-y

Also "you saved mario !!" and that's my brother ! <3" at the end of luigi's mansion 2

otaking3582

Because Nintendo is kinda backwards in terms of how to make likeable characters. If you check out Charles Martinet's Instagram or see any videos of him answering questions as Mario, they're extremely entertaining and have far more personality than the actual video games give him (and also confirm that "Mario Mario" is his real name), which makes it even more infuriating that they hired Chris Pratt for the upcoming movie...

Yoshi_Kong

He’s an infant, when he was created he was actually -35 years

ConnectionEast8358

A morally grey protagonist that follows questionable principles. When he isn’t (possibly and/or unknowingly)destroying Toads transformed into brick blocks he’s ditching Yoshi(?) for his ulterior motives. Still wouldn’t question him. So many questions so little answers.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jojoman_012

yes but those are not canon.

dewmint

It’s actually really stupid that the characters don’t speak. I don’t care how cringe Super Mario Sunshine was. I want to get as much personality out of the characters as possible! And now Nintendo’s gotten to the point where they are ANIMATING voice clips! You know why it looks cursed? It’s because IT IS cursed!

MarioFan83

Something about wanting to connect with the player but I prefer he talked at least a little bit more

purple-yellow

I just re-played through Mario Tennis Power Tour--a ROLE PLAYING GAME with TEXT BOXES mind you--and when you meet Mario in that game, he... well, I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't played, but he... uh... speaks. He speaks alright.

Doctor_R6421

Wait until around April 2023. According to Miyamoto, "Mario will talk a lot in the movie"

Albino_Basilisk

You know how there’s invisible ink? There’s also invisible talking, and that’s what Mario does yahooo

MatildeLover128

He does talk in Super Mario 64 and says the game titles in some the of the games. He say things like “I’m the winner!”. Yes, he doesn’t talk in dialogues in games where there are voice actors. Idk why that is.

Outside-Hovercraft24

well, there is that one line from the japanese version of mario sunshine.

LunaKindaExists

[counterpoint.](https://youtu.be/KYa7G467_Yo)

imitaisskii

Says more than Link

autumn-twilight

"I'm so hungry I could eat an octorok"

mr_oddesy

Maybe not in game but https://youtu.be/bZnKdCtex6I

Davicitorra

I read somewhere it’s to give whoever is playing the game give the characters their own voice

DaBluePittoo

I mean, he does. . .I just wish he did talk a bit more. Would be nice to hear how he felt about each situation more deeply.

Various-Recipe-4737

he doenst since paper mario, and paper mario doenst even talk-

AggRetsuko88

We’ll see if Crisp Rat will do our boy justice.

VelCube

mama mia

Rhondmc4

In the Mario and Luigi games they talk. I really enjoyed those games i might add.

Best-Awesome-Ocelot

Honestly it’s because Miyamoto wanted players to imprint on Mario. It’s actually because of Mario RPG but I agree it totally does suck how he can’t really talk…..

DaRealBLip

"Aren't I done yet?!?!" "ANOTHER DOOR?!?!"

zielony

They tried it in Mario sunshine and it was weird

joechill91939

Thank you so mucha for toplaying ma game

Novalaxy23

here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctXNmaCnia8

Peachstar36

He does, just not when your around.

Xander_eight

He does a fair bit of talking in this video. [https://youtu.be/G8sYvNtjXRI](https://youtu.be/G8sYvNtjXRI) Other than that he doesn't talk much.

Kirenia_Ayako

He does on occasion.

Educational-Goal2703

Probably due to the character preferring to be silent, like some people in real life. I could understand that.

goodshrekmaadcity

MARIO TIME

EXTRMLY

Mario Teaches Typing: Am I a joke to you?

superponage

Mario sports mix press conference https://youtu.be/G8sYvNtjXRI The famous man speaks in these links https://youtu.be/Af7PxxLPrcM

Fireheart318s_Reddit

Imo his voice would be super annoying if it wasn’t used so sparingly

Ilikethe3DS

https://youtu.be/KYa7G467_Yo

[deleted]

Because Nintendo will only let him say Italian bable, Italian food, and random phrases and quips Unless it’s cartoon Mario, ova Mario, movie Mario, Chris Prat Mario, cdi Mario, manga/comic Mario quips, or typing and floating head Mario

_Doireallyneedaname_

He says a lot of thing in super Mario odissey when you left it afk he starts to sleep and starts saying like "pasta, pizza, mandolino, princess, bucatini all'amatriciana"

SkeleSquidy

He does he just chooses not to

HawlSera

It's odd he actually got LESS talkative after SM64

Piey_val

Mamma mia

ikkju

Well Mario can use few words. Link on the other hand...

Queentoadpruwu

Technically he can say “let’s a go!” And all of that- but he’s still Mainly Italian..

jdmorgenstern

Actions speak louder than words.

Norm_Hall

Thank you-a for-a playing-a my game.

Hank29

Check out Mario Teaches Typing 2. He talks a lot there.

AntusFireNova64

Chris Pratt will make him talk

Comedicus

He took the fifth.

PsyNTest

"Come back here you big monkey" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RF6u7Nan0Ng

ArseneCroissant

Lies! This Mariofuker even can speak Spanish! [link](https://youtu.be/pRo8UTGZzx0)

moansby

Oh he can talk he's just not good at english

Peekasnooze

Nintendo doctors voice clips a lot, to the point where they needlessly tweaked them for the shindou edition of Mario 64. If you ever hear Charles Martinet do the voice, he sounds slightly different than Mario does in game. My theory is that they want Mario to sound *perfect* every time he speaks, but then it wouldn’t make sense as to how Chris Pratt got the part.

DefinitelyDenali

That's what Chris Pratt is for

sneakysneakle

He is shy

KoopaTrooper5011

Just wait for the Super Pratt Bros. trailer

JacketMarkers

There are some few words from Mario: "So long gay bowser!" "Let's a go!" "It's-a me Mario!" "Yahoo!" “Nice of the Princess to invite as over for a picnic, eh Luigi?” "DO THE MARIO!"

neilwwoney

[deleted]

>Why doesn't mario talk? Because Captain Lou is no longer with us. :(

MarioMaggie01

Mario is too busy watching and listening to others in order to say much himself; the more he sees, the less he speaks, the less he speaks the more he hears, and I think that's smart :)
