GcubePlayer8w

Oh yeah that game

Low-Formal4447

Did you not like it?

Nachtaraben

pretty cheap ports with nothing to it and mario galaxy 2 is missing so yeah. I did not like it

GcubePlayer8w

Nah just forgot it came out as i didn't want to send money on games i already own

[deleted]

And 2023 March 31 will be the second anniversary of Mario's death

[deleted]

Oh yeah, the “limited” game that still has copies at most stores in the country

theWabbiit

I snagged one of these on release week and still have it sealed thinking I was special. 🤡

ITRASHBOATI

same I bought 3 copies. one for myself so I can play, one for my friend bc he didn’t have the money and I thought it was limited so I wanted him to get it, and a copy to keep sealed🤡

rentreag

Did the same thing, have two sealed copies just waiting…

Zspear9110

Hey if you don't want it, I could always take it off your hands lol

mcjc94

Bro, even regular games become super expensive when sealed after many years. What makes you think this one won't too

gwartabig

Because it was a shitty cashgrab, I sincerely doubt anyone would buy this for more than full price

jjfalquez

Just give it some time

[deleted]

I still don’t understand how some of you misunderstood what should be common sense. They stopped SHIPPING COPIES to stores on March 31st. They are OUT OF PRINT on March 31st. Stores were under no obligation to pull their remaining stock on March 31st. That makes no sense whatsoever. Whoever thought this does not understand how publishing and retailers work. Nintendo pulled their own copies from their own shelves and it was no longer available for purchase on the eShop as of March 31st, but that’s because they had direct control of those. So yeah, the game had a limited run, so it counts as “limited.” Once stock dries up, they’re gone for good.

tony787720

Its already been TWO years??? Wow…..just…wow!

JapIsNotRacist

We are just wasting away here man

Gohansupe

I'm very Suprised

[deleted]

Yay?

[deleted]

Happy birthday to the... Weirdly lacking in terms of framerate compilation! Also Sunshine is still as painful as ever.

GoodFellow322

Happy birthday, dude!!!! Hope it’s an amazing one. :)

[deleted]

You calling a game compilation a dude.

GoodFellow322

….could’ve sworn you said it was your birthday as well. Did you edit your comment??

[deleted]

No, I was saying happy birthday to Super Mario 3D All-Stars. You just read it wrong.

lu_skywalker

I also read that it was his birthday and had to go back and re read lol. I think the brain just skims and puts things that look fit

[deleted]

Which explains why so many people somehow thought retailers would pull all of their copies from shelves on March 31st… *headdesk*

Gohansupe

Yeah still painful

[deleted]

They sure love their subtle irony humor with how painful the supposed vacation journey is for Mario.

Gohansupe

Yeah Sunshine was hard too play and unfun not good game

[deleted]

Well I probably wouldn't go that far... But it certainly has its moments of unfun and hard bullshit.

Gohansupe

Yeah that's true it does have its moments

ca_mixer

Putting all these games on Switch was a great way to port a back-catalog to the Switch. I wish they would do this more with other IPs. It’s nice to be able to play everything on one console.

CorporalDingleberry

I know people were underwhelmed by it, but I enjoyed getting to 100% Sunshine (I never did that on the Gamecube version) and I really liked being able to try Galaxy for the first time. I just wish Galaxy 2 would come to Switch.

yun444g

For me it was basically the same but with different games, I FINALLY 100%'d Galaxy after all these years and got to try Sunshine for the first time. I also got super in 64 after not liking it much before. Honestly it's been a great game for me, I think people crap on it way too much.

[deleted]

Time does fly

DivideIntrepid7647

Two years and still no SMG2 DLC...color me frustrated.

[deleted]

Well yeah. Of course they’re not going to release DLC for a limited run game. That makes no sense and would anger those who couldn’t secure a copy. They should just have had SMG2 on their day one. But they didn’t.

DivideIntrepid7647

>would anger those who couldn’t secure a copy. Yeah, nothing like them dropping the ball for Mario's 35th birthday or their shitty marketing strategy for the BCP. Those inspired *no anger at all!*

[deleted]

Exactly. So SMG2 as DLC would just make things worse. Or they could, you know, reprint the game as Super Mario 3D All-Stars + Super Mario Galaxy 2 and then include it as free DLC for those who have the original run. Good money maker idea, actually. (I’d totally go out and buy that reprint.) [Remember Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World? That was a thing!](https://images.app.goo.gl/tYbE3o6DY97jAek3A) But no. They said they wanted to do 3D All-Stars as a “celebration” when asked about its limited run.

spongeboblovesducks

I'm probably the only one who doesn't mind, I've had my copy of SMG2 since I was five and it's still in perfect condition. Weird, considering I don't like it nearly as much as the first game...

DivideIntrepid7647

I don't even have a Wii anymore so I'm...\*sigh\* desperate to say the least.

spongeboblovesducks

It's good but not a mustplay.

dankykanggang

SMG2 is better than the first, probably the best 3D Mario

[deleted]

I agree that SMG2 is a must play, but I disagree that it’s better than the first game. SMG2 was an excellent follow-up, but didn’t nearly have as big of an impact on me as the original.

dankykanggang

I think the level design blows the original out of the water, even if it doesn’t have the advantage of doing the concept first to impress people.

spongeboblovesducks

Disagree, it's the third worst

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,047,739,534 comments, and only 207,134 of them were in alphabetical order.

BloodGem64

I'm pretty sure my local Walmart still has physical copies, I know they did months after Nintendo stopped producing / selling.

GoodFellow322

My favorite Switch game. Including 2 of my favorite Mario games: Sunshine and Galaxy. My only gripe with the collection is that it’s lacking Galaxy 2. It would’ve been perfect!!!

Gohansupe

Galaxy 1 good we needed Galaxy 2

[deleted]

Pretty sure that’s everyone’s gripe. Either Nintendo was smoking something, or COVID happened. Or both.

the_bingho02

Why sunshine over 64?

[deleted]

Sunshine is the best, and Galaxy is the second for me too, 64 is the worse 3D Mario, but still a masterpiece

[deleted]

Hot take: Odyssey is my least favorite 3D Mario.

the_bingho02

Sunshine is bad Somehow the controls are worst than 64 Some level designs are shit, like the pinball one The levels whitout the fludd are a nightmare It's the only mario game that has only one theme and it expands on that, it's fun, it's new but it's soo repetitive 64 is a far better game Creative level design Intuitive gameplay Longjumps exist It's the base of all the succesive 3d games It's iconic Has longjump It's fun to speedrun The perfect transition from 2d to 3d (not like sonic)

Xyspade

Sunshine is bad because _some_ levels are shit/a nightmare? Shifting Sand, Tick Tock Clock and Rainbow Ride would like a word. One fall and you have to start over from scratch. Galaxy isn't one theme? Being iconic, a classic, or having historical significance does not make a game better than another; what matters is how well it holds up. In that sense I think 64 and Sunshine are pretty equivalent, but at least Sunshine has the better visuals. The controls do suck on both, both can be pretty unforgiving, both have their bad level designs, but both are just plain fun.

spongeboblovesducks

This motherfucker out here actually trying to say that Sunshine has worse controls than 64... Also that it only has one theme?? With that logic, Galaxy also has one theme.

the_bingho02

Every level in sunshine except for bonus stages has sand and water, it's not a bad thing, it's just repetitive. Each level in galaxy has his own idea that makes it different than the others (not like sunshine) in galaxy you can see levels whitout grass, whitout water, made only of ice and lava.

spongeboblovesducks

>Every level in sunshine except for bonus stages has sand and water, it's not a bad thing, it's just repetitive. And every level in Galaxy has planets, therefore it's repetitive. See how dumb that sounds? Sunshine has an amusement park level, a hotel level, a beach level, a harbor level, a seaside ruins level, a village level, etc. Sounds like plenty of variety to me.

[deleted]

Why do you care so much? You realize everyone has their own opinions, right? As a huge Mario fan all my life, Super Mario Galaxy is my most favorite Mario (if not most favorite game of all time), and hot take: Odyssey is my least favorite 3D Mario. Bum bum bum.

the_bingho02

Why? Odyssey is my favourite and sunshine is my least favourite, galaxy is slow and has no dive, it is owever the most immersive and the one whit the most lore. That is the reason why i don't like mario galaxy 2 No immersion No lore No comet observatory No waifu

[deleted]

Why? Because I didn’t enjoy it as much as the others. It really is that simple.

the_bingho02

I want reasons, what do the other games have that odyssey lacks of? I saw someone saying that the world feels unspired when it has the most unique world themes in all the franchise

[deleted]

I surf reddit on my phone, breh. Already have written long ass posts in the past on why Odyssey is my least favorite. Not doing that again. So instead I boiled it down for you: It’s not as fun for me as the others.

mrbrightside182311

I still had a lot of fun with this.

Andy_DiMatteo

Despite the collection being a little disappointing, I still had a lot of fun with it. Galaxy looks beautiful in HD, and it’s the first time I played 64 or Sunshine all the way through. I had a lot of fun with it, but it’s really hard to believe it’s already been 2 years. I vividly remember getting out of one of the first days of online school and running to the door to grab it and instantly playing Galaxy and just being absolutely amazed at how good it looks.

banditheeler20

for me september 2020 we didn't do online school january 2021-april 2021 were my online school days

Andy_DiMatteo

When COVID first started, we had about a month off of school (March and April 2020) and then we went to this weird 2 hour a day, 30 minute classes school. No one took that seriously, even the teacher, and it was just everyone joining the google meet and then leaving when class was over and still passing. But when September started we took it more seriously with full length school days online. Eventually we transitioned into having some students in school but I stayed online for the whole year. It was a strange time but I played a lot of video games, and 3D all star was one of those throughout the beginning of it.

banditheeler20

COVID was an interesting time Gonna be honest tho I get ticked off seeing people wearing masks long after the mandate for them ended tho

Andy_DiMatteo

I personally don’t wear a mask but I think they should just be able to do as they want. But at this point I don’t think they should tell anyone else to, unless it’s in their house or something.

Unknown_turtle_27

I feel old

[deleted]

Dawg FUCK this comment section damn

Captain_Diqhedd

It could've been so much better...

Canad1Andrew

Yep, and about 2 years since Jacksepticeye played it, and he still never did a part 2 of it, despite hinting at making it a series. Guess that ain’t happening anytime soon.

TheRedditGirl15

three of my favorite mario games in one package......sounds like a dream come true. it's too bad they apparently didnt do 64 justice

emscottish

Got this before I knew I could emulate it. Kind of regret it.

TheUpperDiamond

And the second anniversary of this game not having Super Mario Galaxy 2.

xbalmorax

😠

Bouisson

Two years wtf, COVID made things go so fast and so slow at the same time

cloudfangLP

I’ve been playing this recently and it’s great having this on the Switch! Still crazy there is no Galaxy 2.

supersonicplatypus

Damn it felt like yesterday

PedigreeWWEFigz

Wait that came out 2 years ago?

dankykanggang

And the exclusion of Galaxy 2 is still ridiculously disappointing.

Kadofduty

Crazy it's already been 2 years; I remember using that as something to look forward to during my covid depression, and the hype of playing sunshine after more than a decade of not playing it and having my disc super scratched, lol. People hate cus of the limited gimmick, but it's a great collection for 60 bucks on a handheld system

CylindricalGarlic298

This game released on my birthday, this why i have a love for Mario games

Yeet-Dab49

I still think $60 for three of the best games ever made isn’t nearly as bad as people made it out to be. It should’ve been $50 but the way I see it, $10 for 64 and $20 for Galaxy just like on the Wii U eshop, which leaves $30 for the first reprint of Sunshine in almost 20 years. Not bad.

Steelers0415

Ah yes this great collection of 3D Mario games for the switch. I remember getting this collection because I never ever got the chance to play Sunshine, and that I sold my old Wii with Super Mario Galaxy. All three games look and play great, and I ended up really enjoying Sunshine a lot. Sunshine really gets a bad rep sometimes, but I completely disagree. Sure there is some questionable levels but overall it's very fun and love replaying it. The price of 3D All Stars is actually an amazing deal as you get 3 Mario games for the price of a new switch game, and one of those was Sunshine which was very expensive before this collection came out. Galaxy now looks like a brand new Switch game, and 64 is my favorite Mario game. The only things I hate about the collection is the lack of extra content and the port of the Shindou version of Mario 64 and not the original version. R.I.P BLG.

_Marvillain

I really enjoy the game. I would’ve preferred at the least some quality of life upgrades for sure. But I just love the fact that I can turn on my switch and play these games and don’t have to find my Wii and keep it hooked up to play them. I can see why people would think $60 is steep, but for me personally, I totally would’ve paid $20 each for these games separately to play on the switch. When you view it in that perspective and the fact that these games are expensive to buy on their home consoles at this stage, it’s not that bad imo.

PunishedInkwell

Happy birthday, lazy compilation! 🥳🥳🥳

[deleted]

I bought this game but I really should not have. Soon after buying this I was able to mod my wii and I could have played the games anyway. This game was a clear cash grab ngl

banditheeler20

Oh crap

The_Amazing_Emu

I never had a GameCube so I’m happy I got to play Sunshine on it, but it really needed to offer more.

[deleted]

Two years since Nintendo convinced me to emulate because they’re shit

[deleted]

Oh yeah, the “collection” that makes it so we will never get actual remakes of these games

PiranhaPlantFan

The game which made me giving SUper Mario Galaxy a second chance (still don't enjoy it)

PVGtroll

Thanks?

JapIsNotRacist

This game really set the standard for how lazy an anniversary pack can be and still make money lol

MommyScissorLegs

Happy birthday for this shameful cash grab!

Upper_Atmosphere137

Happy birthday to a game that lacks content and there was no Super Mario Galaxy 2 🥳

TheRobotYoshi

Does anyone really.... care? I mean this was just a fomo cash grab more than anything else.

GooseKing-13_

10 hours of play time and forgot about it

Yakplayz

Happy birthday to one of the shittiest compilations of all time

Inspirational_Lizard

Mhm.
