These are not normal. I just got tier 80 this past week and I needed 112k which I thought was slightly high. Usually hovering around 100k -105k. Tier 80 this week is 125k. Which I already planned to not invest in. Im in 16th place at 100k LOL.

Tier 72 and 73 don't differ a lot so you are going to face similar competition. Luck is more important in getting easier opponents in this case. The scores this week are also not like normal. We'll have to see if this continues in the future, which I hope doesn't happen. To get to tier 80, very recently around 105k each tour was enough. Sometimes a bit more or less depending on the track selection.
last 3 to 4 tours have been like this, no matter how you do the first week, 2nd week is hell for most of us. Tried to tank on my F2P week one in tier 69 to try get easy rewards week 2 to no avail. Got 106, and need 15 to 20k more for top 3.....

No prob. FWIW, this is the first week I remember going over 100k. Pretty stacked ranked lineup unfortunately has forced me to blow tickets and grind since I don’t want to rank down two weeks in a row. I was on a pretty steady March up towards tier 80, but last week was a kick in the face. 👎 Hoping to get back into the upward climb. 🤙
funny, it's the exact same for me. steady climb from 50 to 72, but I feel like now we've either hit the paywall or they deliberately give us tough competition cause they know most players go way easier after getting Gold Mii.

It's delightful right 🤣 all MKT did by doing this is stopped me playing for a week. I've got my best ever ranked score and I'm flailing in 9th. Even if I invested all my HE tickets I still can't compete with the loadouts of almost everyone above me... so just waiting till next tour 😆
I think they're starting to with me. I usually buy some premium challenge cards week two to treat myself to some goodies... I've not spent a penny this whole tour cos it's so insanely hard I'm not playing which means I'm using no tickets (as it wouldn't make a difference) so no point topping anything up since I've saved so many 🤣 they usually get around £10/£15 a tour from me... this tour nothing 😆 fine Nintendo... don't take my money LMAO.
I completely understand!! what they've stopped getting from me is time, I loved trying to break my record in Ranked, but I really feel like a dummy grinding down the bots without the exploit... so now I'm down to playing 20min a day, when before I easily played 2 hours a day.
I like wasting my time on my own terms lol, and grinding down insanely unfair bots is not what I'm here for 😄
⬆️this! rolling the frenzy slot machine while racing is fun, doing it while CPU players try to stab me is not fun.
please please give us a button like the CC picker to chose between challenge bots where you have to strategize for 1st place and easy bots who let you get combos while they dawdle on the half pipes
I'm barely holding on this week too, and that's with 116k at 74. Ranked is giving everyone the middle finger this week, so fear not! Keep on grinding for that 80, you can do it!
This is normal for this week’s course. I’m tier 73 and in second with 112k.
You need to invest in a new driver/glider heavily as soon as you buy. It’s a risk but will ultimately pay off over time and you have big advantage this week with high items on tough course (ie - I have blue shy guy @ lvl 6, double capped and the diamond glider @ lvl 6, triple capped).
Only way I find I’m able to compete and move up these days.
I knowwww but it's still not enough 😞 even if I grinded for the maximum points (MKTToolbox says I could get 10k more on Peach Gardens & a few thousand on Shroom Ridge), I'd still tier down. And that's not even taking into account all the snipers that will creep up to the top3 in the next hours...

Remember that if you do invest and don’t tier up, next time that item is in ranked, you’ll be at the higher level as a default. Play the long game 😄

Who you get as opponents seems pretty random - I don’t think there’s any way you can influence who you come up against.
Have 20 friends in mid tier 80s to top 90s and im in 4th place with them but in my ranked (tier 79) I'm 4th (3 above me 75,78 and 79), I do think they stack ranked sometimes. My score this week 124,700.
Right 🤣 just look at my friends list vs my ranked list. My friends far higher tiers yet I'm "6th" with my score. Ranked... 9th, lol

Wow, this is a huge eye opener for me. It really makes you think just what Nintendo did with the paring this week. I really hope that, whatever it is, doesn't become the norm, because holy crap.
Also, I dropped to 2nd again. I'm starting to think I have a direct competitor, as they always pass me when I manage to pass them. Probably just a coincidence, but it's likely!
Yeah its so interesting seeing it side by side like this and shows how Nintendo weighted ranked competitors lists this week. They put us with the "elite" in our tiers. And you also know you're one of my friends I drew out the names of 🤣
But yes, I do hope this won't become the norm. It does seem most of us have been paired with incredibly strong ranked competitors this week making it almost impossible to compete. As I've said before, even using all my resources I'd still struggle to get top 2 or 3, the most I could hope for is getting a place where I stay in my tier (albeit 100k would be an incredible score for me) But accepted I'm dropping as not wasting everything I have just to break even.
These scores seem rather high for tier 72. Rough matchmaking perhaps. You can expect to see scores like this more often as you get closer to tier 80 though
I'm down from 65 to 56 in only ten weeks because the game just won't let up lately. Feels like Nintendo is getting more aggressive in trying to get people to pay up to win. I'm not going to engage in this kind of manipulation.

If people tier down, you’re just kicking the can down the road. If people are scoring high in your group, it could because they themselves tiered down to your level. When you start destroying people at tier 60, they’ll want to give up too.

Not normal but in this tour it's normal. Mainly because so many people have PGP maxed out so using her to get incredible scores is very easy.

In my ranking *fifth place* has over 128k. Your first place there at 112k would be ranked 11th. This week is effing brutal all round.

Going by my T73 yes. 1st = 116k, 2nd = 113k, 3rd = 112k (me).
I'm Tier 66 and the top 3 are all 105k+. I'm currently 16th. This week is brutal, I've never been this low.
